McCain woos Hispanics and launches Spanish web site
2008-05-06 22:45:00 PHOENIX (Reuters) - John McCain reached out to Hispanic voters on Monday as he sought to win over a constituency that has moved away from his Republican Party but could prove key in swing states in a close U.S. presidential election in November. The Arizona senator?s campaign launched a Spanish language Web site to mark the ...

Rep. Tom Tancredo - Hypocrite, Racist and a Horses Ass!

So Tom Tancredo Thinks John McCain is a "Traitor to this Country"
2008-01-31 16:02:00 Watching last night's Republican debates was a somewhat painful experience, not just because of the repetitive nature of these dog an pony shows, but more for the increasingly desperate attacks being launched at John McCain by opponents and pundits alike. I was reminded of one of the more ugly examples of this which I witnessed first hand. Earlier this week I was on the air with Andrea Shea King, basically riffing on the headlines of the day while we waited for Rudy Giuliani to call in, when suddenly Tom Tancredo (R - Colorado 6) was on the phone. What followed was an off the cuff assault on McCain between Andrea and Representative Tancredo that left me stunned. I'll be playing the audio clip of this during our show on Mid Stream Radio at 1:00 pm Eastern today if you would care to hear it, but here's a transcript of one of the more upsetting sections.TOM TANCREDO: He [McCain] is also, I believe, a threat in a way, to this nation.ANDREA SHEA KING: Well, you're being, you're bein...
Duncan Hunter has Decided to Endorse Mike Huckabee
2008-01-25 08:44:00 Well, here’s a move I honestly didn’t expect to see. Good old Duncan Hunter decided to endorse somebody after dropping out of the 2008 Republican Presidential race. Tom Tancredo Quits Race VIDEO
2007-12-22 04:21:00 From teamtancredo.org/ As a loyal friend and supporter it is important to me that you understand why I am doing this, even though you may disagree. For the past ten years I have dedicated my public life to the critical issue of illegal immigration. I believed then ?as I do now?that massive uncontrolled illegal immigration threatens our survival as a nation. I could not stand by and let open border politicians and corporate lobbyists sell our country out to the highest bidder. Then earlier this year when I feared that the issue would not be championed by any of the top candidates I threw my hat in the ring. It was the only way I could be certain that the candidates would be forced to take a stand. Thanks to your incredible support look what we have accomplished:Just last week Newsweek declared that ?"Anti-immigrant zealot [that would be me] had already won. Now even Dems dance to his no mas salsa tune.? This month alone The Economist, the New Yorker, the Wall Street Journal and a s...
Whole New Race?
2007-12-21 16:22:00 (image:abcnews) Conventional wisdom has suggested a few inevitabilities about the coming election. Tom Tancredo Drops Out of Race and Endorses Romney
2007-12-21 08:36:00 Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo dropped out of the presidential race on Thursday. Tancredo has been polling in the single digits even in Iowa where immigration is a larger issue to voters. During his announcement Tancredo said that he would be endorsing?drum roll?Mitt Romney? Mitt Romney!? Well I guess it could have been worse, he could have endorsed Giuliani. Tancredo said he did not agree with Romney on all issues (no kidding) but said that Romney has had a ?solid record? on immigration. Tancredo also said that Romney could go the distance in this election. The Colorado Representative said he knew he was a long shot for the nomination but was proud of the fact that he brought the issue of immigration to the forefront of this election. Tancredo said that he did not want to be a spoiler in this election and keep a candidate from being nominated that would protect our borders. Tancredo?s endorsement comes exactly two weeks before the Iow...
Tom Tancredo Drops Out of Race and Endorses Mitt Romney

Tom Tancredo drops out of presidential race, endorses Romney
2007-12-21 04:30:00 Tom Tancredo, a Republican from Colorado, dropped out of the race to the White House earlier today. His bid for the Republican nomination was deemed a long-shot by many, especially with so many ...

