Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch and double-file restarts – yes it’s an all NAS
2009-06-10 19:30:00
Welcome back ladies and gentleman, as I sit here on a Wednesday afternoon watching the replay of the Pocono 500 on television from this past Sunday, however I am thinking about Kyle Busch at Nashville, the double-file restarts and Tony Stewart winning at Pocono.Kyle Busch smashing a guitar?Last Saturday night was shaping up to be just like so many NASCAR Nationwide Series races, Kyle Busch leading the race and in most cases dominating the race, the ESPN announcers cheering him on as they are part of his fan club, the fans waiting for just about anything to happen, the TV Broadcast following the too early to cover points fight between Busch and Edwards, but no one covering the a driver’s car on fire heading into the garage and of course Kyle Busch winning the race.So what the headline, well leave to Kyle Busch to make a statement in his car that everyone was going to get a piece of that guitar, that’s not a bad thing to say neither that crew deserves a lot of credit, and yes they...
The history continues in the 25th NASCAR All-Star race as Tony Stewart wins
2009-05-17 05:40:00
Armed with soda, chips, chicken breasts, BBQ sauce, snacks and a one seat, it’s a night to sit back, relax, leave the remote alone and just watch a sprint race on television, yes I am talking about the only night that there is no points on the line (not counting the Shootout at Daytona) the NASCAR All-Star race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. While I can do without the Shootout at Daytona, in my eyes, the All-Star race is a must have. This is a night that there are no points on the line, no points racing, it’s an all out sprint race and the winner, the one who survivors wins a $1 Million Dollars. What I really can’t believe is that this is the 25th NASCAR All-Star race, the first thought is NASCAR actually kept this race all this time, of course time changes most events in life, and the All-Star race is no different. In 1985, the All-Star race had a simple format, around 10 cars started, 70 laps that included a mandatory pit stop and winner takes all.I watched the highlights of the ...

Who will replace Tony Stewart in the #20 in 2009 and should it be Joey Loga
2008-08-17 01:46:00
That seems to be an interesting question with no real answer except for the 18 year old NASCAR Nationwide Series winner and 2007 NASCAR Busch East Series champion Joey “sliced bread” Logano, however while I think that Joey Logano is going to be a winner in NASCAR, I also think that bring up Logano to the Cup Series in 2009 to replace Stewart in the #20 is not the best move for him.Logano would be better off staying in the Nationwide Series full-time for one or two more seasons to gain some more experience. He’s only 18 and so far in the Nationwide Series, he has 9 starts (following Michigan) with one victory at Kentucky on Father’s Day weekend. (Photo Credit: Padraic Major for NASCAR via NASCAR PR)With that said, Gibbs racing would be better off running him part-time in 2009 alongside a veteran driver (like for example: Mark Martin and Aric Almirola did in the #8 DEI Chevy this season) while running full-time in the Nationwide Series, that way, he would not only gain a lot o...
Tony Stewart and his new teammate Ryan Newman set their sights on 2009 at S
2008-08-15 17:25:00
Readers of Racedriven.com may be wondering why this NASCAR fan has generally kept quit with the exception of a couple of comments on other blogs on the whole Tony Stewart-2009 move. Well, unlike last season when my favorite driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. was moving from DEI to Hendrick Motorsports, I had written on every move, however for this season’s Smoke news, I’ve been just waiting for all of the announcements to come together as well as just thinking about the whole move.So as the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season continues on with just four races left in the Race to the Chase, the last thing I thought I would have been talking about is Tony Stewart’s 2009 move, however that is exactly where NASCAR fans are right now as Tony Stewart has just made his final announcement. Before last month (July), the rumors and speculations had been running on just what Tony Stewart might be doing for 2010 as he was working on his new contract with Joe Gibbs racing, I remember last season (2...

2008-05-24 17:41:00
Two-time NASCAR champ Tony Stewart and his girlfriend Krista Dwyer have given their pet patas monkey, Mojo, to the Louisville Zoo. When Stewart and Dwyer noticed that Mojo was maturing and becoming aggressive, they sought help from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, which recommended the Louisville Zoo, said zoo spokeswoman Kara Bussabarger. Bussabarger said the association ...

