MICHAEL STRAHAN MAKES TRENT GREEN/CHEAPSHOT JOKE
2007-11-01 11:52:00 After getting taken to the cleaners by his ex-wife in a divorce settlement, Michael Strahan isn’t the first person you think of when it comes to investing advice. #97 joined Jim Cramer on CNBC’s Mad Money last month to talk about football, investing, and his new book, Inside the Helmet: My Life as a Sunday Afternoon Warrior. The interview didn’t make me want to run out and buy the book, but the snippets that Cramer talked about were interesting. Here are a few things that stuck out to me: Michael Strahan had $3.3 mil in a checking account and got scammed for $1.6mil. Michael Strahan doesn’t want to take a dollar and make a million dollars. Michael Strahan owns one stock, and it’s Under Armour. The best part of the interview is at the 3:20 mark of the video when Cramer is chumming it up with Strahan and doing some play fighting. MS: Watch yourself now. I might have some flashbacks and then we’re in trouble. JC: I’m good at cheapshot. I c...

Trent Green placed on Injured Reserve; Kerry Reed activated
2007-10-20 21:41:00 Well there was a little talk this week, especially in the papers, about how a storm was quiety brewing between the Dolphins and Trent Green. Green was feeling better and better since his concussion and wanted to play again this season. Cam Cameron and the Dolphins didn't want Trent to risk any further damage. Oh, and the Dolphins wanted to get looks at both Cleo Lemon and John Beck this year and Green's return might hinder that. So how would this end? We have our answer. Trent Green was placed on Injured Reserve, ending his 2007 season. Here's what Cam said in a statement: "At this point, this is the best thing for Trent and the team. The doctors have prescribed rest for now. No long-term decisions regarding Trent's future have been made." So will this end Trent's career? It's too early to tell at this point. But here's what Green says about the move: I appreciate the way the organization has handled this. I realize this i...

Trent Green can't take a hint
2007-10-16 14:05:00 Trent Green is dumber than we initially thought. It's not enough that he was almost pronounced DOA on the field not two weeks ago, but he's contemplating coming back. "Right now my mind-set is to come back and play," Green said. "Everything has been real positive up to this point. That has given

Mysteries Needing Answers
2007-10-11 17:57:00 Some questions have befuddled me lately in the world of sports. If you have answers to these, please, let me know.- A betting scandal in tennis? Who the hell bets on tennis?- When did Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas and Cincinnati become football schools?- At what point in time did Nebraska football stop being Nebraska football?- I don't dislike the guy, but is anyone else starting to be a wee bit annoyed by Tony Romo (or to put it better, the media's fascination with him)? Seriously, what has he done yet? - Evander Holyfield is still fighting? Why?- For that matter, why is Trent Green even considering playing football again?- If Colorado can sell out their playoff games, why can't Arizona?- Anyone else get the feeling Matt Leinart might become a bust sometime down the road?- The Knicks signed Allan Houston? Seriously?- How long until Jazz coach Jerry Sloan pummels Andrei Kirilenko?- When will this stupid post end? Oh, right now. Good.
Trent Green: "He outweighs me by over 100 lbs. Where shld I blk hi
2007-10-09 23:54:00 Let me start this off by saying if you aren't reading Peter King's Monday Morning QB" column on SI.com each week, then you're just not that big of a football fan. It's loaded with great stuff every week and it's usually where I start out my weekly Monday reading around the internet. Really, it's great stuff. And no, I don't know King at all. But his thoughts and insight makes for some great reading. So what does all this have to do with the Dolphins. Well King talks about, in the opening of his article, a text-messaging exchange he had with Trent Green on Sunday night. Here's how it went: King to Green, 5:14 p.m.: "peter king here. just texting to wish you well and to say hope you come out of this okay.'' Green to King, 9:06 p.m.: "Will b ok. Not like lst yr. TG.'' King to Green: 9:08 p.m.: "hey -- how about johnson calling your block a malicious hit? feel better. peter.'' (And this is the one I found interesting.) Green to King, 9:1...

