Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur Preview
2010-10-30 07:45:00 Tottenham Hotspur have failed to win any of their last 25 meetings against Man United, in all competitions. In today?s late kick-off they will be hoping that their luck is about to change. With Javier Hernandez in fine form the news that striker Wayne Rooney may be out for longer than three weeks won?t be an issue. Michael Owen is also out of the game at Old Trafford tomorrow, with a hamstring injury, which will keep him out for four to five weeks. Antonio Valencia, Ryan Giggs and Owen Hargreaves are also suffering from injuries; Jonny Evans is rated as doubtful. Spurs have their own injury problems with Michael Dawson, Tom Huddlestone, Jermain Defoe, Jonathan Woodgate, Vedran Corluka, Jamie O?Hara and Ledley King all out. Before any of the Premier League matches kick-off Man United sit third in the table with Spurs not far behind them in fifth. There have been 172 meetings in all competitions between the two teams seeing 81 Man United wins, 46 Tottenham wins and 45 draws. T...

Man United V Tottenham Hotspur Preview
2010-04-23 23:49:00 Over the past few weeks Tottenham Hotspur have played a very important part in the Premier League title race. Spurs have beaten both Chelsea and Arsenal 2-1 recently at White Hart Lane, tomorrow they take Man United on at Old Trafford. With three matches remaining this season for United, Spurs are arguably the toughest. The final two are an away match against Sunderland and on the final day of the season we face Stoke at Old Trafford. A last minute win against Manchester City last weekend courtesy of a Paul Scholes goal has given United hope again and we will be bolstered by the news that both Rio Ferdinand and Wes Brown have been passed fit. Owen Hargreaves was going to be included in the squad but he has picked up a calf strain. He just can?t get a break right now, as soon as it looks like he could make a comeback after a long layoff, he?s injured again. Tottenham have had a fantastic last few weeks, how many people would have bet that they would have beaten both Arsenal a...

Three points a must for Arsenal on derby day
2008-10-29 08:18:00 Good day to you all, wherever you may be in the world. It’s the big derby match tonight between Arsenal and Tottenham and I’m getting pretty excited. I’ll speak about the Spurs game in a moment, but before then there’s a couple of interesting bits of news involving former Arsenal players to run through. First up is ...

The Tarnishing of the F A Cup
2008-03-09 21:25:00 For the uninformed the F. A. Cup is the equivalent of the Super Bowl in the States, a very prestigious honour. The first game was in the 1871-2 season; the Wanderers won, beating a team from the Royal Engineers 1-0. In 1923 Wembley Stadium was completed as the showcase of English football, and to celebrate the occasion Bolton beat West Ham 2-0. Since Wembley was destroyed, (and rebuilt to host this year's Cup final) and the final played at other locations there seems to have a insignificance given to this oldest of competitions. I believe the glory years are gone from the F.A. Cup, which is unfortunate as it is truly the only significant English competition left.Managers do not seem to appreciate the history of the cup, and now we find them using it, as they do the Football League Cup, to field experimental weaker teams. (The League Cup is a competition limited to teams just within the four professional leagues of England, 72 teams, while the F A Cup's initial rounds are also ope...

