2008-03-20 20:42:00 Tomboy is a very simple application for Linux in principal, but its uses are extensive and you can build a note taking system as simply, as elaborately and as productively as you want. The basics of Tomboy is that it uses a Wiki like linking strategy, where specific words can be links. For example, start a new note and name it To-do. From then on, this becomes a link, if you write To-do in any other note it will become a clickable link that takes you to this note. This means easy navigation throughout the notes, and together with the powerful search feature you can reach anything in seconds. Getting Tomboy If you have Ubuntu it will be installed automatically and you will be able to find it under Applications - Accessories. The repositories are not yet updated, so this will only be version 8.0, as opposed to the newest, 10.0 version. The newer version enables Notebooks, in other words folders for your notes. It is in cross-indexing tool and a quick publisher all rolled into one. Tomboy is also very addictive and easy to use, and does away with the hassle of naming files and remembering the directory paths. It is an evolving application and the latest release is still at version 0.6.To start:1. Go to Application --> Accessories --> Tomboy Notes, which lunched Tomboy as an applet on your panel. Once lunched it remains active and you can access your note quickly from the applet icon till you log out or quit the applet.2. Here she is, posing with her little sister, complete with the usual look and attitude: So imagine my shock when Abby loved the stage costume she had to wear for a very recent (last weekend) local production of Little Women. This was a very girly and old-fashioned dress, and when I first saw it I thought she’d hate it. She was also excited to wear makeup and a head band which *gasp* pulled her hair off of her face, and in the process of being excited, she somehow forgot that it was all so… girly. I think I got through it all without squealing, but it was difficult.