Trent Green?s Concussion Courtesy Of Travis Jackson
2007-10-08 02:19:00 Today during the Miami Dolphin’s vs. The Houston Texans, Trent Green threw a low block on Travis Jackson and ended up earning his second brutal concussion in the last year. The Trent Green/John Beck Situation: A Voice of Reason
2007-09-19 21:24:00 It's no secret to those who read my site on a regular basis that I can't wait to see John Beck get his chance to start. The kid looks the part of something special, everything from his physical tools to the way he handles himself off the field. And already, there has been an uproar in Miami, with many fans already calling for Beck to replace Trent Green after just 2 games. If you do read this site often, then you know that I'm not in favor of starting Beck yet. I'm not saying he shouldn't start at all this year, but just not yet. My argument when I originally posted this was guys like Patrick Ramsey, Tim Couch, and David Carr. These 3 guys were clearly put in too soon, behind very shaky offensive lines, and got beat up game after game, got their confidence shaken, and became NFL afterthoughts. Others point to Peyton Manning as the poster child for starting your QB as a rookie and letting him learn. Then they also point to how ot...

Dolphins Weekend Round-Up: Zach Thomas; Trent Green; Cap Update
2007-07-02 07:02:00 THOMAS NOT A HALL-OF-FAMER? Pete Prisco, of CBS Sportsline, was a guy I always thought was a good writer; a guy that I tought actually did know his stuff. But now I begin to wonder. He recently did an article about current players and their chance at making the Hall of Fame. Apparently, Zach Thomas doesn't even have a chance, according to Prisco. He has Thomas listed in the category of "No Way," but has Ray Lewis as a definite and Brian Urlacher as a "Needs More Work." How can Urlacher be closer to Canton than Thomas? Just one glance at the numbers and it's easy to see that, if anything, Thomas has a better shot than Urlacher. Thomas averages 9.6 tackles per game (6 solo) while Urlacher averages 7.9 tackles per game (6 solo). Thomas also has a higher forced turnover rate per game (0.2) than Urlacher does (0.17) and has 4 career TDs while Brian has none. But hey, what do I know? I guess I'm just too big of a "homer" to se...

First Trent Green Update
2007-06-08 19:17:00 In his blog, Greg Bedard reports that Trent Green and Cleo Lemon are both working with the first team in the 11-on-11 drills. And the first big play of the day came from Green: First big play: Green just hit Chambers on a perfect 35-yard fly pattern down the right sideline over Jason Allen. Great pass by Green. Better catch by Chambers; Other than that, Bedard says that there have been a lot of dumpoffs but that all 3 QBs (Green, Lemon, Beck) have "looked sharp."

What They're Saying: Trent Green Edition
2007-06-08 07:03:00 Now that the dust has begun to clear, now is a good time to go around the web and see what others are saying in regards to the Dolphins recent aquisition of Trent Green. Let's start with Armando Salguero: If the Dolphins let go of Culpepper, by either releasing or trading him, they effectively establish the pecking order for the quarterback position. They settle an unsettled position. But they also expose coach Cam Cameron as someone who was not sincere when he said that every position is open to competition. If every position is indeed open to competition, you can't just waive or trade a player such as Culpepper without giving him a chance to, well, compete. And you really can't do it if he's not on the field and 100 percent healthy because that shows you had no intention of ever having a legitimate competition in the first place. Aside from casting an aspersion on Cameron's word, such a move would also send a bad message to the players competing at other positions. How...

Trent Green Reaction
2007-06-06 07:01:00 So the Dolphins have traded what will likely be a 2008 4th round pick for Trent Green. My initial reaction? Though quite a few Dolphin fans are against this, I actually like the move despite being a Daunte Culpepper fan and supporter. I feel like he was given a raw deal as he will not even have a shot to battle for the starting QB job when all he did while in Miami was work his tail off for this team. However, my thoughts are simple. Trent Green is the safer bet for the 2007 Miami Dolphins. Whatever happens beyond 2007 is unknown, as it's likely that this will be John Beck's team by some point in 2008. So why do I say that Green is the safer bet? First of all, Culpepper was just given clearance to fully participate at mini-camp (which is non-contact, by the way). Green, on the other hand, has been participating in Kansas City's mini-camp and, according to John Clayton's report 2 days ago on ESPN, Green has looked very sharp. That's the obvious reason why Green is ...

