What Did Poor Pets Get This Christmas?
2011-12-27 10:00:00 Though it's reported that British pets suffered, gift-wise, from the downsized economy this Christmas, the American Pet Products Association estimated that 53 percent of dogs and 38 percent of cats in the U.S. received Christmas gifts this year - a relatively good stash for them, I'd say. But what about pets from families who can hardly afford to feed them, let alone buy Santa hats for them?
Eight Trends To Watch In China's Luxury Sector
2011-12-25 08:58:00 Interesting (and blisffully short and to the point) PowerPoint on luxury goods over at the The China Observer Blog, entitled, "Eight Trends to Watch in China's Luxury Sector." What I found most interesting about the eight trends is that none of them came as much of a surprise to me, and it is not as though I now much at all about luxury goods in China. The eight trends did not come as a surprise because they seem to show that China's luxury goods consumers are not all that different from luxury goods consumers in most of the rest of the world. A year or so ago I read an article (wish I could find and link to it) that posited that the elites in most countries around the world have a lot in common with each other and more than they do with the non-elites in their home countries. I buy that and this eight trends PowerPoint seems to be further proof of that. Do you agree?

2012 Security Trends
2011-12-15 13:26:00 2011 is coming to an end, so now it’s time to try to see what we have to expect for the next 12 months: Social networks: Social engineering techniques exploiting users’ weaknesses have become the leading attack method in social networks. Trending topics such as the Olympics or the next US Presidential elections will be used as a bait. Cybercriminals will continue to target social media sites to steal personal data. Malware increase: In the past few years, the number of malware threats has grown exponentially, and everything seems to indicate that the trend will continue in 2012. In fact, malware is the weapon use by cybercriminals to carry on their attacks. Trojans: they are cyber-crooks’ weapon of choice for their attacks, as shown by the fact that three out of every four new malware strains created in 2011 were Trojans, designed to sit silently on users’ computers and steal their information. Cyberwar: or maybe it is more accurate to say cyberespionage. 2011 has...
