1 Down, 3 to Go! Utah Jazz Already on the Ropes, Lakers Win Game 1
2008-05-05 20:22:00 I'm sure there were a few Lakers fans out there that thought that Kobe Bryant and company had it a little too easy in the first round against the Denver Nuggets (me included) and maybe Utah Jazz would give the Lakers a harsh wake up call in game 1, but the Lakers proved that the first round sweep was no fluke and that they are the real deal! This game was just Kobe, Kobe, Kobe! This season's MVP dominated the Utah Jazz, scoring 38 points, 21 of which was from the free throw line. Not only did the Jazz have trouble stopping Kobe from scoring at will, but Kobe also found the open man when he wasn't scoring by dishing out 7 assists.Even though 6 of Utah's players scored in double figures, their superstars Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams had very forgettable performances. I think Williams is the key to this series, if the kid has a good game both scoring and distributing the basketball then the Lakers are in trouble, but the 3rd year man out of Illinois played one of his worst games...

NBA Playoff Betting Preview: Houston Rockets at Utah Jazz (Jazz lead 3-2)
2008-05-03 06:20:00 NBA Playoff Betting Preview Houston Rockets at Utah Jazz (Jazz lead 3-2) Friday, 10:35 pm Eastern – ESPN Current Line / Odds: Jazz - 7.5, Total 180 The Utah Jazz realize that they had better take care of business and close out the Houston Rockets on Friday or they will face a game 7 back in Houston on Sunday. The Jazz seemed to have the series totally in hand after winning the first two games in Houston but have now lost two of the past three games. "We have home-court advantage right now and we don't want to lose it. We need to treat it really like Game 7," Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko said. SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Jazz at Home. The Rockets routed the Jazz in Game five 95-69 and now it is Houston that has the confidence. "They're just playing better and better every game. That's where we've got to be concerned," Utah guard Deron Williams said. "After those first two losses, it seems like they're a different team - a more determi...
¿Qué deberían hacer en el Draft 2008? Utah Jazz

2008-04-25 07:42:00 Thursday, 10:35 pm Eastern – TNT Current Line / Odds: Jazz - 8.5, Total 182 A series that looked to be competitive could end very quickly if the Utah Jazz does as expected and win at home. The Jazz won both road games at Houston and now come home where they had the NBA’s best home record. "We go into the game knowing that both teams have seen a great deal of each other," Utah forward Carlos Boozer said. "Game 3 should be a dandy." Utah will try and avoid having a letdown on Thursday. "It's two different scenarios - night and day," Boozer said. "We're already intense. It's the playoffs." 2008-03-15 03:25:00 Deron Williams and the Utah Jazz were too much to handle tonight for the Boston Celtics as they lost 110-92 in front of a packed house at the TD BankNorth Garden on Friday night. The loss for the Green ended their 10-game winning streak. The Celtics lost Ray Allen at the end of the first quarter with a jammed ankle. He had 9 points when it was announced he would not return to the parquet floor. Williams, who’s turning into one of the best point guards in the NBA, paced the Jazz with 32 points and 8 assists. Carlos Boozer added a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Mehmet Okur added 12 points and 9 rebounds. Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver both chipped in with 10 points. Lakers Completely Dominate the Utah Jazz
2007-12-31 01:43:00 Wow!! The Lakers were playing like a championship caliber team absolutely destroying the Utah Jazz with a 30 lead throughout most of the game. Kobe Bryant and company were just firing on all cylinders with everyone contributing and playing solid defense. The most impressive part about the Lakers 123-109 rout of the Utah Jazz was their defense which shut down both of Utah's superstars Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams keeping them to 26 points combined on 9 of 24 shooting from the floor. All of the Lakers starters and even Jordan Farmar(14 points) in 25 minutes off the bench scored in double figures. Kobe lead the way as usual with 31 points followed by Lamar Odom with 17, Trevor Ariza with 12, Derek Fisher with 10 and Andrew Bynum finished with 10.It is becoming more and more obvious that the Los Angeles Lakers were a force to be rekond with, the biggest indication would be the fact that the Lakers are favored by 3 points against the 25-3 Boston Celtics in LA on Sunday, Dec. 30th.It i...

NBA Power Rankings
2007-12-11 07:10:00 Here's TSF's NBA Power Rankings as of 12/11. 1. San Antonio Spurs The Spurs have been impressive even without Tim Duncan. Manu Ginobli is looking to be the sixth man of the year as he scored 37 points twice in back to back wins over the Mavs and Jazz. The Spurs have been themselves lately, playing team basketball, winning, and holding opponents to 92.5 ppg, plus they're on a 5 game winning streak and have won 11 of their last 12.2. Boston CelticsThe Celtics have just about dominated in all of their games. It seems Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen are always on their games and even if one or two of them are off, they still have the 3rd. Also, I should mention those 3 are all in the top 35 for points in the league.3. Phoenix SunsThe Suns rank in the top 10 of the league in ppg (2), FG% (2), and spg (6). Steve Nash has been incredible once again with his 17.9 ppg and 12.3 apg. 4. Orlando Magic Dwight Howard has been a monster and good thing he's on my fantasy team; He's 1...