Farewell Tom Tancredo, We Hardly Knew You
2007-12-21 03:14:00 Presidential hopeful Rep. Tom Tancredo dropped out of the race to win the Republican Presidential nomination today. The move left many Americans asking the question, “who?”. Although Tancredo wasn’t a so-called “top tier” candidate, he did bring the issue of illegal immigration into the debate, and into the minds of voters. Tancredo, a Colorado Republican, is a fierce proponent of stricter illegal immigration laws, but his campaign struggled to gain traction with Republican primary voters, despite many naming illegal immigration as a top concern. [source] In the message on his campaign website, he had this to say: This month alone The Economist, the New Yorker, the Wall Street Journal and a score of other newspapers have written similar assessments, grudgingly crediting our campaign with forcing the issue of immigration to the center of the national stage and?more importantly?with forcing every presidential candidate to commit themselves to an immigrat...
Tom Tancredo Expected to Drop Out of Race
2007-12-20 22:19:00 According to a posted item by the Ron Paul campaign, presidential candidate Tom Tancredo is expected to drop out of the race today. Tancredo is currently polling at about 6 percent in Iowa which would leave those votes up for grabs. 6 percent is not a huge number but it could be enough to influence another candidate enough in Iowa.
Tancredo Leaves Race, Endorses Romney
2007-12-20 21:31:00 Updating our previous post, Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo confirmed at a Des Moines press conference this afternoon that he was abandoning his presidential bid. "For the same reason that I launched the campaign, I must now end it," Tancredo said. The Colorado Republican, who is also retiring from the House at the end of his current term, gave his support to rival Mitt Romney. As we suggested earlier, that endorsement isn't too surprising, given that Tancredo, who bragged this summer about helping to derail the campaign of John McCain, likely wants to keep the nomination from Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani. Tancredo presumably views both as too soft on illegal immigration, his pet issue. Romney has attacked both Huckabee and Giuliani on immigration and has been airing ads in Iowa that target Huckabee on as well.Tancredo's candidacy has helped boost immigration to the top of conservative voter concerns this cycle and has driven his Republican rivals to change their tone on...

So Long, Tom Tancredo?
2007-12-20 18:27:00 Tom Tancredo is scheduled to make a "major announcement" in Des Moines, Iowa, this afternoon. His campaign has been quiet on the details, leading many to speculate that Tancredo will announce that he is dropping his presidential bid. Though Tancredo's pet issue, illegal immigration, has risen to the fore in both national and Iowa politics, the Colorado Republican has failed to emerge from the low single digits in most polling. The decision by Iowa Republican Congressman Steve King, a Tancredo ally and another strong anti-immigration voice, to endorse Fred Thompson last week may have been the final straw.Should Tancredo drop out as expected, one would also assume that he would quickly endorse another candidate. Dropping out now, with the Iowa Caucuses just two weeks away and after nearly a year of campaigning, would make little sense otherwise. Timed just before voters tune out for the holidays, Tancredo's endorsement would be highly coveted. While he may not have mass number...

Bye bye, Tom Tancredo
2007-12-20 04:04:00  Jonathan Martin at the politico is reporting that Tom Tancredo is about ready to call it quits. Which, as it happens is approximately as important as announcing that the 17th St kazoo band is going to be playing in East Podunk, the night of super Tuesday. Fox has picked up the call, now, too: Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo plans to drop out of the race during an announcement Thursday afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa, GOP sources close to the campaign have told FOX News. Tancredo, who has aggressively pushed his anti-illegal immigration message throughout the GOP primary race, has not been able to break through in the polls against his better known competitors. He and California Rep. Duncan Hunter typically poll in the single digits behind Texas Rep. Ron Paul in national surveys. Tancredo would not personally confirm whether he will pull out of the race. Tancredo had the immigration thing down right. Too bad that was the limit of his ability in the area of getting i...

Joseph Farah: I still like Tom Tancredo for president.
2007-12-18 14:18:00 Received via MySpace BulletinTancredo for president Joseph Farah I still like Tom Tancredo for president. I urged him to run when no other candidate was focusing on the way our country is being torn asunder by illegal immigration actively encouraged by the current occupant of the White House. Though I have formally endorsed no candidate, I made no secret of the fact that my favorites are Tancredo and Rep. Duncan Hunter – both, admittedly, long shots to get the Republican nomination. Bu I feel compelled to offer some more encouragement to Tancredo for his decision to boycott the recent Spanish-language debate. And he was the only candidate to do so. Tancredo got it right. "If they can't understand the English language, then, of course, they shouldn't be citizens," Tancredo explained. "They shouldn't be voting. And we shouldn't be pandering to them." That's what I like about Tancredo. Simple. Straightforward. To the point. He pulls no punches and he minces n...
Des Moines Register Republican Debate from Iowa (YouTube Videos)
2007-12-14 08:51:00 Wednesday, December 12, 2007 the Des Moines Register hosted the last Republican debate before the critical January 3rd Iowa caucus. Carolyn Washburn of the Register was the moderator. One of the main topics of the debate was the fair-tax. Huckabee has been gaining major popularity in Iowa recently and he is one candidate who is in favor of getting rid of the income tax. Huckabee has proposed a ?fair-tax?, also known as a consumption tax, to replace the income tax. A consumption tax would be based on what people buy instead of their income. The more you buy, especially luxury items, you will be taxed more. Those that have less money to spend will be taxed very little. "That means the rich people aren't going to be made poor, but maybe the poor people will be made rich. That ought to be the goal of any tax system ? not to punish somebody but to enable somebody, so they can have a part of the American dream," Huckabee said. Romney on the other hand is mor...

