Virgin Atlantic - New Development
2009-05-10 15:26:00
This photograph, taken at an unnamed location near London, shows a new development in aircraft design: It is conjectured that this is the prototype of a craft designed for true Mystery Tours - as there are no windows, neither the passengers nor crew know the route or destination. Here

Well this is quite an old pic but I have been going through my collection for images I might try and sell as stock and thought it was quite pleasant. Taken somewhere between the US and here. Nearer here for sure.

Virgin Atlantic trades Jet Fuel for Tanning Lotion
2008-02-24 18:30:00
Virgin Atlantic has long been my favorite airline that I never fly. I have to admit, I'm a sucker for the "cool" branding of certain products, and gimmicks that make a company look and feel bigger than they might actually be. Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic is a classic example of this. When he offered to fly Concorde after Air France and British Airways retired it, I hoped his quest would be a success (it wasn't.) I secretly cheer on the Virgin Galactic project, even though I don't wanna be anywhere near that Spaceship thing. And now, I'm quietly excited as Branson pioneers the use of Bio-Fuels in his jets.Earlier today, Virgin Atlantic performed a test flight where they replaced Jet fuel with a mixture of Coconut and other oils. Apparently the flight went well, although they aren't sure if the trip ended up acheiving its goal of reducing a jumbo jet's carbon footprint. They won't know for some days. But it probably will help keep the price of flying down, if the project ...

Branson’s Virgin Atlantic to feature in new Bond film
2008-02-06 09:33:00
He’ll be driving around town in his Aston Martin but when it comes to jetting off to different countries, James Bond will be catching Virgin Atlantic.   Sir Richard Branson confirmed that his airline carrier will be featured once again in the new 007 movie ‘Quantum of Silence’ starring Daniel Craig.   "Virgin Atlantic and James Bond make a great partnership - slick, smooth and renowned the world over. Casino Royale propelled Bond to greater success and we're certain that Quantum of Solace will set an even higher standard," the Daily Snack quoted him, as saying.   Branson himself appeared in the last 007 movie in a cameo role.   Virgin will also be a global partner for the new flick and will be supporting its release with a series of promotional and marketing initiatives. Chapter 7 - Virgin Atlantic is set to strike...
2007-12-31 20:50:00
All I can do is shake my head and smile. After everything we went through to get our BabyGirl on a plane to leave the US, I'm just as anxious to make sure she gets home! I could only LOL when I saw her airline (Virgin Atlantic) is set to strike, but luckily it seems they won't strike until January 9th. Maybe her trip home will be better than her trip there? I'm still going to anticipate

Virgin Atlantic testing Bio-fuel on Jumbo Jet
2007-11-16 20:56:00
British billionaire Richard Branson said on Monday his Virgin Group hopes to produce clean biofuels by around the start of the next decade and early next year will test a jet plane on renewable fuel. Virgin hopes to provide clean fuel for buses, trains and cars within three or four years, Branson told a Mortgage Bankers Association meeting in Boston. In the meantime, Virgin will be conducting a test jet flight on renewable fuels. "Early next year we will fly one of our 747s without passengers with one of the fuels that we have developed," Branson told the annual conference. Virgin is developing biofuels for aircraft in conjunction with Boeing Co and engine-maker GE Aviation, a unit of General Electric Co. Previously, Branson had said the company would test the fuel sometime next year and that some people had said it would be late in the year. Air New Zealand has said it plans to test a flight on a combination fuel of biofuel and kerosene in late 2008, but Virgi...
