2008-05-22 14:27:00 FTV Live: Rumors are floating around (DCRTV hears them as well) that NBC is looking to sell off WRC in Washington, DC and KNTV in San Francisco. Word for weeks is that NBC is looking to increase their cash flow and a number of station sales have been talked about. NBC is still looking at make some big layoffs in the near future. Sources tell FTVLive that the redesign of WNBC and their new 24 hour news operation could result in a 20% staff reduction at the station. Insiders tell FTVLive that other NBC stations will be in for layoffs as well.

FTV Live breaks the disturbing news that the Today show has hired obnoxious serial narcissist Kathie Lee Gifford:"Gifford will work on the 4th hour of Today," said our NBC source. Gifford rose to fame in 1988 when "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" went national. She spent years hosting the morning talk show and talking about her kids, Cody and Cassidy. Since Cody is now 18 years old, we're guessing we won't hear as much about him on Today (Thank God!). NBC sources tell FTVLive that Gifford will not replace anyone on Today but "will be an addition" to the program. NBC is expected to make an official announcement sometime in the next two weeks.
