Is Alex Sink - Florida?s Virginia Woolf ?
2007-12-01 20:49:00
Florida sure is grabbing all of the wrong headlines lately. For months we have heard about the Real Estate slump nationally, but Florida continues to get bad press. Yeah we all know we are in the running for the lead with Nevada and California on the number of foreclosures. We have also lead in home builders ...
Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
2007-11-05 05:44:00
The book is a close examination of Mrs. Dalloway, a wealthy London socialite widely admired for her grace and finesse in social circles, and Peter Walsh, her unrequited lover who has just returned from his lacklustre stint in India. Parallely, the book also portrays Septimus Warren Smith, a young war hero ...
Virginia Woolf Vs Babsi Jones - Gianni Biondillo & Giancarlo De Cataldo
2007-10-05 00:37:00
Book Review: Shaggy Muses: The Dogs Who Inspired Virginia Woolf, Emily Dick
2007-10-03 18:55:00
Author Maureen Adams wrote a wonderful overview of these famous women writers in her book Shaggy Muses. She explores each writer's life within the context of their relationship and dependence on their dog(s). If you are a dog lover, you can connect to the strong bonds between the women and their dogs. A dog is always accepting and incredibly tolerant. These dogs were no different and constantly, devotedly listened to their mistresses recite their work without ever appearing critical. They also kept the writers from feeling too much loneliness during their literary solitude.Even if you are not a dog lover, this book offers a great overview and introduction to some of the most famous women writers of English literature. I do have to warn you; however, some of the experiences these women went through were painful.Pick up a copy of "Shaggy Muses: The Dogs Who Inspired Virginia Woolf, Emily Dickinson, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Edith Wharton, and Emily Bronte" by Maureen Adams.Publishe...

La señora Dalloway - Virginia Woolf
2007-07-24 21:47:00
?The Spirit of Delight? Virginia Woolf speaks...
2007-05-19 13:42:00
?The Spirit of Delight? Virginia Woolf speaks of visits by the ?spirit of delight?, and my friend Carol Gibson of the same experience. As does my partner in ?magic moments?. And I am reminded of it by Proust?s ?madelaine?, the taste of which sets off ?A la recherché du temps perdus? (?Remembrance of Things Past?). And I am occasionally and unexpectedly found by this seductive phantom. And wait and long for more. Yesterday - remarkably - there were several calls. The first was brought on by the perfume base of the cold cream worn by a tall slim elegant late thirty-something woman in a Cuban restaurant, ?Café Havana? in Malate, one of the districts in the former night life (i.e. sex industry) area of the city. Which is now re-constructing itself as a trendy hip Paddington (Sydney) Chelsea (London) Soho (New York) shopping, dining out and clubbing scene. And then twice later in the evening in ?The Library?, a gay karaoke-Comedy Café venue. Similarly evoked by the same sce...

Thanks to TM for sending me this beautiful song … classsy Some will strut and some will fret See this an hour on the stage Others will not but theyll sweat In their hopelessness and their rage Were all the same the men of anger And women of the page They published your diary And thats how I got to know you The key to the room of your own and a mind without end And heres a young girl On a kind of a telephone line through time And the voice at the other end comes like a long lost friend So I know Im all right Life will come and life will go Still I feel its all right Cause I just got a letter to my soul And when my whole life is on the tip of my tongue Empty pages for the no longer young The apathy of time laughs in my face You say each life has its place The hatches were battened The thunderclouds rolled and the critics stormed The battle surrounded the white flag of your youth If you need to know that you weathered the storm Of cruel mortality A hundred years later Im sittin...
