Turkey Day
2007-11-28 19:09:00
I hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving. I'm a little late in sending out my holiday greeting. It's just been crazy with the move and everythingWe spend Thanksgiving with friends of ours. It was quiet and nice. Not to mention delicious! I ate way too much! The next morning my girlfriend picked me up at 3:45 AM to hit the Black Friday sales. We went to Kohl's first. Apparently I went white when the sales lady gave me the total. :o). I did however purchase the bulk of my Christmas presents. After we went to Fred Myers and enjoyed their free hot chocolate and donut holes. I managed to spend a little more money there too. We ended our shopping spree at Micheal's Craft Store. It was fun. It was also great to get out of the house for a little bit. I can't believe I'm still trying to put it together. I know it takes time...

Turkey Day Recap
2007-11-26 03:45:00
I don't know about the rest of you, but I was useless for the three days subsequent to that frenzy of cleaning, cooking, and gut-stuffing known as Thanksgiving. We shared Turkey Day with our friends and their child. The wife, like me, is a Celtic-type who somehow married a Russian Jew and is now -- willingly or not -- learning the ins and outs of Russian culture. My husband jokes that she and I

Tense Turkey Day at the Ghetto Buffet
2007-11-25 07:27:00
Thanksgiving was very interesting this year. My dad hates to have people at his house, I couldn't cook at my house since I was told I would be cooking at my mom's house, and we are fighting with the rest of my dad's side of the family. SO my dad decides we are going to go to the Country Buffet. Nothing against Country Buffet, but I felt so ghetto eating there for Thanksgiving. I really wanted the big family table instead of two booths, the big turkey carved at the table, the sweet potatoes that did not come from an industrial size can, and the pies cooling on the counter while the kids sneak finger fulls of whipped cream. But instead I got to wait in a huge line, have a lady bum rush me to get to the meat counter, and eat instant potatoes. But I made the best of it. The point was that I was spending time with my family. Even if I had to turn around in the booth to talk to them. If Country Buffet wasn't non-Thanksgiving-ish enough, there was a tense feeling hanging over our two b...
Post-Turkey Day Makeup (camouflaging the extra pounds!)
2007-11-23 19:01:00
I don't know about everyone else, but between Thanksgiving and Christmas I turn into an eating machine. My Grandma is constantly baking all sorts of festive goodies, and my coworkers are always bringing in tons of fattening snacks. How can you say no to a cookie shaped like Santa? Thankfully, there are a few ways to hide the extra weight on your face. First of all, make sure your foundation shade is correct. Since we all get naturally more pale in the Winter, your Summer foundation simply won't cut it. Take the time to go up to a makeup counter and try on a few different shades to find your perfect match. If it blends into your skin without an obvious line, you've found a match! Once you have a good base, you can create contour with blush. Since I am very fair skinned, I tend to use a rosy blush shade and a silvery-pink highlighter. Darker skinned gals can use more of a golden highlighter. With a brush, create the chiseling of your cheekbone. Find the correct spot to shade by s...

Turkey Day Not Good For Long Term Goals
2007-11-23 03:43:00
Today’s “feast” was the first holiday in my life when I was actually concerned about my weight. I think I held up pretty well. I avoided the appetizers other than a few pickles and some raw broccoli. I skipped out before the pie was served. And I managed to take ...

happy turkey day!
2007-11-22 19:01:00
Well, whaddaya know? It turns out doing some advance prep last night seems to have paid off. The preserved lemon-saffron-herb butter bird's in the oven, the flavors of the spiced cranberry-orange sauce have had a chance to mingle overnight, the andouillie sausage -cornbread stuffing is ready to bake, the turkey stock is ready to turn into gravy, the champagne is chilling - and all that leaves me with a little time to chill myself before I need to start the veg. Just enough time to wish all of you and yours a very, happy Thanksgiving.Wherever you are, and whatever you may be doing today, I hope you're enjoying the holiday to the fullest.Above, one of my favorite images this time of year - A vintage pic of the Macy's Turkey Day Parade. Far cry from the children's television spectacle that it is today.Cheers!

