Favre Gets Madden ?09 Cover
2008-04-26 08:20:00
This years Madden cover athlete does not have to worry about getting hit with the Madden curse. That is because it will be retired Packers’ QB Brett Favre. Favre finished his career on a high note having a very good season, and still has the popularity to be on the cover of the biggest sports game ...
Sportaphile Was Right, Sportaphile Was Wrong
2008-01-22 05:53:00
I make a lot of bold predictions, statements, and accusations on this site. Some of them turn out to be 100% right (ya know, because I’m a genius), and some of them turn out to be complete BS. I thought it’d be fun to take a look back at my greatest triumphs, and blunders for ...
Is It Too Early To Confirm Vince Young?s Madden Curse?
2007-11-19 22:27:00
Like clockwork, every single year the cover athlete for Madden NFL Football goes down in flames. I cringed earlier this year when I found out Vince Young took the money from EA Sports and decided to face the devil because I happen to like the guy. Vince Young has thrown only 4 touchdowns this year ...

Tim Crowder always wanted a chance to play Vince Young in college when they both played for Texas. Now he gets his chance. [CBS4 Denver] Opposites collide tonight as the Broncos run offense philosophy meets the Titans run defense.  [Rocky Mountain News] Brandon Marshall is on pace for 90 catches and 1,200 yards, but still ...
Vince Young is Better on the Road
2007-11-16 19:30:00
Photo Courtesy They say some quarterbacks excel in the “lion’s den,” when they feel like they’re against a wall and ready to pull the upset, with the fans and odds against them. Vince Young definitely falls under that category. Just looking back at his electric college title game against USC, Young has shown a certain ability ...
Titans @ Broncos Preview - 5 Steps to Win the Game
2007-11-15 18:43:00
Are the Titans that bad without Albert Haynesworth? I honestly don’t think so. Everything went wrong for Jeff Fisher’s club last Sunday against Jacksonville, including a season-low 68 yards on the ground. Until then, they’ve had a lot of success running the football, ranking in the top 5 in the league. This is ...
Daily Links - Farewell, Greg Eslinger
2007-11-15 13:35:00
The Cleveland Browns snagged C Greg Eslinger from the Broncos practice squad. I was rooting for Eslinger to make some noise this offseason, but once he didn’t get promoted following Tom Nalen’s injury, I figured his days as a Bronco were likely numbered. Good luck, E.[Denver Post] Cutler took his cartoony critique in stride. ...

The 60 Minutes Hit on VY
2007-10-01 20:13:00
I don’t know if you had a chance to catch Vince Young on 60 Minutes last night.  As the Titans Blogger,  I didn’t really want to watch it, but I felt a small obligation so I did.  When I finally turned it off at the end of the segment, I was disappointed that the Titans ...

2nd Year QBs So Far- Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler and Vince Young
2007-09-26 03:11:00
Coming into the season there were high expectations for 2006's rookie QBs - Arizona's Matt Leinart, Denver's Jay Cutler and Tennessee's Vince Young. Whether it was a gunslinger's arm (Cutler), a stable of skills players (Leinart), or skills and intangibles (Young), there were reasons to expect improvement over their 2006 debuts. Even Pro Football Prospectus chimed in with some analysis that QBs improve the most in their second years. This set-up high expectations for all three QBs. After seeing Arizona QB Matt Leinart benched this past Sunday and seeing the Broncos struggle to score points, I wanted to compare the three season-to-date. While nothing negative has happened with Young, he did have a sub-100 yard passing game. However, his running ability generally lessens the blow from his poor passing stats. Using a typical scoring system for yardage (1 pt per 25 passing and 1 pt per 10 rushing), Vince Young has been the most productive QB so far. Using MDC's 9/4/07 ADP report, ...

