Need to find Court Records? Then you can do one of two things:travel all over the state or country, finding the courthouse, then going to the clerk's office, then waiting in line behind the people that are there filing small claims lawsuits and paying traffic tickets, then fill out a public records request, then get told that the records are across town, then go there and wait in line behind the guy who wants to find out if it's true that Bill Clinton really was part of a global conspiracy to have his dog put to sleep, then finally get led down to a dank basement where you'll be given a rickety card table and a moldy set of files to page through...... or, go to Localcourtrecords.org, where you type in some basic information about the person you want records on, and get basic information back, instantly -- and free! No nuts, traffic tickets, or dank. Just ease of searching and speed. For a little extra fee, you can get even more information. So unless you really want to talk to...

Bob Barr Says U.S. Must Cut United Nations Role and Budget
2008-06-26 19:19:00
Bob Barr Says U.S. Must Cut United Nations Role and BudgetOn this day in 1945 the U.S. and other countries signed the United Nations Charter.  Unfortunately, “the UN has been an enormous disappointment,” says Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr.   â€śThe U.S. should push to roll back the UN’s functions and slash America ’s financial contribution.”Expectations for the UN initially were high:  before the signing, President Harry S. Truman said “At no time in history has there been a more important Conference than this one.”  Obviously, “President Truman had no sense of history,” notes Barr.  â€ś America ’s constitutional convention always had a much better claim to that honor.”Nor was President Truman much of a prophet.  â€śThe United Nations has turned out far different than expected,” says Barr.  The budget is bloated. “The UN has become a huge, bloated and costly bureaucracy, constantly seeking ways to ...

INTA Recap: Our Own United Nations
2008-05-29 03:42:00
Meet the Bloggers IV: Trademark law bloggers of the world unite! It’s hard to recap a four-day conference involving thousands of trademark lawyers from around the world. Despite my nagging jet lag, I’m still energized. For me, this year’s INTA transcended the usual meeting and greeting. Maybe it’s because I’ve gone to a few of these now and the folks I met for the first time three years ago in San Diego are now becoming good friends. But I started thinking that INTA’s annual meeting could be something of an agent of peace. Take the Meet the Bloggers event (photo above), for example. That night, I met folks kind of like me from England, Italy, Spain, South Africa, the United States, and many points in between. Our own United Nations. The night ended, quite late, over burgers and beer with old and new friends from the States, Holland, and Australia. I thought: this is what it’s all about. Sure, INTA is about m...

Thailand is the "Wolrd Center of Buddhism"
2008-05-28 06:44:00
The Buddhist Channel reports that the "[United Nation] declares Thailand as 'world centre of Buddhism'". This is a truly great honor for Thailand; but with it comes responsibility. The people of Thailand embrace their religious history fully. However, our globalizing world places the future of Buddhism into a realm of uncertainty. How will Buddhism evolve as it continues to spread in the West? Is Buddhism more of a philosophy or a religion; and what are the implications? What does it mean for a nation to be considered a Buddhist nation? And, perhaps most importantly, how can/should "the world center of Buddhism" help to promote the real and original teachings of the Buddha to the rest of the world? These are important questions for all people to think about when addressing their own spiritual paths. I look forward to visiting Thailand again in the future, and hope that the vibrant Buddhist culture that I was able to experience will never fade.

Letter to President of the United Nations
2008-05-27 06:05:00
Dear President Srgjan Hasan Kerim of the United NationsSir, through you and the United Nations, countries and states have established universal objectives which represent the common good of the human family. My familyand yours.Part of your founding principles is the "the quest for justice, dignity and human rights." There is another principle of "responsibility to protect" that should be the foundation of all actions taken by those in government.Sir, serious violations of those principles are seen in various parts of the globe. But here in my home country, the United States, there is an unseen violation of human rights that, until recently, has been kept hidden. Violations that target the most unsung group in our entire civilization - the elderly - our mothers and fathers!Mr. President, in America, the terms "guardianship," "conservatorship" refer to a court system that was designed to protect vulnerable elderly as they struggle with mental or physical decline. But what the system d...

Cyclone Nargis--a "Grotesque" Disaster
2008-05-20 16:32:00
Yesterday, I wrote about Cyclone Nargis (Blog Post: Cyclone Nargis--Natural & Political Disaster), and ended my post will little resolved in my mind. This article from The Washington Post summons up my feelings on the recent natural disaster (turned political disaster) in Burma."THE STORY of Cyclone Nargis, which devastated much of Burma more than two weeks ago, long ago moved from the tragic to the criminal. It is now becominggrotesque."Diplomats from the United Nations and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have announced they will hold a 'donor conference' in Burma's capital on Sunday. This will allow foreign ministers from around the world to preen and promise millions in loans and grants for 'reconstruction' that, if delivered, will enrich and empower the corrupt rulers of that unhappy nation. Meanwhile -- thanks to those same rulers--as many as 3 million people affected by the cyclone will still be suffering, and in many cases dying, because the regime refuses...
U.N. to Decide If America is Racist

Barack Obama will be the Democrat Party’s candidate for President of the United States of America. He will be the first American of African descent to earn the party’s nomination. In a time where he can achieve what no minority in the history of the country has ever done, win the seat of the most powerful person in the world, what is missing? A United Nations investigation into the role racism played in the election. As an African American politician is set to assume for the first time in the country?s history the leadership of a major political party, a Geneva-based United Nations human rights investigator plans to come here next week to investigate whether racism plays a role in the presidential campaign, according to a statement released yesterday. The special rapporteur on ?contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance,? Doudou Dične of Senegal, will arrive in America Monday for a two-week tour that will take him to Washi...

According to USA Today, Surplus U.S. food supplies dry up"Worldwide, food prices have risen 45% in the past nine months, posing a crisis for millions, says the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization.Because of the current economics of food, and changes in federal farm subsidy programs designed to make farmers rely more on the markets, large U.S. reserves may be gone for a long time. Maurice Strong and the Collapse of Industrialized Civilizations
2008-05-01 06:42:00
In 1990, a small, round faced Canadian described a scenario to a reporter. He envisioned a small group of world leaders concluding that the rich countries were the “principle risk to the Earth.” This group then created a plan to get the rich countries to “sign an agreement reducing their impact on the environment.” When the rich countries refused, the group decided “the only hope for the planet” was for the industrialized civilizations to collapse. He pondered, “Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?” Two years later, he helped lay the foundation for the Kyoto Protocol at the Earth Summit in Rio De Janeiro. His name is Maurice Strong, and he would love to see America collapse. Who is Maurice Strong? Billionaire Canadian Maurice Strong is a man of profound influence. He’s been called the “Michelangelo of networking,” “an international traveling salesman with buts [sic] of paper in his pocket...
