Conservative Pundits Just Don?t Understand Conservatism
2008-03-07 09:50:00 Senator John McCain has an uphill battle to climb now that he has become the nominee of the Republican Party. Conservative Republicans are torn over the idea of having McCain as the head of their party. There are many conservatives that dislike John McCain so much that they have said they will vote for the Democratic nominee. What is it that Senator McCain has done to agitate conservatives so much? First of all there is immigration. McCain has pushed for immigration reform while in the Senate which included some forms of ?amnesty? and did not have enough border protection for conservatives. McCain worked hand and hand on this bill with Senator Ted Kennedy who is seen as one of the most liberal senators in Washington. Second of all, McCain opposes torture and the practice of waterboarding. Waterboarding is used to simulate drowning and is used to solicit information from suspects during interrogations.
