"Tessellate" è il primo singolo estratto, anche se prima dell'uscita del disco era stato distribuito il brano "Your English Is Good", che adesso è stato incluso nell'album."Tessellate" è una canzone semplice nella struttura, ma che si fa apprezzare. They give the listener exactly what they want and nothing more. With only one song breaking the three minute mark, Tokyo Police Clubs debut album clocks in in under a half hour.Now with that said people probably assume this band is playing fast hard punk, right? Wrong. Tokyo Police Club plays rhythm-heavy atmospheric indie pop. Their sound can be compared to Broken Social Scene with hints of Sunny Day Real Estate and Kula Shaker.The poppiness of TPC can not be over stated. Although they have lush arrangements and occasionally employ wall-of-guitar production, they never forget the luster of hand claps or a gang-vocal "HEY!".In the end, I can not think of a better way to follow up two well recieved EPs. This full-length feels like a sophomore effort just because of how much hype and suspense...

Tras las noticias de que los canadienses estaban preparando su primer larga duración, se mascaba el temor a que una de las mayores promesas del pop internacional no estuviera a la altura de las expectativas creadas.Pues bien, ha llegado "Elephant Shell" y las previsiones se han superado. Nuevamente, muy breve (no llega a la media hora), y otra vez, fantásticos. The Canadian band released A Lesson In Crime in 2006, and with their short, catchy songs, they won the hearts of indie fans and critics. As if the ever-widening fan base wasn't enough to satisfy the band, Rolling Stone claimed Tokyo Police Club was the best "neo-punk post-anti-rock (circa 73) since the Pavement reissue of Wowee Zowee." Check out their video for their addictive single, "Nature of the Experiment."
