Schedule Tomfoolery
2007-11-20 14:13:00
Apparently, the NHL has done everything in its power to create a schedule that takes all the momentum out of a teams, and their fans, sails. For what seems the 100th time this season the Sabres have a break after a Friday night game until Wednesday. While the rest certainly never hurts I think this is part and parcel to the team's struggles right now. Like any sport a team needs to find its rhythm. This is something they seem to have struggled with a ll season. They are hardly alone. There has been numerous instances where teams around the NHL have had 1 game in a 11 day period. I believe this has interrupted their flow as well. It is harder to stay focused and practice becomes stale, it also robs intensity from games. This leads to boring games. Also, and this is my opinion, the more practice time you have the more work a team can do on its defense. I don't think it is coincidence that scoring is down as teams have been able to be far more organized defensively early in the seaso...

Cell Phone Tomfoolery
2007-09-12 05:02:00
A Future Of Me blogged about his experience with Cingular, Mqube and Blinko: “I never subscribed to Blinko yet was receiving text messages that were costing me money. I have never heard of MQube until I read the name on the bill. No-one has had the opportunity to use my phone. Yet, as per the Cingular rep, ...
Advanced
2007-08-27 18:43:00
I placed second in the Intermediate Jack and Jill at Summer Hummer this past weekend. That gives me exactly 25 points and places me in Advanced. That’s pretty cool, considering how long I’ve been dancing! It also means I’ll be more qualified to teach, since I’m considered an upper level dancer now (as far as ...
A Gentle Fuss: Playing politics - or - tomfoolery in Kingston
2007-08-19 21:39:00
A Gentle Fuss: Playing politics - or - tomfoolery in Kingston: "The dean of Queen's University in Kingston On. - a fine school, whatever my UWO-based readers may have to say about it between hisses and expletives - is coming under fire from her own subordinates for refusing to take part in the childish boycott of Israeli academics proposed by a group in the U.K."Margaret Aziza Pappano is the english lit Prof and member of the Queen’s Coalition for Racial and Ethnic Diversity challenging Queen's President Karen Hitchcock's condemnation of the racist Academic Boycott. You can read more on Margaret Aziza Pappano's views on the racist Anti-Israeli Academic Boycott here. The Queen’s Coalition for Racial and Ethnic Diversity web site is here. From their Mission Statement:"Fostering an anti-racist perspective and motivation in an environment where subtle and covert everyday racism rather than overt malicious racism contributes to a broader climate of exclusion"I think this translates ...
A few details
2007-08-16 18:09:00
I replaced the anime illustration with a picture of a cute girl jumping. I thought it was time for a change. Plus, it just didn’t look right for a guy to be standing there suspended in the air. The jumping girl fits the space a lot better, I think. Regarding the Jabbertunes library. There’s a problem ...
Krav Maga
2007-08-13 17:25:00
I’m seriously considering taking classes in Krav Maga at a local Martial Arts studio in Germantown. Apparently, Krav Maga is the Israeli military MA style, and it’s taught world-wide. A co-worker if mine swears by it, so I just may give it a shot. I’m not sure how it would fit into my West Coast ...
Not really ready for Advanced
2007-08-10 23:11:00
I need 7 more Intermediate points and then I move up to the Advanced level Jack and Jill. Which means, if I place in the top 7 at Champion’s Weekend next week, I may have to do Advanced at Summer Hummer… or maybe I’ll just sign up as an Intermediate. I don’t think I’m qualified ...
My tech support site is almost done!
2007-08-08 16:21:00
I’m adding the remainder of the content, redoing a few images and tweaking a couple things, but the site is almost complete. Here’s the address:  http://ennergi.biz  So if you know anyone who needs technical support at their homes, send them my way!
My new car!
2007-07-31 14:34:00
I bought a new car about a month ago, a 2007 Nissan 350Z Roadster (convertible). It’s red, throaty and goes very, very fast. I had a hell of a time getting a Pioneer aftermarket head unit installed, but all is well now. Now I can cruise with the top down, listen to thumpin’ tunes and turn some ...
Everything?s redone!
2007-07-25 18:10:00
So I hadn’t used the blog in a long time. A very long time, contrary to what I said about promising to update it more often. There were a few version changes and such, so I decided to rebuild the whole damn thing. Maybe I just have a little too much time on my hands ...
Illustration Contest
2007-05-04 18:28:00
I’d like to replace the illustration on the left side of the blog. If anyone would like to sketch up a suitable image, I’ll give them a small reward (still to be determined, suggestions welcome). It would need to resemble the current illustration in quality and style. It does not have to be Anima, but ...
Getting High Tech!
2007-05-03 19:18:00
I learned something very cool at work today (and it’s not even lunch time yet). I will be managing the DC office’s robotic SAN (Storage Area Network) system. It’s a network backup system that consists of a cabinet which holds about 230 tapes for data storage. This is a big thing, since I have no ...
I Hate the Metro
2007-05-01 15:00:00
My random thought for today - I really, really do not like taking the metro to work. Luckily it’s only about 5 stops. I don’t like being squeezed like a sardine in a can, nor do I like breathing other people’s air. At least there’s a lot to look at, but I’d still rather drive ...
Workin? For The Man
2007-04-30 23:09:00
Today is my 5th day at the new job. So far I’m digging it! As I stated in my last post on this subject, I mainly work with computer hardware, as well as networking in terms of patching network cables and phone jacks. So far the work is interesting - and dare I saw it, ...
Spotlight, Here I Come!
2007-04-28 23:46:00
I’ve decided to do a Pro-am routine with my new West Coast Swing instructor, Heidi Batdorf. I need floor time and experience, and this seems to be the best way to get both (short of doing Rising Star, which I may do soon too, if I could just find a local partner). We’re still in ...
New Job, New Wardrobe
2007-04-28 23:44:00
I got word back from the hiring manager from the position I interviewed for last Tuesday. They want to bring me on as a full-time employee! None of this contractor you’re-not-good-enough-fo-r-benefits shiznet. Their benefits package is very generous, and the pay is fantastic. I received the offer letter yesterday, so there you have it - ...
Words of Wisdom
2007-04-28 23:38:00
I got this quote from a friend of mine. I thought I’d share. “Some people come into our lives and leave quickly. Some people move our souls to dance - they awaken us to a new understanding with the whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon - they stay ...
The Jabberbox Gallery!
2007-04-28 23:38:00
I decided that Flickr wasn’t enough, as great as it is. I needed something more robust - and something that I could install and administer myself. I found a fantastic applet called gallery2, located here. It’s pretty empty as of this writing, but I plan on filling it up quickly. I also added a menu ...
Be your own boss!

