Rescuers are rushing this morning to evacuate tens of thousands of people stranded by a flood that the President of Mexico has now called ?one of the worst natural disasters? ever to hit his coutnry. As of this moment, Mexicans are trapped on rooftops and hanging onto lampposts for their lives following horrible rains that flooded the southern state of Tabasco Thursday! Reports now put the number at 1/2 million that are now homeless, one dead, in the worse flooding in a 1/2 century to hit Mexico. President Felipe Calderon is trying to rescue his people as of this moment. “It is getting very serious,” Calderon said in a televised address. At 1/2 million, that number would represent 1/2 of the state’s people “in the water”, according to Tabasco Gov. Andres Granier. They now estimate 4/5 of the entire state is under water. Cerca de 500 personas provenientes de 190 instituciones educativas y de investigación asistieron a la reunión.
