Pitt Falls To Villanova
2009-03-30 16:16:00 I really want to be upset or disappointed about Pitt?s loss to Villanova in the Elite Eight on Saturday night, but I can?t. I guess you could say that if Pitt made one more free throw, allowed one less offensive rebound, or turned the ball over one less time, they would have won. Well sure, but to use an expression that I hate, it is what it is.* Pitt and Villanova are both great teams and played an amazing game. Villanova has as balanced a team there is in the country and deserves its spot in the Final Four. Plus, after seeing how poorly top teams Oklahoma and Louisville played on Sunday, I feel even better about Pitt?s performance. Levance Fields, Sam Young and DeJuan Blair all had terrific seasons, and the team as a whole deserves credit for accomplishments that no other Pitt team has achieved. Reynolds Wraps Up Victory For Villanova Over UCONN
2007-03-01 09:38:02 Scottie Reynolds scored a career high 40 points leading 3 Villanova players in double figures to a 78-74 victory over the UCONN Huskies at Gampel Pavilion on Tuesday night. 6th year senior Curtis Sumpter added 18 points and 10 rebounds while Mike Nardi chipped in 10 points. UCONN also had 3 players in double figures as well. Jerome Dyson and Jeff Adrien both had 20 points while Craig Austrie had 10 points. The game started out slowly for UCONN as they were 1 for 12 from the field to start the game but Villanova was only able to build a 4 point lead at 8-4. UCONN actually took the lead at 13-9 but Villanova regained the lead and never looked back. UCONN did kept it close but the Wildcats too a 6 point lead into the locker room at the half. UCONN started the second half slowly as well as they did get the lead to within 2 points but a 7-0 run by the Wildcats ended up getting the lead back up to 12. UCONN Women Spank Villanova
2007-02-24 21:28:01 Tina Charles led 5 Huskies in double figures as UCONN finished up it’s home schedule with a convincing 92-49 victory over the Villanova Wildcats. Charles had her 10th double-double of the season with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Mel Thomas added 16 points, Renee Montgomery had 13 points, Charde Houston had 12 points and Brittany Hunter scored 10 for the Huskies. Lisa Karcic and Stacie Witman led Villanova with 17 points each. The game was never in doubt for the Huskies as they scored early and often. UCONN finished up the first half on a 14-3 run to lead by 28 at the half, 45-17. The second half was much of the same as UCONN just totally dominated. Notes and Observations: The starters were Montgomery, Thomas, Greene, Charles and Houston. Houston was honored before the game for scoring 1,000 points in her UCONN career.
