“McCain For President” Adviser: America Is “a nation of whiners” Who Are Mired In An Economic “mental recession” Of course, the blogosphere is going off today on former U.S. Senator Phil Gramm’s offensive comments, as the ONLY United States Senator in history who was born in the nation of Panama only to eventually settle in the Great State of Arizona’s campaign adviser opened his mouth and inserted his foot by offending, well; pretty much everybody aside from the “McCainiacs” who are, of course, few and far between. To paraphrase the millionaire’s comments and apparent attitude toward his fellow Americans: “Whahhh… sniff, sniff, SNIFF. The sky is falling. Boo-hoo and oh-woah-is-me.” And Senator Obama’s reaction? Frankly, very few would disagree: “… “He said we’re in a mental recession, I guess what he meant was it’s a figment of our imagination, these high g...
American Muslims Name School after Islamic Conqueror of Spain
2008-06-23 20:59:00
About a month ago or so, a scandal broke out into the media sphere and the blogosphere in the USA about a Muslim charter school in Minnesota. The school was controlled by Muslim private persons, yet it received substantial public funding. The scandal arose from violations by the school of the conditions of its receiving public funding. The scandal intensified when non-Muslim journalists were attacked on school premises when trying to investigate the charges. This school was/is called the Tariq ibn Ziyad Academy. The major question that has not been asked by most media --MSM or blogs-- reporting on this affair is just who is this Tariq fellow. The answer to that question would tell us with whom these American Muslims identify. Here are accounts of Tariq by respected historians Bernard Lewis & Carl Brockelmann:It was in Spain that the Arabs achieved their greatest and most enduring conquest in Europe. . . Tariq, a Berber freedman [that is, a former slave] of Musa ibn Nusair, the Ar...

Can a radical become President of the United States?
2008-06-06 18:47:00
Glen Ford of Black Agenda Report has written a post entitled "Obama Resigns from Black Nation," taking the Democratic presidential nominee to task for resigning from Trinity United Church of Christ. Ford sees the decision as part of a pattern and proof that: "Barack Obama is true-blue to the slave holding forefathers and heroic blond mothers of the storybook U.S. of A. His intense (white) nationalist fealty to the Indian-killer and slave-whipper compels him to reject out of hand the African American version of U.S. and world history - to compulsively dismiss both the Black counter-narrative and narrators, like Rev. Wright." Ford goes on to say:By all rights, Obama ought to just keep on steppin' out of Black America entirely, since his real problem lies with the two-edged sword of Black nationalism. The great irony of the Obama phenomenon is, his fundamental strength in the Democratic primaries - near-universal Black support - is based on an ideology that is a nightmare to white vot...

Immortal Technique is playing at the Coronet in London tonight and I'm going. He often raps about conspiracy theories, although he doesn't like that term as he explains on The Cause Of Death. But almost every line here outlines a new conspiracy theory or alarming fact. It's powerful in its relentlessness, and listening to it reminds me of watching the conspiracy theory film Zeitgeist. Alarming, thought-provoking, extremely misguided in places, but you have to admire the passion, anger and desire to educate the listener - all of which are conspicuously absent from so much of today's hip hop music.Immortal Technique - The Cause Of Death (iTunes)

Free Palestine: INTIFADA! ???????
2008-06-01 16:50:00

My tribute to warriors on Memorial Day
2008-05-26 18:16:00
War has to be the strangest human institution.  It brings out the the most brutal territorial animal and tribal human in us.  It also showcases extremes of selflessness, courage, and even compassion.  Today, in the United States, we celebrate our warriors in a manner that, all too often, centers on the “glory” of death in battle.  I’d like to extend this tribute to our living warriors — the ones who came home — and the battles they never left. I think this clip from a longer film demonstrates what war is in the most eloquent manner I’ve ever seen; and it’s done without words.  It’s about 10 minutes long, but worth viewing for many of us.  If you don’t want to watch that long, scrub ahead to around 6:08, and if you’re really pressed for time, go to 7:22, but I warn you; the impact will be greater if you don’t scrub ahead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8Ljk4AC24R4