2008-04-27 00:00:00

2008-04-27 00:00:00

Messin’ with Texas ATLANTA (April 2, 2008) — The slogan “Don’t Mess with Texas” is practically an invitation for Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. Stewart has been messing around in Texas since November 1995 when he drove A.J. Foyt’s Indy car at Texas World Speedway in College Station during a commercial shoot. ...
Tony Stewart cuts his hair
2008-03-28 02:03:00
Tony Stewart comes into Martinsville Speedway relaxed and refreshed after a rare off-weekend on the 38-race weekend Sprint Cup Series schedule. The driver of the #20 Home Depot Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing is also a bit more aerodynamic, for the long hair he had sported since the end of last season is gone. Stewart?s ...

I DID however, get a new blog theme up. I went for simplicity in the design because a) I’m tired, and b) nothing comes out right at the moment because I’m just not having any luck in PS3. Why Kingdom Hearts? Because I’m currently playing it. I have both Kingdom Hearts & Kingdom ...

Tony Stewart takes the checkered flag at the Nationwide opener.
2008-02-17 20:09:00
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The payback was perfect. Tony Stewart turned the tables on Hendrick Motorsports to win the Nationwide Series opener. Now, if only he can do it again on Feb 17th, 2008. Stewart and Busch put on a good show Saturday 2/16/08, leading 93 of the 120 laps. Stewart and teammate Kyle Busch finished 1-2 Saturday, combining to hold off Dale Earnhardt Jr., who finished third. Earnhardt, Daytona pole-winner Gordon and Johnson are all previous 500 winners. Joe Gibbs Racing drivers are still looking for that first win in NASCAR's Prime Event.

NASCAR Kicks Off Their 2008 Season Tonight
2008-02-09 23:31:00
The Bud Shootout marks the official start to the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. This is an exhibition race meaning that no points are awarded but that only makes the event better. What it means is that the drivers only care about one thing tonight and that's winning. NASCAR's exhibition's are the best preseason events in all of sports. Unlike The NFL and MLB, these guys are going at it 100% the entire event. No one holds anything back and when that happens there's usually plenty of action. Tony Stewart won this race last year in a Chevy and will be looking to repeat after switching to Toyota this season. Some guys didn't wait for tonight to start lighting some fireworks. There were two big wrecks in practice for this race last night. Clint Bowyer was a little too aggressive trying to make a pass on Ryan Newman and started a wreck that collected Newman, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, David Gilliland and Bill Elliott. Later on in the same practice session, Tony Stewart and Kurt Busc...
Ron Pratte Buys Tony Stewart’s (NAS)CAR for $300,000
2008-01-20 04:21:00
Car collector Ron Pratte paid $300,000 dollars for Tony Stewart’s 2007 Home Depot Chevrolet Monte Carlo race car. The sale took place at the 37th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The NASCAR racer was purchased by Chandler, Ariz., resident Ron Pratt, who in recent years has bought several multi-million dollar cars at Barrett-Jackson, including the GM Futureliner bus and the Oldsmobile F-88 show car. All of the money raised by the sale went to the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. Gwynn was paralyzed and lost his left arm in 1986 when his dragster crashed into the retaining wall half-way down the track. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation exists to prevent, provide for and ultimately cure spinal cord injuries and other debilitating illnesses. To expedite specific cures, the Foundation assists in the funding of targeted research. The Foundation is also dedicated to injury prevention, with special emphasis on programs targeting children. The Foundation helps ...
Tony Stewart goes for big money for charity as Monster Garage is reignited
2008-01-19 03:38:00
You know, first thing is I hope that headline makes since and second is what an interesting week it’s been at the Barrett-Jackson car auction so far and even though I am watching it unfold on SPEED, its always intriguing to see just what some of these unique and one-off vehicles will go for.Earlier tonight, the man himself made an appearance, Tony Stewart and he did it in smoking fashion, yeah, doing a burnout straight onto the auction block, what a sight on television as the cameras were right there looking straight into the wheel wells, were do I get a photo of that… Smoke was on-hand to see his 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series winning racecar (three wins in 2006 - Kansas, Atlanta and Texas) with signed uniform and helmet go across the block, so, going, going, gone for … $300,000 all goes to the Darrell Gywin Foundation. On the first two night’s (Tuesday and Wednesday night), the crowd of car enthusiasts on-han were treated to a different and yet funny, one-offs from the hit s...

