Lakota Oyate: Recovering Lakota territory after trail of broken treaties
2008-01-04 22:25:00 by Brenda Norrell The American West No More, Lakota Nation Releases National Map - Lakota Natural Land-Base Divides 5 U.S. State Boundaries "As long as the grass grows, and the rivers flow, this land will always be yours." - Lakota Freedom Delegation A continuing effort of the Lakota Freedom Delegation, released a map of national boundaries which will force state and Federal government in five states to begin the process of planning their governmental initiatives without tens of thousands of acres of land. Meanwhile, the Lakota people begin the process of recovering their natural land-base without U.S. government interference. Protection of sacred sites and confrontation with exploitative government and private enterprises that have been removing or polluting Lakota lands comes to the forefront. The map, which can be found at www.lakotaoyate.com provides an initial glimpse into a free and independent Lakota. "The free Lakota nation is regaining the ...
Lakota Indians Withdraw Treaties Signed With U.S. 150 Years Ago
2007-12-20 17:19:00 WASHINGTON — The Lakota Indians, who gave the world legendary warriors Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, have withdrawn from treaties with the United States. "We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us,'' long-time Indian rights activist Russell Means said. A delegation of Lakota leaders has delivered a message to the State Department, and said they were unilaterally withdrawing from treaties they signed with the federal government of the U.S., some of them more than 150 years old. The group also visited the Bolivian, Chilean, South African and Venezuelan embassies, and would continue on their diplomatic mission and take it overseas in the coming weeks and months. Lakota country includes parts of the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. The new country would issue its own passports and driving licences, and living there wou...

Treaties
2007-07-15 03:58:00 We probably haven't bribed the Russians enough either. They used to be a superpower and they're not content that they own half the gas stations on the East Coast of the United States. We pretty much do whatever we want to do these days, even when it means stationing troops and missiles in territories that used to be in the Soviet Union, whether the Russians like it or not.Sometimes they Russians are very wrong and very self-interested, and sometimes, they prove to be right in the end. The Russians, and the French and Germans for that matter, really didnt have a problem with Saddam Hussein. They could do a lot of good business with him.So call me cynical, I think it's time to start bribing the Russians again. Hell why not? If the North Koreans can get what they want, why can't the Russians? The Russians have 10,000 nuclear weapons. They're sitting on the largest land mass in the world and it loaded with oil, gas and natural resources that they haven't even begun to tap yet. The...

Treaties of Sagauli and Sinchula -Our Colonial Past
2007-03-09 11:01:00 Sagauli is a small town railway station that I pass by on my way to Raxaul, the town on the Indian border town bordering the Nepalese town of Birganj. Sagauli is a railway junction on the Delhi - Muzaffarpur route and basically nothing more. Yet a treaty signed here as far back with subsequent modifications still determines the character of the relationship between India and Nepal and even the