Working on potential real estate investments is totally fascinating, and finding deals that fit a profitable formula is both extremely challenging, and extremely rewarding. Happy Turkey Day

Redskins doing good, I spot Jason Campbell, Gregg Williams, Rock Cartwright, and I think Phillip Daniels? I'm going blind though. Happy Thanksgiving to my reader(s), fellow bloggers, and football fans everywhere, who may or may not be watching Green Bay at Detroit, NY Jets at Dallas, or Indy at Atlanta. I'll be watching them all, with especial interest in the Detroit game. We probably won't be catching Green Bay any time soon in the standings and they have a tie breaker against us, anyways. We're only a game back on Detroit, howeva, should they lose today. Root against them. This was pointed out in a diary by Blitzburgh where he urges Redskins fans to chin up and get pumped about the season. Let me see what happens this week and I may just follow orders. I'm going to go Give Thanks by eating turkey, if that makes sense. This is your gameday open thread, and I wish you and yours a fun, safe, and happy Thanksgiving. Gobble gobble gobble HTTR

Turkey Day Fun Stuff: NBC Auctions, Cool Tools, & Tin Man
2007-11-22 16:02:00
We hope you’re having a great Thanksgiving. In case football isn’t your ideal way to spend the day (I’ll promise to try and not judge you) then here are a few alternatives: NBC is going to be auctioning off props, costumes, and other material from some of its top shows, including Isaac’s fortune telling paintings from Heroes, Michael Scott high fashion from The Office, and the family crest of Prince Gerhardt von Hapsburg (Paul Reubens) from 30 Rock. The auction starts on the 19th, and ends on Dec. 3rd, and is hosted at www.nbc.com/auction. A portion of the proceeds go to the United Way and its partner organizations. “Cool Tools” gives viewers an inside look at the latest innovations and coolest gadgets on the market today, and it’s hosted by comedian Chris Grundy. The show airs Thursdays at 9pm ET, with a special 2-hour premier this Thursday Nov. 22 starting at 8. The “Cool Tools” online content is really comprehensiv...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! Here's hoping everyone has a wonderful holiday, filled with food, family and football!  Feel free to use this entry as an open thread to discuss any of today's games.  It starts off well enough with the Packers and Lions, but goes in the tank after that, which is ok, since the tryptophan usually kicks in around halftime of the Dallas game. in any case, enjoy Turkey Day and thanks for making MileHighReport.com what it is today!

turkey day - thanksgiving in america
2007-11-21 18:29:00
tomorrow is my second thanksgiving and i like eddie izzard's point of view. "the founding fathers landed in 16..., they set off from plymouth and landed in plymouth, how lucky is that ... we can raise our families here, we can practice our religion here, there's nobody here, a land empty of human existence ... who the fuck are these guys [native americans] ... no, we don't want any of your food ... meanwhile that winter ... excuse me, do you have any food?" in that manner, happy turkey day ... Happy Turkey Day…Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. Centuries later, the recipes for Thanksgiving meals include almost every imaginable accoutrement. For the diet conscious, turkeys are a good ...

Well, I'm trying to get more organized, so that helped the stress. I actually installed Outlook, but just the calendar part because I hate the Outlook mail program. Anyway, even though it did take up a chunk of time to set it up, it has some neat features that help remind me what things I want to get done that day by popping up and reminding me with a little box. I'm ok as long as I don't put more than one or two things per day!I did finally start my Christmas cards..hopefully I can get them all done by next weekend! I have a lot to send out, not just for family and friends, but for my site's volunteers as well, so it's like 150 or more. Travel Woes This Turkey Day
2007-11-16 18:07:00
For those of you who are regular visitors to Me&Me, you won’t be surprised to hear that experts are expecting this Thanksgiving to be a dreadful time for travelers. Heck, even the President is getting on the “we need to fix this” plane—ahem, wagon—by opening up military bases to be used as “express lanes” this Turkey Day. We bet he’s thankful Air Force One doesn’t ever have to land at JFK. Also in the news, many Americans are planning on ditching the turkey, parades, and football for a trip abroad. An expert from the Air Transport Association expects international traffic on U.S. airlines to increase by 8% from last year. How do you say “delay” in French?