Message Board Marauder
2007-09-18 16:12:00
Tuesday means it's time to peruse the sports message boards to see what kind of douchebaggery is sprouting up.ESPN.com - NFL Board: "Can any black players speak well? Watching Emmitt Smith and Keyshawn on ESPN is brutal. Can anyone except Tiki Barber speak well? That is why I like that guy - he is a refreshing image of a black NFL player that isnt seen nearly enough." - 33Tony33Dorsett33ESPN.com - College Football Board: "Why Does OJ Keep Getting Set Up? First the racist LAPD sets him up for the murder of his x-wife, and now he's being set up for stealing his own stuff? What gives?" - orngandbluESPN.com - College Football Board: "why is everyone downgrading michigan? just becuse michigan losees 2 games you guys start to jump them if this was a different school no one would even care but listen up im promise a win next week and then a big ten title at the end of the season. go blue" - judebhamGangGreen.com - NY Jets: "It starting to look like that EM was only a good coach because ...
Vince Young
2007-09-04 00:07:00
Vince Young is the best young quarterback in the league. Vince Young makes all the players around him better. Vince Young will lead the Titans to the Super Bowl one year. Vince Young will win the NFL MVP before he retires. Vince Young will not only be on the cover of Madden '08, but also Madden '09. Vince Young's fecal matter produces no noticeable odor. There are a lot of strong opinions about Vince Young, some of them bordering on insane.  My strong opinion is that Vince Young is the most difficult fantasy quarterback to project for 2007.   He's obviously a running threat every time he touches the ball.  But can he really be expected to put up the 1039 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns that Vick had last year?  Doubtful. He's considered a passing threat, but can he even be expected to beat the 2474 passing yards and 20 passing TDs that Vick put up last season?  Consider that the Titans passing game lost Drew Bennett and Bobby Wade and added Eric M...
Vince Young Gets Benched
2007-08-12 07:24:00
Tennessee Titans head coach, Jeff Fisher has laid down the law on Vince Young. It seems as though Young has violated an unspecified team rule. Hence, he has been benched from the Titans pre-season opener. More than likely, this is in response to the Pacman Jones fiasco. As many know, Pacman has
Vince Young held out to play
2007-08-11 19:20:00
Titans starting quarterback Vince Young was held out of Saturday night’s preseason game by coach Jeff Fisher for violating a team rule. Fisher announced about an hour before the home game against the Washington Redskins that Young, who had been scheduled to run the Titans’ offense into the second quarter, for three or four series, ...
NFL Notes - Vince Young, Randy Moss, Daunte Culpepper
2007-08-02 13:56:00
Daunte Culpepper, QB, Oak - You've probably heard, but Culpepper signed a one-year deal with  the Raiders.  With JaMarcus Russell still holding out and the only other QB options in Oakland being Andrew Walter and Josh McCown, it's likely that Culpepper will start the season as the starter in Oakland.  He's a better fantasy option than Russell or McCown, but these are still the Raiders after all so he has a ceiling.  The Raiders will be throwing the ball a lot though, so Culpepper's worth a draft pick as a #2 QB in a 14 team or larger league. Randy Moss, WR, NE - Moss left practice with a groin/hamstring injury yesterday which is never a good sign, but is an especially bad sign considering how dinged up Moss has been the past few years.   Don't panic but it's something worth keeping an eye on. Chad Scott, DB, NE - Defensive back Chad Scott injured his knee and is out for the season.  The Pats had hoped Scott would step in to the starting spot while...
Pre-Draft NFL Notes
2007-04-20 04:20:00
I was gunna get drafted in the first round, but then I got high...? Apparently Calvin Johnson (GTech WR), Gaines Adams (Clemson DE), and Amobi Okoye (Louisville DT) all admitted to having used potThe admissions came out as part of a standard interview conducted at the Indianapolis Scouting Combine in February. The interview, conducted by a group of representatives from several teams, was videotaped and copies are sent to every NFL team. The interview was done by a committee/group called The Sports Xchange. All three players are viewed as the best players at their position and I consider Johnson to be the best overall player in the draft. Now, by my understanding they didn't say they were frequent users. They were merely being completely and totally honest in the questioning process. Here's a quote:"In context, these admissions were extremely honest responses of relatively minor, old events that should have little or no impact on how we perceive these young men at this point in thei...

