Few people remember that the Soviet Union was also planning a multiple asteroid flyby mission in the 80's. After the successful cooperation between France and the Soviets on the VEGA Venus (and Halley comet flyby) mission in 1984-85, a new project was proposed. The Vesta mission would have consisted of two identical probes (just like earlier Soviet Venus missions), to be launched in 1991. Similar to the Vega mission, each spacecraft would deploy one or more landers or balloons into the Venusian atmosphere, and then proceed to its next target. At Venus, a French satellite dedicated to asteroid flybys would be released. It would return to us for an Earth swing-by, and then reach about 3-3.3 AUs from the Sun. I have argued before on this blog for the outright cancellation of the mission (and the firings and possible prosecution for fraud of the mission manangers, due to the enormous cost overruns and delays), but it is on it's way now. A launch in mid-June 2006 was cancelled when the program was told to stand down in November 2005 due to budget issues. The project was later resumed and rescheduled for launch aboard a Delta-II rocket. There was some damage to the vehicle during testing, but it was apparently not enough damage to delay the mission. 2007-02-11 10:16:02 Vindmølleproducenten Vestas opjusterede i dag sit forventede 2006-resultat på omsætning og driftsmargin. Den forventede driftsmargin for 2006-regnskabet er nu på cirka 5,2 pct. - fra 4,8 pct. udmeldt ved 3. kvartalsregnskabet - mens forventningen til årets omsætning er opjusteret med 150 mio. euro til 3.850 millioner euro. Opjusteringen er ikke stor, men har en beroligende effekt på investorerne og styrker tilliden til Vestas, da der længe har været usikkerhed om leverancerne fra underleverandørerne. Vestas: Repower-bud indvarsler flere opkøb i branchen
2007-01-23 09:52:02 Markedet for vindenergi har fremtiden for sig og er meget lovende. Der er stor sandsynlighed for, at der vil ske en række opkøb og konsolideringer i branchen de næste år. I dag kom så et overtagelsesbud på den tyske vindmølleproducent Repower, hvilket indvarsler flere bud og opkøb i branchen. Interessant er det, at det er det franske energiselskab Areva, der byder. I 2005 købte selskabet, der ellers beskæftiger sig med atomkraft, sig ind i Repower med 21,1 pct. af aktierne. Med budet i dag cementeres tendensen yderligere, at flere store og større energiselskaber er i gang med en strategisk omlægning af aktiviteterne mod grøn og vedvarende energi. Administrerende direktør, Michael Liebreich, for det London-baserede analysefirma New Energy Finance har tidligere spået om udviklingen indenfor vindmølle-branchen. Han mener, at fremtiden tilhører de multinationale selskaber - og at mellemstore selskaber som Vestas, Suzlon og Gamesa alle vil blive opkøbt på sigt. Det vil gå som i bilbranch... |