Ok, unless you live under a rock and haven’t paid any attention to my site, you know I love Tony Stewart. He’s my favorite NASCAR driver of all time. With that said, why is it that ESPN has any right to say anything about him. At the end of this articleit talks about how ESPN ...

What? Tony Stewart fined for saying "Bull S***" during post-race interview
2007-07-31 23:05:00
I'm speechless, are you kidding me, two days ago Tony Stewart was on top of the world at Indianapolis after he won this second Brickyard 400 and during the post-race interview (picture on the right by Motorsport.com) that took place at the start/finish line just before climbing the fence under the flag stand and during that interview, he made a comment that included the words "bull s***".A couple of years ago Dale Jr. won at Talladega and during his post-race interview on NBC, he said in the same context "S***", he was fined $10,000 and docked 25 driver/owner points. Fast Forward to Sonoma last month, on the first lap going into turn 11, Kyle Petty was doing a in-car race announcer and he was involved in an accident and TNT put up his in-car audio during an instant replay and he said "What the f*** was that!" and while I agree he shouldn't have been no penalty, TNT should have, but no penalty. Now we come to the present, last weekend at Indy, Stewart says "Thanks to all my fans fo...
Separated at Birth?
2007-07-31 03:07:00
ESPN's Page 2 used to have a feature where they would have pictures of an athlete and celebrity next to each other to show a resemblance. Usually, the two didn't look very similar. Well, I think I found a pairing that actually works. I am proud to present actor Donal Logue from the "The Tao of Steve" and the recently cancelled (unfortunately) "The Knights of Prosperity" and NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.
Tony Stewart Wins the Brickyard [David Stefanini]
2007-07-30 17:59:00
Watch out NASCAR because here comes Tony Stewart. Stewart is on a roll again in the second half of the NASCAR season. Here is Terry Blout with more:Stewart's confidence is back in full swing after winning back-to-back races for the seventh time in his career. That's not a good thing for the rest of the Nextel Cup drivers. The shark in an orange fire suit smells blood in the water. Don't get in his way or he will swallow you whole. How confident is Stewart now?Trailing leader Kevin Harvick by five car lengths with 15 laps to go, Stewart got on his radio and said, "Here kitty, kitty, kitty."Comments:Under the stupid 'Chase for the Cup' rules, Stewart looks to have all the momentum going into the final stretch of the season. Jeff Gordon, who has clearly dominated the circuit this year, is going to have his hands full contending with Stewart. While I was watching the race yesterday I kept thinking to myself how good Tony looked. He ran a smooth race and turned up the heat with 10 la...

Tony Stewart: Please Shut Up! [A.J. Cordi]
2007-04-26 01:11:00
Seriously, this guy just won't shut up until he wins a race. Then, he'll probably find something wrong with the way he won (that is, if he wins.) He's finally gotten over not making the chase, but now has a new complaint for NASCAR. "Bogus" caution flags.Stewart claims he refused to do any NASCAR interviews after the race to "avoid" insulting NASCAR. He then went on to say that NASCAR is "playing God" and started comparing the great racing sport to professional wrestling. "I guess NASCAR thinks 'Hey, wrestling worked, and it was for the most part staged, so I guess it's going to work in racing, too,'" Stewart said on his satellite radio program. But that wasn't the end of it. Before reading on, take note that if this had been in the NBA, he would probably be fined or suspended. "They can almost dictate the race instead of the drivers doing it. It's happened too many times this year ...I can't understand how long the fans are going to let NASCAR treat them like they're stupi...
Tony Stewart accuses NASCAR of 'playing God'
