Johnny Colt Rocks The Travel Channel
2009-09-08 04:08:00
He was well spoken, and I took an immediate liking to him. Yes, I was hooked after the first few minutes. I think it was about 10 AM this Labor Day morning when I joined my parent’s for breakfast, and decided to take control of the kitchen TV.  I stumbled across the start of a No Reservations episode set in Laos, which I had visited on my RTW trip last year.  After breakfast, and that episode, ...Your Free Subscriber Download Download "Dare Me!" now. No Reservations Season Premiere
2008-07-07 03:51:00
Tonight's the night and you don't want to miss it! For all my fellow Anthony Bourdain fans, the newest season of No Reservations kicks off tonight. This season promises to be another no-holds-barred romp across the globe starting with a visit to Laos.Check out the video HERE to see what this season has in store - and tune in tonight, Monday July 7th at 10 p.m. ET.If you've never watched No Reservations, my only question would be, "Why not?" Anthony Bourdain does travel the only way it really matters; as it pertains to cuisine. Any culture is best revealed in its food, and Mr. Bourdain dives right in with his unmatched style and unfettered wit. He may be raunchy and downright eyebrow raising at times, but that's what makes this show one that can't be missed.Make sure you're tuned in tonight - I know I will be.

Except The Travel Channel, Maybe
2008-03-01 17:41:00
This past Eid (not "Muslim Christmas"), my lilliputian cousins drove half a day from the hick capital of the Cherokee nation to regale us with their biting wit, painful jabs, and three-day-old McDonald's leftovers. Being dark-toned Pakistanis in the Native American prairies has made the brats even more bizarre. I'm confident visiting relatives would say the same about us, as transplants in the Bible Belt, but this is distinctly worse. As former residents of Ronkonkoma, Long Island, they feel an affinity to Native American culture that progressed to a point that screamed KIDS, WE MUST RELOCATE TO THE CAPITAL. You simply cannot move over 1,000 miles to a random location and surprise your wife: "Honey! Look, mo' Injuns!" One of my bite-sized cousins is addicted to meteorological phenomena and monitors them with religious zeal. In the era of Disney Channel and the rouge-cheeked Zac Efron, something even I am helpless prey to (I deserve to be flogged), his favorite channels ...

"If the Travel Channel and The Food Network had a baby..."
2007-08-10 04:39:00
I wasn't planning to put this up on the blog but then I decided it's about the blog so I should, right? It's kinda like an important milestone in your baby's life and not adding it to her baby book. Not that I would ever compare having a blog to having a baby, so you mothers out there can put that knife down and back away slowly. ;) So anyway, a few months ago, Alynda posted about her blog

I’ve been a fan of the series, having watched the three previous seasons where 5 travel journalists (or TJ’s as they’re called) backpacked around Europe, Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia, and the United States.