Turkey Day Meltdowns
2007-11-15 19:09:00
photo by scruff35 Thanksgiving is easily my least favorite holiday for obvious reasons. It’s the one day of the year where the entire point is to eat as much food as you can in front of everyone you know. It’s a nightmare in real life. Last year I tried to do 2 different dinners, only to wind up having a panic attack at my sister’s house and having to bail out before the food was even done being cooked. I remember feeling so embarrassed and upset that day because I couldn’t understand what was wrong with me. This was when I was just learning about anxiety and panic attacks and hadn’t quite nailed it all down yet. Then to make matters worse, the next morning all the girls on my in-law side of the family had to do the early morning shopping. When they were starting to slow down and talk about going out to breakfast, suddenly I started to feel nauseous. Still not sure why I had the reaction I did but knowing it had to do with eating around others, I had to make t...

T.I. Drops Visitor Request for Turkey Day
2007-11-09 04:39:00
T.I. has dropped the request to allow extra guests into his house for a Thanksgiving Day celebration, citing strong opposition from prosecutors handling the high profile case.Prosecutors claimed that T.I. was seeking special treatment and said that since his release, he has submitted a list with 95 names, making it difficult for court officials to conduct background checks on each individual. So it looks it will be just Tiny and the children...
T.I. wants to celebrate Turkey Day with his family:
2007-11-07 17:43:00
In a motion filed in federal court Tuesday, T.I — who was born Clifford Harris Jr. — requested that the judge waive the no-more-than-three visitors-at-a-time provision of his $3 million bond. Harris, 27, wants the exception only for Turkey Day, only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and only for a group of visitors whose names he submitted for approval. In another motion Tuesday, Harris also asked the judge to allow access for workers who can come clean his yard, pool and home. Harris was arrested Oct. 13 in a Midtown parking lot as he allegedly tried to illegally buy three machine guns and two silencers. Among the strict bond conditions that U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman set, Harris can continue to live with his girlfriend and his children. However, visitors are limited to three at a time between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., and have to be cleared with a criminal background check. Harris’ movements are monitored by a GPS system. And at least one guard lives on his propert...

Get Ready For Turkey Day!
2006-12-06 08:00:02
This week is going to be dull. Personally, I am already thinking about the gorgeous turkey that I will be devouring on Thanksgiving. With hardly any economic reports due out this week and the fact that Thanksgiving is on Thursday, I don't expect too many things to happen in the Forex world. Last year I ended up losing 3 straight trades on the 3 days right before Thanksgiving so I will only be taking a trade if I see a really good setup.

Turkey Day
2006-12-02 15:34:03
Well, I just got back from my first vacation from work and school in over 8 months...it was GREAT! The turkey tasted good, but the deer hunt was less than successful. I shouldn't say that-we ended up with 6 deer out of our 5 guy camp. Only two bucks (both small). Everyone made it home safe and sound, though.

Happy Turkey Day!
2006-11-25 04:00:05
Greetings from Norman, Okie-homa! Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, with hopes that each and everyone has something to be thankful about. I have spent this morning with my family, holding my nephew’s hand as I hugged him close to me as we watched the Macy’s Parade. I am thankful for so much, but above everything, I am thankful for the wonderful family and friends who share my life. Now get! Go eat some turkey, or pecan pie, or too much dressing… and have a glass of wine for me, I could not find any anywhere in this damn town!