2007-12-12 02:26:00 I could not believe what I was hearing when I heard it today, but out of the mouth of Republican U.S. Presidential Candidate Tom Tancredo was a series of very bigoted statements which essentially add up to this:If you're speaking any language other than English, you're not American. That was the message he sent and it was totally ugly. So much so that Fox's Shepard Smith could not resist grilling him with a set of "setup" questions on this. Republican CNN/YouTube Debate Videos (November 28, 2007)
2007-11-30 07:06:00 On Wednesday night Anderson Cooper hosted the first ever Republican YouTube debate on CNN. The questions were submitted by regular Americans (likely Republicans) and played for the candidates at the debate. Mike Huckabee showed his character the most on Wednesday by defending his state?s practice of educating children of illegal immigrants. Huckabee told Romney that he was going to finish what he was going to say and said that we should not punish children for their parents mistakes. Huckabee showed his commitment to education and did not back down to Mitt Romney. Chuck Norris was also in the audience and in post debate talk to show his support for Governor Huckabee. Huckabee has Walker Texas Ranger on his side. He should win Iowa. Here is the full YouTube/CNN debate: Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: Part 4: Part 5: Part 6: Part 7: Part 8: Part 9: Part 10: Part 11: Pa...
Tape-Delayed Live Blog
2007-11-29 15:51:00 EDITOR'S NOTE: We had some technical difficulties last night, so this post has become a delayed live blog, which has provided the time to add the full video of the questions and answers. What follows are my live thoughts while watching tonight's CNN/YouTube Republican debate. All times are central standard.7:00 Here we go. Anderson Cooper tells us the debate receive 5000 submitted questions, which is 2000 more than for the Democratic debate. A big roar comes from the crowd.7:01 Anderson says CNN will again bring out the candidates for pictures before the debate begins (they did this in the recent Dem debate as well). Why do this? CNN complains about not having the time to discuss every issue and not getting deep enough. Showing the candidate introductions and pictures is a huge waste of time that could easily be done before the airing.7:02 Florida Republican Governor Charlie Crist introduces the candidate. He's seen as a rising star in the party--his approvals are very impr...

Republican CNN/YouTube Debate (November 28, 2007)
2007-11-29 09:14:00 A view of the CNN/YouTube Republican presidential debate from St. Petersburg, Florida. Anderson Cooper hosted the event on November 28, 2007. (Photo by REUTERS). After months of waiting we finally got to see the Republicans face questions from regular Americans. The Republican CNN/YouTube presidential debate almost did not happen because most of the candidates ?did not like the format?. In other words they were afraid of the questions from the American public. Mitt Romney thought it was below him to take questions from a snowman. Due to outside pressure they eventually had to set a date and show up to the debate on Wednesday. What better way to spend two hours than to listen to 8 mediocre candidates argue through the issues. Wednesday night got started quickly between Romney and Giuliani. Also McCain and everyone he was mad at. Romney and Giuliani had been trying to smear each other?s record on illegal immigration over the last week and after the first que...
GOP Debate Open Thread
2007-11-29 05:41:00 Mike Huckabee stood out like he was standing five feet higher and forward than the rest of the GOP candidates. He seemed less antagonistic than the rest of the religious right candidates. Duncan Hunter's response that the military is a Judeo-Christian institution is just plain insulting to any non-Christian, non-Jewish, and/or liberal thinking soldier, plus I don't think that's what Colin Powell meant, but nice job hiding behind one of the few popular Republicans nowadays. I would normally say he should apologize, but there is too much calling for politicians to apologize. Politicians need to stand by their comments and people need to either not vote for them or deal with it. Mitt Romney's response to the question was even more stupid. The two candidates who stood out were Huckabee and McCain who seemed to reclaim his maverick streak when talking about torture and the fair tax.The one thing that surprised me was the audience's response to the retired gay general; the booing. It...
