Turkey benefits from 'low prices and accessibility'
2008-06-09 02:00:00
Those looking for an investment property in the sun may wish to consider houses or apartments in Turkey. The country offers apartments in holiday resorts from as little as £19,000 and with plenty of budget flights available, purchasing a property in Turkey may be a wise investment, according to the Sunday Mail. Turkey currently has extremely competitive property prices, particularly in relation to its Mediterranean rivals, such as holiday favourites Spain and Portugal. Stuart Malloy, who recently bought an apartment in Didim, said: "I'd been looking to buy abroad for years but the cost of property in the Mediterranean and the Canaries really put me off. In addition to the holiday essentials such as sun, sand and pools, Turkey has a wealth of alternative activities, including historical and cultural attractions. With government plans to invest 200 million lira (£81 million) to increase tourist numbers two-fold in the next 15 years, purchasing rental property n...

Portugal 2-0 Turkey
2008-06-08 08:46:00
Portugal entered the tournament seeking to continue their upwards trajectory in European finals: quarter-finals in 1996, semi-finals in 2000 and runners-up in 2004. And they made the early running here, with Bosingwa hitting the outside of the post with a low cross inside two minutes. After 42 goals this season for Manchester United FC, Cristiano Ronaldo, understandably, found himself crowded by white shirts in the initial stages but his threat was evident from the game's first corner, delivered by Simão. Ronaldo appeared poised to strike only for Servet Çetin to produce a timely block. Portugal did get the ball in the net from another Simão corner in the 17th minute but Pepe's header was ruled out for offside. With João Moutinho also going close, it was no surprise Turkey coach Fatih Terim sought to tighten up his midfield for the second half, sending on Sabri ?ar?o?lu. Yet Turkey were soon on the back foot once more. Simão dispossessed the dawdling Gökhan Zan and Nuno Gomes nippe...

EURO 2008: Portugal vs Turkey
2008-06-04 14:15:00
Portugal look like heavy favorites to grab all the points here holding the best cards but, if i can use this comparison with poker, show down time is still to come with all the cruelty of the random flop. They have probably the best player in the world at the moment, experienced coach and plenty of talented young players ready to fight for a piece of European glory. Portugal have all to prove after losing the last European final at home against the defending champion Greece. But the point is that you never know what to expect from the exotic team of Turkey - they are always somewhere between the shocking 3rd world place and awkward performances against football dwarfs. Are they going to produce something extraordinary again? Nobody can tell now but Turkey have the Emperor as coach and a skillful squad of mixed talents and experienced players such as Emre, Altintop, etc. who can explode any minute on the pitch. It seems the team is back on track after beating Finland 2:0 in the last fr...

Brie & Chutney Turkey Burgers
2008-05-28 02:39:00
One of the great things I see in the food blogging community is that there are so many wonderful places you can take your blog. For many it's more than just a hobby, and they've gained so much exposure and success that they can do wonderful things through their blog. One such blogger is Blake Killian of BlakeMakes. When visiting his blog, you never know what you'll find - a delicious meal prepared by Blake or his wife, perhaps a guest blogger sharing a delicious creation, or even a contest to receive a free, fun, new food product. Free food? Through a blog? That's right. When I read about Blake's giveaway for McQuade's Celtic Chutney, a sweet and spicy ginger and fig concoction, I jumped right in on the contest by submitting my ideas for dishes I dreamed of making with the chutney. Luckily, Blake liked them and I was chosen as a chutney recipient!Looking at the many flavors of chutney available through McQuade's website, I found that many of the varieties combine fruit and sp...

Portugal V Turkey - Saturday 7th June - 7:45pm
2008-05-25 22:37:00
Portugal may have had a dodgy start to the Euro 2008 qualifying rounds but they came good at the end with the boy Ronaldo. During the last two years they've made slight improvments in the FIFA world rankings but it was the move from 22nd to 8th that made the world sit up and notice. Turkey are ranked 25th and did make good progress up until 2004 where they have slid from 7th. Portugal may have only finished second in their group, but they know they've got the firepower to beat Turkey without really breaking into too much of a sweat. This should be a confortable game but I feel Turkey will get a late goal after Portugal going two-nill up.Austria 2008.co.uk prediction - 2:1

Turkish Ambassador to U.S. Calls Iran "a threat to Turkey as well as to the
2008-05-20 00:09:00
Doug Farah and I talked about his post on Hezbollah and clarified that Hezbollah might be the premier non-state terrorist threat. After all, Hezbollah's support and the extent of its direction from the current Iranian regime is massive. Two years ago, I wrote here about my discussions with a senior Western intelligence service official, who estimated Iran's direct financial support to Hezbollah at $100 million, and that was when oil was less than half of the current price. I assume that amount has...(read more)
