2009-05-22 11:37:00 You Are Reading It Here First: India’s consumer electronic major Videocon which recently launched its own brand of multi brand retail chain called Digiworld has also launched an ecommerce site eDigiworld.com. The ecommerce site currently has consumer electronics, home appliances and kitchen appliances on sale. Besides for Videocon’s own brand the other brands available on the estore is Sansui, Electrolux, Kenstar, kelvinator and Akai. Videocon targets sales of Rs.8,000 crore in the current fiscal and to achieve this target they have launched ‘Digiworld’ and have opened 16 outlets in the country so far, number of which will be increased to 100 by October, 2010. The very fact that they have launched an online ecommerce site too means that they expect to do business online and increase online sales as well. According to the report, Videocon CEO Venugopal Dhoot said today that his company was already in initial stage talks with Motorola.Motorola's cell phone division maybe around US$3.8 billion.Videocon announced recently that they plan to launch their own telecom network in India, so getting even just a bit of Motorola will be a perfect mix. We don’t know for sure what will happen with the talks between Videocon and Moto, but we do hope that all ends well for both parties. And for us users, too, of course.