Trent Green is a Miami Dolphin
2007-06-06 04:09:00 Of course this kind of breaking news occurs when I'm at the gym. As I'm working out, I look up at one of the TVs and see breaking news on ESPNews. So I apologize for being a little late. Regardless, the Dolphins have acquired Trent Green for a conditional 2008 5th round pick. The pick could move up to a 4th round pick if Green reaches some incentives. It's likely that the key incentive is the number of games he starts for the Dolphins, but that's just speculation. So what does this mean for Daunte Culpepper? Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports that the Dolphins may be shopping Culpepper and two possible destinations would be Jacksonville or St. Louis. He did say, though, that this was just speculation and he has no official word on this. Much more coming on this later tonight so stay tuned.

Trent Green Holds Press Conference
2007-05-22 21:58:00 Trent Green just finished a press conference he held upon arrival for the Chiefs' OTAs. I'm working on getting his actual words, but you can click here to get to a summary of what was said courtesy of Arrowhead Pride. After reading that, I'd be interested in hearing his tone of voice. To me, though, it seems like Green feels like a very frustrated person right now. And who wouldn't be? You have to feel bad for the guy. Having Carl Peterson for your boss has to take a toll on you! Hopefully, this can get resolved sooner rather than later. Ideally, it'd be nice to give up only a 6th rounder and then be able to keep Green and DC together in Miami at least through training camp. But I'm not sure how likely that is. I guess we all need to continue to just wait and see... **UPDATE** ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that the Dolphins are willing to up their offer for Trent Green to a conditional 5th round pick. However, he reports that the Dolphins have kind of...

Trent Green Update
2007-04-30 20:19:00 The Kansas City Star is reporting that Trent Green's agent, Jim Steiner, has said that Green is not interested in returning to the Cheifs. Here's what he said: "Trent's not going to be returning," Steiner said. "They've said Brodie Croyle is going to be the No. 1 or No. 2 quarterback. They brought back Damon Huard. They've told Trent they want to get younger. So the Chiefs determined that, not Trent. That's not going to happen. It's grossly unfair of the Chiefs to keep Trent on their roster." Despite the fact that Carl Peterson (who is going to come out of this looking VERY bad) actually called Green the team's starter, everyone knows that Green is not in KC's 2007 plans. They re-signed Damon Huard to start while Brodie Croyle gains experience as the #2 guy. And Green has the right to refuse to restructure his contract and, therefore, holds the power in this situation. There's no way KC can carry his salary this year. Regardless of how stubbor...

Trent Green Deal Nearing
2007-03-23 20:58:00 Adam Schefter is reporting on NFL Network that the Dolphins and Chiefs are VERY close to a deal that would send Trent Green to Miami. It's believed that Trent Green has agreed to a restructuring of his contract and that it will greatly reduce his salary but feature many incentives. The hold-up now is believd to be what Miami will send Kansas City for compensation. It was thought that they would send the 7th round pick Miami received from New England for Wes Welker, but apparently the Chiefs want more than that. However, it's a good sign, I suppose, that Green wants to be in Miami, according to his agent. But what does this mean for Daunte Culpepper? Only time will tell. But I'm starting to get the feeling that I wasted money on a DC jersey last summer...

Rumblings: Trent Green to the Phins?
2007-03-01 17:05:01 It’s pretty well known by now that Joey Harrington will be cut if not today by the end of the week. That leaves a veteran void behind Daunte Culpepper. No one really knows the status of Daunte or what will be the status of Daunte by training camps. Cleo Lemon is slotted to challenge DC for the starting job this upcoming season. But what happens if neither perform up to par? The Dolphins would be left in another sticky quarterback situation. Enter Trent Green, the veteran presence the Dolphins need to step in at anytime if needed. And not just step in at anytime to fill a void. Step in and actually WIN! Trent Green is not on the block as of today, but Damon Huard signed a three year contract extension yesterday, leaving speculation that Green is on his way out. Alex Marvez reports in his Sun-Sentinel column… The Dolphins would have interest in acquiring Kansas City’s Trent Green if placed on the trading block by the Chiefs, a source said at the NFL Scouti...
