Justin Timberlake & Tony Romo At US Open Golf Challenge
2008-06-07 16:26:00
Justin Timberlake and Tony Romo joined Matt Lauer and John Atkinson, a regular guy from Omaha, Neb on the Torrey Pines’ course yesterday disproving Tiger Woodds’ theory that it takes a pro to beat the course. Romo barely broke a sweat playing the first nine holes in 5-over 40 but slowed as the six-hour round wore on. “It got really tough to stay sharp,” he said, nodding toward the 18th hole, where he had his only double bogey after hitting into a bunker. Timberlake’s swing started to go south at the seventh hole when he blew on the ball as it rimmed the hole without any luck and asking the crowd to approve his drop into the rough at the edge of the fairway. He parred the 18th to finish at 27-over 98. Lauer scraped by with a 100 on the par-71 course despite playing with a 6.2 handicap index. He came back from an early quad and a series of double bogeys to make a par 5 on the final hole. The only one who didn’t mind his score was Atkinson who wa...

Lexus LS 460 Commercial: The Life of a US Open Tennis Ball
2008-04-09 03:23:00
I remember hearing about it last year, but this is the first time I’ve seen this Lexus commercial detailing the life of a US Open tennis ball after its day in the spotlight: Quirky and cute, it’s a neat take on the standard sponsorship advertisement, and makes you think, what really does happen to all those tennis balls?
Lower Air Fares with the Australia/US open-skies agreement?
2008-04-01 17:04:00
Australia and the USA have signed an open-skies agreement, eliminating air travel limits between the two countries. The accord will now allow more US and Australian based carriers to fly on this route, increasing competition and hopefully lead to lower fares.  This agreement breaks the long-standing monopoly of the direct route enjoyed by US carrier United Airlines and Australia's Qantas. Officials who signed the agreement said, "Eliminating restrictions on US-Australia air services means lower fares, more convenient service and more opportunity for travellers, commerce and carriers to thrive," Currently an adult fare from Sydney to Los Angeles direct costs between $A2100 and $A2300. United Airlines is generally 3-8% cheaper than Qantas, but it is one of the worst airlines (in my opinion anyway) due to the lack of passenger amenities, onboard service and older planes. Qantas, relatively speaking, is the better airline. But if you are not flying from/to either N...

Cambo Hasn't Done Alot Since US Open Win
2008-01-24 01:59:00
Michael Campbell play has certainly been poor since his U.S. Open win back in 2005. He's dropped to #188 in the world rankings but is excited about starting his 15th year on the European Tour this week at the Qatar Masters in Doha, his first competition since missing the cut in last month's Australian Open."I've had a good break and now having wiped the 2007 slate clean, I'm anxious to get back into competition and get my 2008 campaign off to a positive start," he said."I decided to work pretty hard on my fitness during the Christmas and New Year break so as to better prepare myself for this year."Campbell had been working with a new personal trainer for the past two months."I do feel a lot leaner and fitter, and I've also lost a bit of weight so that's why I'm excited about these two weeks.""It's been very simple and nothing too technical. I remember adopting a similar sort of approach to my golf four years ago and it was that sort of attitude that helped me win the Europ...

Autism Symposiums In The US (Open, Democratic) vs Canada (Closed, Undemocra
2007-09-29 12:11:00
In the United States there are currently several autism symposiums scheduled or underway. It is interesting to note that public participation is encouraged at these American events. In some cases American law requires public input. They do not appear to dictate who can and can not attend. Nor do they attempt to pass off government selected delegates as representatives of community organizations as is currently occurring in Canada with the CIHR Autism Symposium. Here in Canada, the CIHR has bypassed community organizations like the Autism Society New Brunswick and decided for itself who will represent community organizations at this event.A little tip for the esteemed scientists at the CIHR from a humble small town lawyer, father of a profoundly autistic boy and long time autism advocate. In democratic societies organizations select their own representatives. Government bureaucrats, even those with Ph. D.'s, their Public Relations advisers, and their Political superiors, do not ...

I know the US Open ended last week or was it the week before?? But as i was so busy doing my VMA's cover that i let the finals go by without a single word.I bet you are all expecting me to say the best player was Roger Federer (Helloo BOOOring!) cause he won is 4th time in a row and he is the number 1 player in ATP ranking but you are completely wrong!!!!For me the best player was without a doubt Novak Djokovic, he is young, he plays amazing tennis, he is sooo cute and i think he is still single!!! (Novak honey next time you come to Portugal drop me an email and i'll take you to a SL Benfica match ;) !!) Novak is that player that loves to take his shirt off at the end of matches and makes impressions of his own colleagues and their manners on court!! Watch Novak funny impression of Sharapova and Nadal.... priceless... love it!!!Read More: US Open Fashion Face-Off
US Open lessons: Inconsistant thoughts.
2007-09-13 14:57:00
The US Open is over again for another year, Roger wins it... again, and I'm down a bit for the tournament, but up mentally after a good 2nd week.  The frustrations of trading and gambling never cease to amaze.  You can learn everything there is to know about a market and the sport, but if susceptible, the same mental errors will jump up and take you by surprise.  Mental consistency.  This must surely be the holy grail of trading, that elusive thing that can turn an up and down (but mostly down) loser into a less variable - winner. I've spent long days and months learning a lot this year.  Technically I'm as good as I've ever been, and I'm confident I have some sort of explanation for almost anything going on in a tennis market.  I know my strategy almost inside out, and I know when to execute.  But none of this matters, if I'm not thinking consistently and in week one of the US Open, I paid for it! Had someone been watching my trading dur...

