Upton was benched for the second time in less than two weeks for failing to run hard on a double-play grounder in the sixth inning of Friday night’s 7-0 victory over the Rangers. BY ADAM RONIS B.J. Upton left today's game against the Orioles with a left shoulder strain he hurt while swining the bat. Upton has a history of shoulder problems. This probably has to do more with one of my team's being cursed with injuries. Upton is on my team along with A-Rod, Ty Wiggington, Hank Blalock and Jonathan Broxton. Who's next?

The Tampa Bay Rays haven't had time for the ational media to bask in their glorious April, and star centerfielder B.J. Upton is removed mid-at-bat after foluing a ball off his foot.  I mention the foot because that is what appeared to happen. However, replays show him clutching his left wrist after the swing.  It is the possibility of a wrist injury that prompts me to this over-reacting post.  I haven't had visions in my head like this since I started cheeking my meds.  Power-sapping, season-ending hamate bone surgery is all I can see right now. As more information comes available, I will update this post. Update [2008-5-1 14:10:18 by Eric Hz]: The St. Pete Times reports Upton looks like he hurt his shoulder. BY ADAM RONIS Micah Owings left the game against the Padres with a right ankle injury in the top of the sixth inning and Justin Upton left the game in the bottom of the seventh with leg cramps. Owings allowed five hits, five runs, three walks and struck out five in his worst outing of the season. He came in 4-0. His ERA increased to 3.48 ERA.