Tottenham Hotspur?s Juande Ramos
2008-02-29 03:29:00 Tottenham Hotspur’s Juande Ramos says there is hard work ahead before they can challenge at the top of the league. Head coach Ramos masterminded the Carling Cup final victory over Chelsea on Sunday that ended a nine-year trophy drought, but the target of the club is to aim for the Champions League. The World?s Youngest Yiddo
2008-02-18 11:50:00 Meet Scarlett the Yid, the world’s youngest Yiddo. No idea when or where she was born seeing as her father Toby has understandably been missing from our midst while he stares open mouthed down at the thing he’s created thinking, “Ok, I’d better try and be sensible now.” Now I’m not entirely pleased she was named ...
I Love You, Tottenham
2008-02-14 08:59:00 Valentine’s Day? I ask you. Shouldn’t there have been some sort of UEFA ruling against any fixtures today? Maybe they did in on purpose? If one’s partner ever asked the dreaded question, “Who do you love more, Tottenham or me?” one could justifiably evade it by replying, “That’s not fair, Tottenham never asks me that,” ...
England, my England - WHS
2008-02-13 08:30:00 I’m not infallable, I’ve got things I’m ashamed of, for one, despite disliking you all intensely but I feel some kind of companionship. I too, have an affliction. You see, I too suffer from eternal optimism. That ‘next season’ syndrome isn’t a spud exclusive. My burden is England. She pains me so. I liked Sven, he was ...
The 39th Step: A Step Too Far
2008-02-08 07:37:00 It’s like watching the fall out from a natural disaster. My body is in shock, I’m sick to my stomach and my mind is bending with thoughts to large for it to fully understand. I sit agog staring at any screen I can; reports flickering across my eyeballs, reading of the casualties, the extent of ...
Tottenham Hotspur Bale ruled out for rest of season
2008-02-05 05:47:00 Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale is expected to be out of action for the rest of the season with a foot injury. Bale, the 18-year-old Wales left-back, suffered a strained ligament following a tackle from Birmingham City’s Fabrice Muamba at the start of December and has only just had his cast removed. Spurs’ sporting director ...

Window Watching - Toby the Yid
2008-02-01 05:26:00 It?s the waiting that really gets me. I gaze over at the clock. The luminous hands tell what I already know, only this time they have moved a whole five minutes: 3:45 am. I turn my head the other way and observe the enormous, dark mound next to me. It?s MrstheYid. Eight hours earlier I had ...
JJ & the all new Spurs
2008-01-28 05:51:00 The laugh that went around the pub as the replay showed Safety First, Michael Dawson, pushing the ball from danger with his hand told the story of yesterday?s game. There wasn?t a whole lot of expectation of a win at Old Trafford given it?s unhappiness as our hunting ground since 1989. There wasn?t a whole ...

Tottenham Hotspur Secret For Dummies
2008-01-25 07:30:00 Kemenangan Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 atas Arsenal di ajang Carling Cup bagi saya sungguh berita luar biasa. Tapi, mengetahui rahasia sukses Tottenham Hotspur sebenarnya, keterkejutan saya makin bertambah. Pasalnya, rahasia kesuksesan Tottenham Hotspur bukan diraih dengan pembelian pemain atau strategi permainan, tapi dari makanan bagi para pemainnya. He? Sesimpel itu kah? Nyatanya begitu. Seperti yang dilansir harian ...

2008-01-14 17:03:00 Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer. Are they gluttons for punishment? How to destroy two of your club heroes in one firmly thrown stone. No keeper to be kept
2008-01-11 19:52:00 What is the point of having a second goalkeeper if you never use them? Radek Cerny must have been looking at himself every morning in the mirror wondering what else had to happen before he could actually get a game for the first team at Spurs. Robbo’s been under the microscope ever since that goal ...

Competition - Membership To Tottenham Hotspur To Be Won
2008-01-02 17:41:00 I did say that the closing date for this competition was the end of 2007 but I’m opening it up until…hang on where are we….til midnight on Friday night, 4th January 2008. If you’ve all ready entered you are at liberty to change your guess, if you haven’t then here are the rules: Send me an e-mail to thebagel@beefbagel.com with your guess for where Spurs will finish in the Premiership at the end of the 2007/8 season and, as a tie-breaker, tell me how many points we’ll finish on. The winner will receive free membership to Spurs next season, which gives you priority booking for tickets as well as a nice card and whatever little gift comes with it. If you live abroad, have a season ticket or simply cannot use the membership for whatever reason I’ll give you a prize from the Spurs Store of equal value. That said, it could be a fairly miserable time of it next season if, yes yet again, we continue to concede from set pieces. Now, I’m not ...

