2011-12-07 09:17:00 Forty percent of women who report depressive symptoms following birth also reported intimate partner violence finds a new study published today (7 December) in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The study also found that most of the women reporting postnatal depressive symptoms first reported this at six months after birth or later. Intimate partner violence (both physical and emotional abuse) in the perinatal period is associated with a range of physical and psychological health problems including adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes, postnatal depression, and future behavioural problems for children. This Australian study looked at 1305 nulliparous women. They were recruited from six public hospitals between 6 and 24 weeks of gestation. Written questionnaires were completed at recruitment and at 3, 6 and 12 months postpartum.

While many see this as a slap in the face for Francis Munu, the whole incident stinks to high heaven of political corruption and, once again, raises serious doubts about the judgement of the country’s top cop and the probity of the force he heads. The Inspector General – handpicked by President Ernest Bai Koroma and seen as being very close to him – shocked many when, in the run-up to next year’s general elections, he issued a press release proscribing overt political activity. He declared “a blanket ban on all political rallies, processions and public meetings until further notice,” adding that, during this “cooling off period,” all political meetings should be confined to respective party offices.

2011-07-16 12:40:00 Nothing too fancy in this video. Just a straight forward recording. I had been in a HUGE writing slump and didn't even play guitar for days at a time (which is very rare for me). I think I even went over a week without touching a guitar! I had a lot of awesome riffs, but I was really trying to force myself to write on a 6 string, in drop C. So after a month of sitting on these riffs with no progress I said "Fuck it!" and picked up my Loomis and immediately the song just fell into place. Was really weird. So here it is. It ended up having a REALLY strong Nevermore/Loomis vibe to it after adding the drums. I don't think I've ever written a song in straight triplets before, so maybe that's why. The solos were improvised on the spot and were played through once. I think they ended up sounding pretty awesome so I kept them.