Freelanceswitch.com has a really good article on tools and resources for Freelancers. Since I intend to be doing this sometime in the future, this article was of particular interest to me. The tools and sites mentioned therein don’t only apply to technical freelancers, however. I’m sure it would be useful for anyone who’s self-employed. 101 Essential ...

Hey, I put some new shoes on?
2007-04-13 16:52:00
My favorite new song is an upbeat, whimsicle tune by Paolo Nutini, titled “New Shoes”. I’ve added the song to the jabbertunes library, including a few more from Paolo Nutini and Timbaland. You can also download the mp3 below. New Shoes by Paolo Nutini Tags: Paolo Nutini, Timbaland

Tune in!
2007-04-07 18:02:00
The jabbertunes player is back online! I originally removed it to wait for an update, however since a number of you e-mailed me asking for it back, I’ve added it again. There’s a new version of the player due out in a few months. When it’s released, I plan on purchasing it and upgrading. For ...
Success on the job front!
2007-04-03 23:26:00
I just came from a very successful interview! This position is in DC, at a very prominent law firm. In fact, one of the largest firms in the country. No I’m not a lawyer; this position is for a senior level hardware technician (title means nothing though). I’d be fixing PCs, Printers and the like, as ...
The Jabberbox has changed hosts!
2007-04-03 15:06:00
I finally ditched Media Temple, my previous host, and switched to A Small Orange, which is a cheaper and more reliable alternative. Unfortunately, I lost all of the Blog?s previous posts. However, there were only like? 3, so no big deal! As for the ?jabber tunes?, the client will be available shortly. Please stand by! ...
