New York mag 10/29-07 I fell into a burning ring of ire when my musician friends didn't believe me when I told them the above. I'd come across a similar assertion months ago while doing research on Johnny Cash after his Tennessee house mysteriously burned down. Bee Gees Barry Gibb had bought the home that Johnny and June Carter Cash had shared all their married life. The ghosts of Johnny and June obviously didn't want Barry barging in and renovating it.June Carter is credited with co-writing the 1963 "Ring Of Fire" lyric with Merle Kilgore. After the pair began their adulterous affair Johnny reportedly gave the impecunious June credit for song writing to throw a few bucks her way.
