2008-01-03 03:46:00 The Complete Reference to Professional SOA with Visual Studio 2005 (C# & VB 2005) focuses on architecting and constructing enterprise-level systems. Taking advantage of the newly released Visual Studio 2005 development environment, the book assesses the current service-oriented platform and examines new ways to develop for scalability, availability, and security (which have become available with .NET 2.0). You’ll get to look closely at application infrastructure in terms of flexibility, interoperability, and integration, as well as the decisions that have to be made to achieve optimum balance within your architecture.http://rapidshare.-com/files/72683140/The.Complete-.Reference.to.Professional.SOA.-with.V
Creating an ActiveX Control in Visual Studio 2005
2007-12-03 12:12:00 There have been misconceptions on technologies upon the arrival of .Net. Many programmers believe that the arrival of .Net means the scrapping of all previous technologies. Or in other word the COM technology. COM or ActiveX technology has been around us for very long. So it?s not quite easy to scrap a long-time proven technology. Some also believed that the .Net technology replaces the ActiveX in all applications. Well, sadly this is not true. I was awakened by this reality when I handled a code conversion project. It was a conversion from Visual Basic 6 to Visual Basic 8 (VB2005). The Visual Basic 6 project was a dll-based project with an ActiveX Document as its user interface. As we all know, user documents are controls that is embedded to a web page.

2007-11-09 13:00:00 You know how you can use the extra mouse buttons to move back and forward in Internet Explorer? The same shortcuts work in Visual Studio. Suppose you right-click on a function call, and select Go To Definition. Once you’re done looking at the definition, hit the back button on your mouse: You’re taken right back to ...
How to Add Microsoft Word Export Formats to Visual Studio 2005 Report Desig
2007-10-10 03:07:00 It's a bit shameful but until recently I was almost sure that the Visual Studio 2005 Report Designer (Business Intelligence Development Studio) does not support custom rendering extensions and the export formats are hard coded :) Thanks to one of our customers, it turned out I was wrong. So, since Aspose.Words for Reporting Services is a rendering extensions allowing to export RDL reports to Microsoft Word formats, you can easily add those formats directly to your report designer. Moreover, starting with the version 1.4.2.0, the MSI installer adds the formats automatically if it detects Visual Studio 2005 Report Designer on your machine. If you need to do that manually though, just follow these simple steps: Open the C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEPrivateAssemblies folder. Copy Aspose.Words.ReportingServices.-dll to that folder. Locate two files in the folder: RSReportDesigner.config and RSPreviewPolicy.config and edit them exactly as you ...

Visual Studio 2005 Debugging Tips
2007-06-28 18:12:00 One of my developers at work posted this on our "tips" blog. Good stuff... Just in case you?ve never tried, it - the next time you?re looking at a call stack while stopped at a break point in visual studio 2005, try right clicking in the call stack window and investigating some of the context menu options. Here?s some that stand out. Discovering the first one just gave me a some good insight into why .NET control events were being fired without my, or our users, instigation. It is especially useful in combo with Reflector. .NET (http://www.aisto.com/roeder/do-tnet/) Show External Code Changes those single line, obstuse call stack phrases ?[External Code]? into illuminating exposés of internal .NET assembly method call stacks, complete with cracked message and parameter info. Include Calls To / From Other Threads Can provide deeper insight into how your breakpoint was reached in a multithreading scenario The Load Symbols MenuThis section of the menu provides runtime access to the deb...

Cool Commands for Visual Studio 2005
2007-06-21 02:41:00 I just can't resist a good add on. Gaston Milano's CoolCommands is one of those Visual Studio addon's that just fits. The one feature I really like is the Collapse All Projects in the solution explorer. This feature alone is worth the download. Fellow blogger Jim Holms has a great review of it here. The solution is to download UnPrjConvertor application from this page. You can run this app to convert VS2005 solution into VS2003 or VS 6.0 formats. Also it converts projects .vcproj into .dsw format. But I can't to convert VC

Dual monitor use in Visual Studio 2005
2007-04-14 00:57:00 If you have dual monitors and would like to make some use of the expanded realestate, check this out. You can likely do something like this in the MDI mode of VS2005 but I like that tab interface better and this trick gives me the best of both. Make your main Visual Studio application window a sizeable window (not minimized or maximized). Resize it to stretch it as wide as you'd prefer across both monitors (the 2nd image below completely spans the width and height of both my monitors) Right click on an open source code window's tab and choose New Vertical Tab Group. The result is two fully independent code panes, with independent scrolling, browsing, etc. You can also create numerous horizontal tab groups, which I didn't explore yet. Use your mouse to drag/place the vertical splitter where you prefer (in the 2nd image below, my splitter sits right at the border between my two monitors, so that the left side files the entire left monitor). You can drag and drop source code...

Visual Studio 2005 Update for Windows Vista Released...
2007-03-09 19:51:02 The final release of the VS 2005 update for Windows Vista is now available. This update fixes most of the issues that you may have faced with running Visual Studio 2005 on Windows Vista. Install Visual Studio 2005, the Service Pack 1 update, and then the Windows Vista update to get a fully-supported developer environment. There's also an interesting interview with Soma (the VP responsible for the Developer Division here) on Microsoft Presspass. The questions are a little soft (the interview is posted on our press relations site, after all!) but it's a good review of where the developer platform is today and the focus areas for the developer tools and platform part of the business.

Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 is out!
2006-12-22 22:15:00 Just announced!I was waiting on this service pack since I had used VS2005 for production code. I was awaiting it further more as soon as we had set our TFS server to production.Service pack 1 is announced for:· Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite (Standard, Professional, and Team Editions of VS2005)· Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server (TFS)· Visual Studio 2005 Express EditionsAn additional refresh is available for Windows Vista; the refresh is a beta version that is built over the current Service Pack. The final release is scheduled to ship after the consumer availability of Windows Vista in the first quarter of 2007.What am I expecting to find in this service pack release? First of all I?m looking at stability and performance. VS2005 is quite stable as long as you don?t connect it to TFS, and as soon as you connect it to TFS you get to have crashes and performance issues. This release of the service pack, as reported, is solving both the stability and performance i...

Package Load Failure in Visual Studio 2005 (RTM)
2006-08-07 15:39:02 Today, after installing the RTM version of VS.NET 2005, I got some errors due to previous installs of the Betas. One of the was a Package Load Failure for the Class Designer. After a quick search on MSDN Product Feedback Center I found a case (FDBK39168, now closed) with a really nice tool that scans and fixes a number of known issues in Visual Studio.NET. You can download it here: http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/-Tools/ttool.zip if you have the same or similar errors. |
