Shayish, The Importance Of A Vav-Torah
2008-06-22 18:35:00 ?"? ???? ????"?Alban Heruin 20The transition metal with which my newest ritual treasure is made is cobalt. With an atomic number of 27, most of the earth's cobalt is in its core. The Hebrew word for cobalt is ??? meaning 'evening'. My Craftwork cobalt 'evening'-related entry follows yesterday's series of 'morning'-related entries which began with Death Of Distortion, The Day The Sun Stood Still. During the period of time uniting the entries this weekend, as the order in my writings, evening followed morning. The morning to evening order is the reverse (a function of vav hahipuch) of that with which the waters of Bereshit 1:5-6 were divided, suggesting that the waters of Creation are no longer divided, and have reunited (a function of vav hachibur).

Her Torah Rising Up From Below
2008-06-08 14:06:00 ?' ???? ????"?Alban Heruin 6Last evening's motzi shabbat divination consisted of 3 Hebrew letters and 1 Ogham letter.??? - Torah from the earth; Her Torah, an earth-based shamanic configuration anchored in Truth through the letter tav (?), projecting through Her hand (?), Torah (?)and the letter ailm - the fid of an epiphanyThis divination followed the Tzohar dream vision of the single cell-like tav-like Newgrange-like iron framework of an inner temple room simultaneously, both coming down from above and rising up from below. It also connects to my Hebrew name, Liorah ??????, whose Torah pasuk of remembrance is Devarim 30:12:? ? ?????, ???: ????, ?? ????-??? ?????? ????? ???, ??????? ? ??, ??????It is not in the heavens, that I should say, who can go up and get it for me that I may observe it. Don?t Eat a Peach or Raisins and Almonds because Carrot Juice is Murder
2008-06-06 13:22:00 We are on the approach to the Pentecost, also known as Shavuot. On the holiday of Shavuot there is a well known custom not to eat any meat. There is a lesser known custom of the day prior to Shavuot not to eat any meat or any milk. Both customs are of ...

Torah Judaism, Homosexuality, and Gay Marriage
2008-06-02 17:23:00 The Torah does not like gays. For some Jews, this is not a difficult challenge to overcome. The Torah may have been inspired by God, but it was written by men. Its intolerance toward homosexuals can be written off as the outdated bigotry of a bygone age. For others, it is not a challenge at all. The ...

What Does G-d Taste Like?
2008-06-02 17:19:00 Shauli, our youngest son, was about seven years old as he sat across the table from me, at our favorite pizza shop. He considered a slice of pizza he held in his hands and asked: ?Is Hashem (G-d) everywhere?? ?Yes,? I answered, matter of factly. ?Is He in this slice of Pizza?? he asked, probing further. ?Yes,? ...

Taking My Mind for a Walk
2008-05-12 18:27:00 One day, Mayer, my chavruta wondered out loud about how a prophet could identify that a particular event he saw would happen in the future; after all, the information that he was accessing was most likely coming from a ?place? beyond the boundaries of time. His question began a stream of consciousness that led me to ...

Dvar Torah Fodder for the Seders
2008-04-16 01:28:00 Most people who read this website are probably also scurrying to clean their houses for Passover (leaven begone!) and searching high and low for divrei torah for the Seders. In the interests of satiating that need and self-promotion, here are my two suggestions for you if you want to rile up your family and friends. . . Are ...

Cheney-Bush defy Torah (again)
2008-03-24 22:36:00 RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — A Mideast peace agreement will require “painful concessions” by Israelis and Palestinians who must work together to defeat those “committed to violence,” Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday. After meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Cheney stressed the U.S. commitment to the creation of an independent Palestinian state, saying it was ...
Lessons from the Megilah
2008-03-23 04:25:00 Whenever I get to read a piece of the Tanach, the Old Testament, there is always this sense of understanding, a correlation of the ancient words to the here and now of today?s Jewish existence. Listening to the Rabbi reading the Megilah, the story of Esther, Mordechai, Haman and the rest of the clan, the ...

Being a Heretic in MY Bible
2008-03-17 17:48:00 Throughout the past couple of weeks, I’ve spoken sarcastically about how the mere act of thinking is considered by some to be heretical. It doesn’t matter what you think; if it is contrary to a group’s core beliefs, you are a heretic according to their understanding. Of course, in your understanding, their ideas are probably ...

The Art of War
2008-03-04 17:38:00 ?All warfare is based on deception. Defending the Torah vs. Loving Your Fellow
2008-02-09 19:42:00 by Akiva at Mystical PathsThis past Shabbat I encountered a new phenomenon in my new religious community in Eretz Yisroel. Walking home from synagogue on Shabbos night, a police car cruised up along one of the side streets of the community. He clearly appeared to be on patrol.I continued on my way with several of my children, walking to a main intersection that has a number of synagogues. There we encountered a small crowd of men and teenagers chatting after services prior to heading home to make kiddush and start the Shabbos meal. The police cruiser had completed his patrol up and down that long side street and now came down the main street...Now, this is Israel, it's assumed that the police are Jewish. And, even if they're not, the community wants peace and quiet from weekday activities on Shabbos. They .. won't .. tolerate .. disturbances .. on .. Shabbos. They will _defend_ Shabbos. So, as the police vehicle cruised slowly by, the young men jumped into the street shouti...

Deep Thinking: Where is G-D?
2008-02-08 18:39:00 Do you ever wonder why we need a Synagogue or a Temple to serve G-d? I mean, He’s everywhere, why focus our service of Him on a building?
