2008-05-30 21:12:00 They're filming a new Colin Farrell-starrer on my doorstep. As I made my way home, I saw assembled before me gardai, technicians and lots of standing people (only some of them bystanders). Seeing a name on the director's chair I did a quick IMDB search. The movie was 'Triage', by Serbian director Danis Tanovic. Interesting, but not that interesting. If there's one thing I know about filming it's that there's a lot of waiting involved, and I can't be a*sed (no dinner yet for one). One thing I did note, however, was a man with a laptop sitting right next to the director's chair, presumably watching the newly minted digital takes.

So with only a little grumbling I headed up to "the box."The first card I pick up says "lump." I call the patient in and it is a twentish male who states he has had a lump on his neck for 3 years. Yes he has a doctor. No he has not gone to his doctor about this problem. No nothing has changed recently. I want to say, but I don't-"so let me get this straight. you've had this lump for three long years. In all those three long years you never thought to go see your doctor about it. You'll see that for yourself when In Bruges opens here next weekend, but already the signs are there - the fact that he's signing on for interesting dramas like Triage rather than epics that call for a blond mullet is part of the clue.The new drama casts him as a photojournalist who returns from a dangerous assignment without his colleague and best friend. We're guessing (dependant on genre) he either suffers survivor's guilt (serious drama), or real guilt cause it turns out he was somehow responsible (serious thriller). Paz Vega and Christopher Lee have also signed up, and Bosnian director Danis Tanovic (Best Foreign Film Oscar-winner No Man's Land) is taking the helm. The plot of the film revolves around a photojournalist who returns home following a dangerous assignment without his colleague and best friend. The film also stars Spanish actress Paz Vega and The Lord of the Rings star Christopher Lee. It will be produced by Parallel Films' Alan Moloney, and ASAP Films' Cedomir Kolar and Marc Baschet. The film will be shot on locations in Ireland and at the Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante in Spain from April to June.Source

2008-03-29 04:38:00 How many times today did someone tell me they were having back pain, dental pain, extremity pain, head ache and so on? Lots.How many of them took some sort of pain killer to see if it made the pain better? None.Apparently I am not the only one this bothers.I'm not suggesting Tylenol for obvious deformity of a limb, thunderclap headache or the like but if I have some sort of musculo-skeletal pain or headache I try something OTC and see if it goes away. My initial thought is not "must go to the ER for this headache I've had for an hour."c'mon people.
