iMac Aluminum unboxing
2007-09-02 00:00:00 It final got here Friday afternoon. About a week after apple announced I put in an order for a new aluminum iMac. I spent Friday evening unboxing and setting it up. I must say this is a great machine. I final got everything installed and have been using it a couple of days.The 24inch screen is massive, the keyboard is thin but very easy to use the best keyboard I have ever used. I am a pretty computer savvy person, but this computer was so easy to setup. Of course, I formatted it first thing installing os X and Vista Ultimate (thanks Steven) using bootcamp. I installed 4 gigs of ram and must say this machine screams.Specs:24inch iMac2.8 Core 2 Duo Extreme4 GB ram750 GB Hard DriveI will run some speed test with Photoshop, After Effects, Final cut Studio in the coming days. I will keep you posted.

I have to confess that the "open faced" DS looks a little plain. Sleek, but plain. Crimson-colored buttons (or a d-pad!) would've been a great touch, but it's still easy on the eyes.

Apple 4G iMac: first unboxing, impressions
2007-08-08 21:54:00 Filed under: Desktops, Features, Peripherals Our spankin' new fully-loaded 24-inch fourth gen iMac just arrived via FedEx, so for those that can't get enough of the most aluminum and glass clad Apple PC to date, we've got a ton of pics for you to pore over. Some first impressions on the device: The friendly, white packaging betrays the slick sense of style of the machine inside. (MacBook Pros and Mac Pros have much more appealing matte black boxes.) Its 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo and full-size drive is way snappy -- the machine boots from cold to desktop in 26 seconds (granted, it's a clean install without any third party software installed). Upon closer inspection we weren't too stoked about the screen. The colors are rich, but compared to our Dell 24-incher (at 400 cd/m2, 1000:1 contrast ratio), the still iMac was dissatisfying. In the other hand, judging from this unboxing extravaganza, was a digital camera at the ready. The model is a 20 inch, 2.4ghz iMac; the second lowest on the BTO totem pole. As you can tell from the picture above, glossy means GLOSSY. Included is a wired keyboard, which sports a number pad (the wireless does not).