Mysteries Needing Answers
2007-10-11 17:57:00 Some questions have befuddled me lately in the world of sports. If you have answers to these, please, let me know.- A betting scandal in tennis? Who the hell bets on tennis?- When did Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas and Cincinnati become football schools?- At what point in time did Nebraska football stop being Nebraska football?- I don't dislike the guy, but is anyone else starting to be a wee bit annoyed by Tony Romo (or to put it better, the media's fascination with him)? Seriously, what has he done yet? - Evander Holyfield is still fighting? Why?- For that matter, why is Trent Green even considering playing football again?- If Colorado can sell out their playoff games, why can't Arizona?- Anyone else get the feeling Matt Leinart might become a bust sometime down the road?- The Knicks signed Allan Houston? Seriously?- How long until Jazz coach Jerry Sloan pummels Andrei Kirilenko?- When will this stupid post end? Oh, right now. Good.
The Utah Jazz Are Not Afraid of Bloggers
2007-10-10 06:23:00 The Utah Jazz are boldly going where no professional sports team has gone before. No longer will their official website be devoid of the rantings of die-hard fans. Starting this season utahjazz.com will feature a blog (called “Jazzbots”) written by a collection of Jazz fans. Featuring Jazz fans from all walks of life, and one self-professed non-Jazz fan, Jazzbots will aim to open the lines of communication visitors to the Jazz’s Web site. By giving visitors an opportunity to interact with other Jazz fans and enthusiasts, the Jazz hope that the added emphasis from a communications standpoint increases traffic not only to the Web site but also gains more than a few Jazz fans, in the process. The blog is definitely a smart, novel, and intriguing idea, and the Jazz deserve credit for embracing the blogosphere. If the blog is successful (and it probably will be because blogs are good), you can bet every other professional sports team will copy the Jazz. The Jazzbo...

Tim Donaghy's Point Shaving: Putting Things in Perspective [J. Mark English
2007-07-21 00:25:00 Tim Donaghy's name, if proven guilty, can share the same legendary status as the 1919 Black Sox, and Pete Rose. The Sox and Rose damaged the sport they played more then any drug user or thug could ever hope. When players, coaches, and referees bet on games they crush to pieces an unspoken covenant that is shared between fan and participant. This covenant represents a promise that what we see is real. Sports are not fiction, nor fantasy. Instead it is a tangible, and actual thing where then ending is unknown to both viewer and athlete right down to the final out, the final whistle, the final horn, until the fat lady sings. When Michael Jordan hit his famous last second shot against the Utah Jazz in the 98 NBA Finals, what we saw was real. Or so we were led to believe. Now, thanks to Tim Donaghy, doubt will creep in during every past or present moment in the NBA. Our hope is that the Jordan shot was not orchestrated by an NBA exec trying to conjure up the best ending for the bes...

San Antonio Spurs Silence Utah Jazz in Game 2
2007-05-23 00:00:00 The Spurs made sure on Tuesday that the road to the NBA Finals continued to go through San Antonio. After a convincing Game 1 win over Utah, the Spurs followed it up with a 105-96 Game 2 victory over the Jazz, as they maintained their home-court advantage with a 2-0 series lead. Tim Duncan had another magnificent performance as he tallied 26 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks. Carlos Boozer exploded for a game-high 33 points to go along with 15 rebounds, but was the only Utah player at the half in double figures. Deron Williams had another late-game surge as he scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half, bringing the Jazz within seven in the fourth quarter. Bruce Bowen drilled a series of treys in the fourth, scoring all nine of his points in the final period to silence Utah's rally. Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker each poured in 17 points. Late Night Reflection [David Stefanini]
2007-05-19 07:41:00 Today was a very busy day in the world of sports.First, we take a look at the Mets and Yanks. It was a well played game that was closely contested. Andy Pettitte pitched a great game once again for the Yanks, but once again they could not give him the run support he needed. Oliver Perez didn't need much run support, as he only threw one mistake. The Mets outplayed the Yanks in the game the Yanks desperately needed. With Boston being postponed, the Yanks are now 10 games back. It if the first time under Joe Torre they have ever been this far behind. As for the Mets they just keep on rolling. They're exciting and their pitching staff continues to come up big.Now lets move on to the world of basketball. The Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs advanced to their respected Conference Championship Rounds tonight. The Spurs man-handled an inferior Suns team, which furthers my point: The Phoenix Suns are very overrated and have been for a long time. When you can not play defense I do...