2007 US Open: Federer ties Roy Emerson.
2007-09-10 13:37:00
The 2007 US Open tournament ended yesterday with the mens singles final match between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.A great match where the young 20-year old Djokovic, participating to his very first Grand Slam final, has wasted nothing less than 7 set points during the first two sets.Federer closed the deal during the first two sets tiebreakers after Djokovic let slip too many set points. Roger has won the match in three sets of 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-2) and 6-4. He wins a 12th Grand Slam title in career, tying the great Roy Emerson in second place of all-time, only 2 away from Pete Sampras' record of 14 slams. This 2007 summer was a breakout season for Djokovic, he pulled himself all the way up to the 3rd rank of the ATP tour, has won the Masters tournament of Montreal and appeared in his first Grand Slam final. A great summer all in all.Federer in his post-match comments said that he expects many more hard fought battles with Novak in the coming years...a sweet compliment towards h...

How do you solve a problem like Maria? - Tennis- US Open
2007-09-07 03:28:00
Tennis- US OpenHow do you solve a problem like Maria? - FridayMaria wore a fancy outfit at the US Open but nevertheless she was defeatedThis is the title for a famous song; from an even more famous movie back in the mid 1960’s, the ‘Sound of Music’.But now I am incorporating this in the title for yet another Maria, not Maria von Trapp of course but Maria Sharapova, easily the best looking female tennis player on the circuit today.Sharapova it would seem flatters only to fail. The Wimbledon champion of 2004 is one of the injury prone players on the circuit and has disappointed her fans on many occasions. She has been unceremoniously bundled out of the US Open by the junior champ at Wimbledon. Flushing Meadows is where all the action is. Maria has certainly been flushed out! Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland pulled off the stunning upset, beating the defending US Open champion 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 in a third-round match that took a startling turn last Saturday. Sharapova seemed to take cont...
US Open Questions
2007-09-06 13:46:00
Why did last night?s match between Roger Federer and Andy Roddick start after 10:00 pm? It was almost 11:00 when Federer won the first set tie-break, which was also the same time I turned off the television to go to sleep.Federer is, obviously, the #1 seed at the US Open; Roddick was the #5 seed. So why were they meeting in the quarterfinals? Shouldn?t the #1 seed face the #8 seed in the quarters with the #4 seed playing the #5 seed assuming that the top seeds advance? #1 should not face #5 until the semifinals. Finally, will the US Open ever change its format so that the final set doesn?t end in a tie-breaker? This is one of my pet peeves in sports along with a shoot-out to end World Cup soccer matches. If it?s tied 6-6 in the third set in a women?s match or fifth set in a men?s match, they should keep going until someone wins by two games. If someone wins the final set 20-18, that just makes for exciting tennis. Just the other day, Venus Williams defeated Jelena Jankovic 4-6...

Nadal crashes out of US Open
US Open: Exit Nadal.
2007-09-05 13:43:00
The second player in the world, Rafael Nadal didn't look at his best yesterday as he was defeated in four sets by David Ferrer (15). The final score: 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) and 6-2. A match that ended in the wee hours of the night. So Ferrer surprizingly qualifies himself for the quarterfinals with this upset victory. In another very disputed match yesterday, Novak Djokovic (3) also qualfied himself for the quarterfinals as he defeated Juan Monaco (23) by 7-5, 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (6-8) and 6-1.Other matches:(Mens singles)Carlos Moya (17) def. Ernests Gulis by 7-5, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7) and 6-4.Juan Ignacio Chela (20) def. Stanislas Wawrinka by 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6), 1-6 and 6-4.(Womens singles)Justine Henin (1) def. US open: Nadal out
2007-09-05 08:59:00
David Ferrer of Spain sent second seed Rafael Nadal tumbling out of the US Open in a fourth-round tie early Wednesday, ending his compatriot's hopes of a third straight Grand Slam final against Roger Federer. US Open: a Roddick-Federer encounter in quarters.

The quarterfinalists of the 2007 US Open are now known and an interesting clash is scheduled in one of the quarterfinals. Andy Roddick and Roger Federer will battle for a place in the semifinals.Yesterday, the most spectacular match was played by James Blake and Tommy Haas. A long five set battle that Haas managed to turn to his advantage after losing two sets to one. Haas qualified himself for the quarterfinals by 4-6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 and 7-6 (7-4). A spectacular match that lasted over 3 hours and that really pleased the crowd. The final set was intense, the playing quality was there and some shots were simply spectacular. Here are today's most interesting matchups:(Womens singles quarterfinals)Justine Henin (1) vs Serena Williams (8)(Mens singles 4th round)Rafael Nadal (2) vs David Ferrer (15)
