For background on Le Maldobrìe radio show out of Trieste, Italy 20-30 years ago, see my post here. The language of Le Maldobrìe is Triestine Venetian, so if you can't speak that language, you may not get much use out of it. I couldn't understand a word of it, but it was fun to listen to it anyway.Le Maldobrìe 0 This episode has to do with the popularity of contraband tobacco before World War 1. Production of this contraband tobacco was in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Bartolo is a sailor from Trieste who was involved in the running of contraband tobacco from Bosnia to Italy. The 6th Classic Rallye Vienna-Trieste
2008-03-13 00:00:00 In less than 5 months, the Classic Rallye Vienna-Trieste is taking place the sixth consecutive time. As you already might know, there is 2 classes - Competition (Regularity) and Race. In both, the organizers are expecting 50-60 cars each. In the Race Class, they are expecting participants from Austria, Spain, UK, Slovenia, Italy, Germany and Hungary. The route incorporates 13 special stages, including 2 race tracks (one in Slovenia and one in Croatia, namely Rijeka/Grobnik). This year's sponsors are Linn High Therm, Kattus and Doxa, and two new sponsors: Brose Automobiltechnik and Eduard Kettner. Doxa will present its special "Vienna-Trieste" chronograph, which will be sold on a very limited basis. You can visit the Classic Rallye Vienna-Trieste at the motor sport fair in Vienna (March 15th-16th) or at Techno Classica in Essen (March 27th-30th). UNA PASSEGGIATA A TRIESTE
2007-10-25 12:18:00 E' da poco passata l'alba. Esco per godermi la fresca aria mattutina di un'altra afosa giornata estiva, qui a Trieste. Piazza Unità d'Italia è deserta, come è raro vedere, con un leggero venticello che si arrampica lungo le pareti istoriate del Palazzo del Governo e scompiglia le bandiere di quello del Municipio, in fondo alla piazza. Raggiungo il molo dove un semaforo con il rosso e il verde dirige un traffico che non esiste. Sul lungomare, lunghe file di bitte sembrano eserciti di pedoni immobili. Mi affaccio sul mare luminoso e guardo la costa ancora celata da una pallida bruma. Lì c'è Miramare e più in là il Castello di Duino, dove la leggenda narra che il fantasma di una donna vaghi, come tutti noi, in cerca di pace. Mi incammino verso via S. Nicolò, resa famosa perchè frequentata da Joyce e Svevo, e raggiungo il Canale Grande. La mia passeggiata continua e, passato il Teatro Romano, mi immergo nei vicoli della Città Vecchia ( Zità Vecia ? ... No! vissuda) Qui, fra strade ...

5th Classic Rallye Trieste - Vienna: Engine thunder and classic cars
2007-04-18 00:00:00 A journey from Italy's Trieste to Austria's Vienna - this is the Classic Rallye Trieste - Vienna. The difference to a regular drive: classic cars, regularity suspense and race feeling. This distinct event is being organized for the fifth consecutive time. Again, this year two classes take part: competition (regularity) and race. Two race tracks are included in the 4-day classic rally, plus selective special stages in both categories. The classic cars rally starts on August 22nd and ends on August 25th, 2007. In race class (FIA appendix K), the organizers have planned more than 200 kilometres of full speed. Up to 10 special stages are on the schedule - two "Linn High Therm" race tracks, three hill climbs, two or three classic rally special stages (no gravel or sand) plus one or two superstages.
