Tweaking the Crude Range
2008-06-01 17:11:00
Our April 14th call for an upper range of $130 for WTI light sweet crude is being adjusted upward to $140/bbl for the same reasons we've outlined before: strong world demand and that the days of easy access to sweet crude are in the rear view mirror. As one example, last week it was reported that output from Mexico's Cantarell oil field plummeted to just over 1 mln barrels per day. True, the Mexicans could tap copious deep sea patches in the Gulf, but constitutional barriers bar the deep pocketed foreign partners from getting involved. Internal political dis-unity has prevented a constitutional change from taking place. So they've blown it to the point where there won't be any deep sea production from Mexico for 20 years. James Polk and Sam Houston are laughing in their graves.

Tweaking My Side-bar
2008-04-14 22:18:00
As some of you know I've been trying to clean up my side-bar so my blog will load quicker. I keep deleting stuff and the last group to exit my side-bar is my buddies list, link exchange and all my labels. Now I didn't get rid of them, I just moved them to a post so they aren't part of loading the blog anymore. Let me know how I did here. Is my page loading faster? Sorry about loading your reader with all these extra posts, but it's the only way I figured I could pull this off. Have a great day.

Giants | Zito tweaking delivery
2008-03-11 21:20:00
The Associated Press reports San Francisco Giants SP Barry Zito is working on adjusting his delivery this offseason. "It was eliminating the hands going over the head in the windup," Zito said. "I'm trying to have a little more continuity, and less movement. It just feels more comfortable. There's less moving parts, and any time there's less moving parts, there's less things you have to worry about controlling. Really it's just to get the timing of the arm and get that hand break working."

Free up RAM by Disabling Useless Windows Services
2008-01-28 09:31:00
All windows services under Windows Os run for a specific purpose and are essential. But these services don?t run free of cost. Any service that runs on your computer requires space in memory and some processor time. By default there are some services that run and not required by all users. This is not a good idea having these turned on if you are not using them and especially if you are low at RAM (say 256 or even less). So it?s better to turn off them. Disabling the useless services will free up some amount of RAM for other applications and for security purpose also. Here I have compiled a list of services that can be disabled without affecting your normal working. Please note that these simple tweaks are most suitable for home users. (If you are using your system at office and have all those server and intranet setup, please stop here.) Let?s go to services panel, go to Start -> Run -> and type "services.msc" and hit Enter. Computer Browser What it does: Maint...

Google to Consider Tweaking Reader's Sharing Feature
2007-12-28 07:33:00
Google Inc. yesterday said it would consider tweaking a new sharing feature of its Reader service, the only concession thus far to a users' revolt that's been building on blogs and message forums for nearly two weeks. On Dec. 14, Google announced that Reader, its RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed service, would link with contacts from Google Talk, the company's instant messenger, and Gmail, its Web-based e-mail service. Any feed tagged to "Share" in Reader would be visible to any Talk or Gmail contact. The news brought immediate reaction from some. Danny Sullivan, search analyst and the editor-in-chief of SearchEngineLand.com, for example, said he liked the feature in general, but wasn't happy with how Google implemented it.Read more at CW
Google tweaking its Reader service regarding Privacy concerns
2007-12-27 23:17:00
Amidst a user backlash regarding changes to its Reader application, Google on Wednesday made slight adjustments to the service to enable more control over sharing capabilities. If you're not familiar about this issue, here's a short background: On December 14, Google announced that Reader, its RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed service, would link with contacts from GoogleTalk, the company's instant messenger, and Gmail, its web-based email service. Any feed tagged to "Share" in Reader would be visible to any Talk or Gmail contact. This resulted to immediate reactions from some users. Others were much harsher in their criticism, including many of those who have posted hundreds of messages to a thread on a Google Reader forum. There's even an instance of a user's holiday being ruined because of this.If you check out Google's official Reader blog, changes were already made on their sharing feature. You can now set "tags" to private or public. Each tag you share will get its ow...

Some Tweaking of the Blog
2007-12-20 07:57:00
There have been a couple of minor changes made to our humble abode over the last couple of days. I’m always toying around with this thing trying to make it better. I came across a combination of plugins that do a pretty neat thing. When people use search engines and find the blog, often they don’t land on exactly what they are looking for. A good example of this would be a Google search for “Phoenix real estate stats”. This search currently returns an entry in the number 7 position of page 1. Not a bad result, but the problem is, if the search result is clicked on, the searcher is sent to the blog home page, which may or may not have a post currently displayed that pertains to Phoenix real estate stats.  Mr. Visitor likely quickly scans the page, and if they don’t see what they are looking for they are apt to leave — maybe to never return, which makes me sad. Enter The Landing Sites plugin. This slick little gizmo will display a list of posts...

Maybe Google News Needs A Little Tweaking
2007-07-21 08:05:00
An interesting story came across my desk today - A “news” site called Axcess News reported that President Bush was undergoing a colonoscopy, leaving Vice President Cheney in charge of the United States for the duration of the procedure. The article, which was the top story on Google news briefly yesterday, had the unfortunate title “Bush butt probed, Cheney in charge” and began with “A shudder could be felt across Capitol Hill Friday after news came out that President Bush would be having his butt checked out…” A quick search of Google News shows the story is still indexed. Perhaps Google will now be rethinking whether Axcess News should remain in the Google News index? Axcess News, by the way, is a member of the esteemed Online News Association, which purports to be a serious group of online news sites. The president of the ONA is Kinsey Wilson, the Executive Editor of USAToday.com. Crunch Network: CrunchGear drool over the sexiest new ga...

Tweaking the CSS Code
2007-07-05 16:17:00
(This is a sub-post for Step 5 from Tutorial 11: Starting Your Own Blogger Template)This is the crucial part of designing - setting how your blog looks like. By this time the widths of all the containers inside the CSS code should have been set. What you need to know about tweaking the CSS code is that it's a recursive process - it's a process of refining that always repeats back and forth until you're 'happy' with the end result. There are so many things to tweak and so many containers to customize. So how do you do this and where do you start? The easiest approach is to start from the top. Assuming that you're starting from an existing template, at this point you don't have to worry much about customizing the body, outer-wrapper, and content-wrapper, except the width. You can tweak these containers later (or let the existing code as default, unless you want to tweak them later). If you want to use an image as a background image of the whole template, you can also do this lat...

Google keeps tweaking its search engine
2007-06-04 09:01:00
By Saul HansellMOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--These days, Google seems to be doing everything, everywhere. It takes pictures of your house from outer space, copies rare Sanskrit books in India, charms its way onto Madison Avenue, picks fights with Hollywood and tries to undercut Microsoft's software dominance. But at its core, Google remains a search engine. And its search pages, blue hyperlinks set against a bland, white background, have made it the most visited, most profitable and arguably the most powerful company on the Internet. Google is the homework helper, navigator and yellow pages for half a billion users, able to find the most improbable needles in the world's largest haystack of information in just the blink of an eye....