Aston Villa 2 Tottenham Hotspur 1
2008-01-01 13:21:00 Goals from Olof Mellberg and Martin Laursen were enough to see off Spurs but but the second half did produce some nail biting moments. Villa went ahead in the first half after Olof Mellberg scored but Spurs hit back in the second and a goal from Defoe looked like it was enough for Spurs to get a point.
The bagel of christmas present
2007-12-25 20:59:00 He came! He came! I went to bed early last night like a good little Yiddo. I came down ...
Boring, boring arsenal
2007-12-22 17:29:00 So, we lost. We did, didn’t we? I’ve only just finished watching the game from the comfort LB’s parents’ place in the west of England - so west in fact that is has become Welsh - but I’m not sure the last 90 minutes has sunk in as yet. The problem is, though, that maybe ...
Manchester City vs. Spurs: Carling Cup 1/4 Final - A Tale of Two Cities
2007-12-19 20:21:00 “I can see a lot of different areas on your CV but nothing to indicate you would want this job. So, why do you want to work in finance?” It’s the fifth time I’ve been asked this question, each time in a more different and more probing guise. The answer is, “I don’t,” and part of ...
?it tolls for thee
2007-12-17 18:04:00 Spurs are victorious away at last, Pompey are beaten, the bell is silenced. Like a good football fan, I watched MOTD2 last night; the last piece of the weekend’s joy. A Much Belated Bagel
2007-12-13 15:38:00 I’ve only just landed. My first league win at the Lane this season and what a good win it was. Did we deserve it over Man City? No, but did we deserve that badly needed points of three? We certainly did. In fact by my count we’re still one down. The real justice of the ...
Spurs vs RSC Anderlecht - Singing with the Enemy
2007-12-07 21:30:00 “Pardon, ou est ca?” The 50-year-old Anderlecht steward with the kind of face you expect to see advertising Stella Artois turns to me slowly shaking his and rolling his eyes making the international symbol for “Forget it mate.” He pushes my ticketed hand away. I look down at my seat number and then back up packed ...

2007-12-06 07:14:00 Remember this… …actually, I don’t. On our backs
2007-12-05 15:53:00 Defending is a largely a confidence issue. Bonders, Lee, Safety First and even Baby Face are all good enough at their jobs to keep clean sheets. They have all been a part of successful back lines, whether at Spurs - together or apart - or at other clubs. When conditions are right, when belief is ...
Spurs vs Birmingham - Daylight Robbery
2007-12-03 16:34:00 The omens were there all along: a new manager’s first game, a morning spent in a leisure centre all too close to the New Library and a pair of “lucky” pants that should’ve been binned a long time ago. It was so obvious. What a fool I have been. So caught up, was I, in showing off ...
Spurs vs AaB - 4-4-What?
2007-11-30 14:30:00 It’s being widely reported that what JR did at half time was to switch the play to 3-5-2 but I’m not so sure. Under MJ all was clear. One could predict the big guy’s tactical switches before the fourth official flashed up his boards, in fact before MJ thought of them himself. If we needed ...
The World?s Most Expensive Tablecloth
2007-11-28 12:50:00 …shame that. Funny how the fates of Sevilla and Spurs seemed so linked. Suddenly I see them with much more affection than the night they robbed us with the help of the referee and the Barcelona riot police. Apparently, this time around, the only way the result could have been fairer is if they’d put another five ...
Lessons from Levy
2007-11-27 15:10:00 It’s very easy to dislike Daniel Levy. It’s easy to dislike most chairman of football clubs. The only likeable one that crosses my mind is Steve Gibson of ‘Boro after last year’s famous correspondence with a football fan. But think of most chairman and you get smarmy business lying through their teeth under the awkward ...
England?s Number 2
2007-11-21 17:24:00 Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it. I’ve always laughed at the likes of Portsmouth, West Ham and any other club with a half decent, English keeper when they’ve turned up at WHL and sung, “England’s No.1, England’s, England’s No.1″ because their goalie once came on for the second half of international friendly. There ...
Arsene?s England
2007-11-20 13:46:00 England manager, Arsene Wenger, fresh from his decision to take Theo Walcott to Germany 2006, has decided that he’ll be starting Robocrouch up front as a lone striker, with no place for either Sergei Bent or the Little Yiddo. He said: “In these games when you are a manager you are tempted to play with a ...
Villa the Kid
2007-11-19 18:12:00 It’s a curious start to the week as Punchbag Face leaps out of his Birmingham frying pan and into the licking flames of Wigan Athletic Football Club although his actions become a little easier on the aching brain when you take into consideration the £2m a year that he’s going to be earning.