Vince Young Gets the Madden Curse

Early Super Bowl Picks, Vegas Style
2007-03-03 09:04:00
Some family went to Las Vegas over the past weekend, and of course wasted their money. Not on the slots or anything like that, but by placing bets that the Green Bay Packers will win the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl next year.Green Bay is currently paying out 175$ if you place a 5$ bet that they will win the super bowl. If you bet they will win the NFC championship, a 5$ bet will get you 75$ dollars. Not all of the money went to waste though, as they did bet on the Chargers to win. A 10$ bet will cash out at 60$.I figured I may as well waste their money too. If you are gonna bet this early, you might as well go for a long shot. My first thought was my San Francisco 49ers, but that would just be like throwing away 5$, similar to betting on the Packers. After a few seconds, I decided to place my 5$ bet with the Tennessee Titans. If they win the Super Bowl on my 5$ bet, I will receive 125$.You have to figure the Tennessee Titans are the most favored long shot. Not only did they g...
Offensive Rookie Of The Year For Vince Young
2007-01-04 14:45:02
While DeMeco Ryans picked up the Defensive Rookie Of The Year award, the Associated Press have deemed fit to name Vince Young the Offensive Rookie Of The Year after taking almost half the 50 votes cast, beating off competition from Marques Colston (Saints), Maurice Drew (Jaguars), Marcus McNeill (Chargers) and Reggie Bush (Saints) who finished bottom of the voting order with three nominations. When Steve McNair left the Titans for the Ravens it looked like they’d fallen apart. Kerry Collins was draft in but they still couldn’t get anything going and started the season out at 0-5. Up stepped Vince Young and effectively lead the team on an 8-3 run, finishing the season at 8-8. Young is only the second quarterback to win the honour in almost a half century, Big Ben Roethlisberger being the other. Young also rushed for over 500 yards this season and will no doubt, as his career expands, chase down Michael Vick’s PB for this season and beyond. Fair play to the chap.
"Vince The Great" - Vince Young Leads Titans To 30-29 Win v.
2006-12-27 09:42:02
Young keeps Titans' streak, hopes alive NFL.com wire reportsORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (Dec. 24, 2006) -- If Vince Young keeps this up, the Tennessee Titans just might do the unthinkable and make the playoffs. The rookie first-round draft pick has the Titans (8-7), who started the season with five losses in a row, alive in the AFC playoff race entering the final weekend after rallying them to a 30-29 victory against the Buffalo Bills. The doubters have motivated Young all season long. "That's all you heard all season, that a rookie's not going to be able to do this and that," Young said. "And I took that as, 'Hey, let's show the world that you can do that.' " Young threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another to engineer his fourth comeback in the fourth quarter or overtime. This time, he helped Tennessee overcome a 29-20 deficit in the final 12 minutes. After hitting Brandon Jones for a 29-yard touchdown pass, Young engineered a 14-play, 75-yard drive, which Rob Bironas capped ...
The Many Questions Surrounding Vince Young
2006-12-06 21:20:01
5 TDs, 412 yards passing, and 147 yards rushing in his last 2 games has Vince Young getting much consideration from fantasy owners on multiple levels. Many are still in need of a good QB to help them in the playoffs. Some owners are looking for insurance, while others are thinking ahead and debating whether or not he is someone to keep in their keeper leagues. So no matter how you are thinking of him, the point remains the same...you are thinking about him. So what kind of value does Vince Young hold? Has he finally clicked with his Tennessee Titans team? Is he ready for you to own on your fantasy team? The answer, my faithful readers, is yes. Yes I think Vince Young is ready to be owned on your fantasy team, but I think he is a match-up kind of QB or a solid number 2 guy. Many fantasy owners have to start two QBs and Young is a great start. He seems to have built chemistry with his wide receivers and tight ends, and more importantly he is gaining that precious confidence.Young is a d...
