Tucson Night Blooming Cereus
2008-06-08 03:58:00 One night this past week I had the opportunity to photograph a Night Blooming Cereus cactus. Each bud only blooms for one night. They start to open just before sunset. The cactus I was photographing had 3 opening the same night and a single bloom the following night. It is only the third or forth time this cactus has bloomed in 17 years.

Termites in Tucson Not Terminal
2008-05-27 17:48:00 Everyone says about Tucson and termites: "If you don't have them you will get them." They are that prevalent in our environment. They are subterranean and as the saying about vampires goes "They can't stand the light of day" neither can these termites so they build themselves little tunnels to stay out of the sunlight.

Umbro England Home Jersey 07-08
2008-05-25 22:02:00 Lets talk for a moment about why I am telling you about SoccerPro.com's products. The great folks at SoccerPro.com approached me to test a choice of products on their behalf and post the results to this blog in order to give you, their buying public, a better idea of what their on-line store stocks. As an Englishman I have followed football (soccer) since I can remember, getting heavily involved from ten years old on. When I emigrated to America as a student in East Texas I was the goalkeeper on the Ambassador College Big Sandy student team. My college studies were in journalism and broadcasting and although I never followed up on either of these subjects for a profession I have dabbled in both over the years. Living in Oklahoma City I coached my three sons in soccer, my middle son Brian actually went to England to try out for the English national school boy team. His chances of being picked as one of the final 23 out of 6,000 entrants were slim, but to my knowledge he still remain...

Tucson Real Estate This is our Market
2008-05-19 16:10:00 This is our market. It is what it is given all that has and is occuring in our country economically. New Home Construction is tied to Mortgage even more than it is tied to new construction. If buyers can't get financing to buy a house then builders can't sell them.

Tucson and San Diego Highest For Border Violence
2008-05-14 21:06:00 This scary little factoid made me shake my head for the 1,000,000th time and wonder what Bush is thinking. There have been 362 assaults against officers during the first four months of 2008, according to Border Patrol statistics. The pattern has been that when more security resources are deployed along the U.S. border, violence against officers ...

Tucson Ironwood Trees in Bloom
2008-05-06 21:01:00 This week I'm seeing the ironwood trees full of blossoms. They are an amazing tree and not far from where I live there is a 20 acre preserve for them. The high school just down the road is "Ironwood High School". This is the time of year they are easiest to identify because of the purple and white blossoms.
Norman Finkelstein visits Tucson
2008-05-06 10:48:00 I am always amazed by how the Palestinian-Israeli conflict seems to bring out the best and worst in people. It is as if it there is an unwritten rule that it must elicit the most polarized positions imaginable. No issue demonstrates more clearly the necessity for free speech in society. The talk I attended tonight, given by Professor Norman Finkelstein, proved to be no exception in that so much hate, hope, knowledge and ignorance can coexist in the same room.Read the full post at: thescienceofgovernment

What does the price of rice have to do with Tucson Real Estate
2008-05-02 01:23:00 No it isn't that housing is being rationed in Tucson. No it isn't that houses are cheaper to buy than a bag of rice.

Tucson Anti-Illegal Immigration Rally Draws 200
2008-05-01 20:03:00 This isn’t a bad number of people to show up on a Thursday morning. Brandishing American flags and signs reading “Stop the Invasion,” about 200 people showed up Thursday morning at De Anza Park to take part in a march against illegal immigration. [source] As an American, I am proud of these folks getting out to march in support of enforcing immigration law and border security. Across town, about 300 people showed up to march “for immigrant rights”. A few miles away, another group - carrying images of the Virgin of Guadalupe and activist Cesar Chavez - promoted immigrant rights and condemned racism and the war. Well that seems like a pretty wide range of things to march for in one shot, but God bless them for getting out to practice free speech. Somehow I don’t think they were marching on behalf of legal immigrants. I think they were probably marching to support people who break immigration law. They were trying to frame illegal immigration into...
