Most Voters Worry About Economy
2008-10-01 07:25:00
Voters are deeply divided over the terms of the government's $700 billion economic rescue package but overwhelmingly fear that the House's rejection of the measure on Monday could deepen the country's financial woes, according to the latest Washington
Media Expectations Won?t Matter Much to Most Voters Watching Debates
2008-09-26 21:48:00
Oftentimes when we who write about politics talk about the debates, we evaluate how well a candidate has done based upon our expectations of his performance. To that end, campaigns tend to talk down their candidates debating skills while praising their opponent as well-versed in this arena.  This way, after the encounter, they can note how ...
Another Non-Obama Voters are Racists Story
2008-09-25 17:21:00
-By Warner Todd Huston The single most common current explanation for a possible Obama loss posited today by the left is that America is filled with racists. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review uses this charge to the hilt in a September 21 piece on union members voting McCain. Naturally, the only reason the Trib-Review can come up with ...
Independent Voters Break for McCain, yet the polls. . .
2008-09-25 16:30:00
Over at CampaignSpot, Jim Geraghty noticed something that Bruce first drew to my attention two weeks ago: independent voters are breaking for John McCain. In two successive posts yesterday, Geraghty observed that both the Wall Street Journal poll and the LA Times poll had McCain beating Obama among independents by margins of thirteen points and fifteen ...

Washington Post Poll Shows Likely Voters Backing Obama By Wide Margin
2008-09-24 15:00:00
As I've written in the recent past, when likely voters tend to be Republican. What does it say when the majority tilt toward the Democratic Candidate? Well that's what's happening in today's Washington Post poll. See below: Turmoil in the financial industry and growing pessimism about the economy have altered the shape of the presidential race, giving Democratic nominee Barack Obama the first clear lead of the general-election campaign over Republican John McCain, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News national poll. Just 9 percent of those surveyed rated the economy as good or excellent, the first time that number has been in single digits since the days just before the 1992 election. Just 14 percent said the country is heading in the right direction, equaling the record low on that question in polls dating back to 1973. More voters trust Obama to deal with the economy, and he currently has a big edge as the candidate who is more in tune with the economic pr...

SF Chron: McCain Voters Racists and Easily Fooled
2008-09-07 22:39:00
-By Warner Todd Huston The San Francisco Chronicle published an article on September 7 masterful for its underhanded back slapping of John McCain, Sarah Palin and anyone who would vote for them all while pretending to say how successful the McCain/Palin ticket is in garnering support since the end of the GOP Convention. Nearly every “positive” ...
NBC?s Andrea Mitchell: Only Hillary?s Uneducated Voters will Vote For Sarah
2008-09-02 10:25:00
-By Warner Todd Huston **Video Below the Fold** Tom Brokaw’s Meet the Press this week was as prosaic as ever, but for one little line uttered by the increasingly partisan Andrea Mitchell. In a discussion about the McCain VP pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, guest Doris Kerns Goodwin, plagiarist/historian, said that the choice of Palin is ...

2008-09-02 00:13:00
By Jefferson Flanders PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL JOHN MCCAIN’S CHOICE OF ALASKA GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN AS his running mate is, conventional political wisdom holds, a risky move for the Republican standard-bearer, largely because of Palin’s lack of foreign policy experience. But Palin exudes a certain toughness—from her willingness to take on the Alaskan political establishment to her lifelong ...
Democratic National Convention - The Hillary Voters and Sarah Palin
2008-08-30 23:48:00
I believe Palin was an inspired choice, and will actually impact the election. Before I attended the convention, I accepted the conventional wisdom that the number of women who really felt ill-used by the Obama campaign’s treatment of Hillary was very small, and/or that the depth of feeling was shallow and the importance of electing a ...
South Carolina Has 670,000 Registered Black Voters, Or One Fourth Of Total
2008-07-26 22:11:00
Some people are bothered by a new poll as of this writing that has Sen. John McCain ahead of Sen. Barack Obama by 13 points or so. But given that SC has 670,000 registered Black voters out of 2.3 million voters, if you think of that group voting as a bloc, then all Democrats, it's hard to see Senator Obama not winning the state, if not being within 4 points of McCain.

A Call to Emmy Voters: Stop Voting For ‘Name’ Guest Actors
2008-07-08 13:01:00
Is it just me, or is there something really fishy about the recently leaked list of Top Ten Emmy Semifinalists for Best Guest Actor in a Drama Category? While I’ve got nothing against any of this years more-than-worthy list of semifinalists. I just can’t help but get the impression that the only pre-requisite one needs in order to score a guest acting Emmy nomination entails being an already established ‘name’ on either the big or small screens. Just take a look at some of the previous years nominees in both the comedy and drama categories. Or as I like to call it, Groundhog Day — Emmy Style! Charles S. Dutton, John Laroquette, Alec Baldwin, Forest Whitaker and Glenn Close all earned multiple nods while single nominations have been given out to quite a few young up and coming actors you may be familiar with, including Susan Sarandon, David Morse, John Goodman, Patrick Stewart, Ben Stiller, Catherine Helmond and Cloris Leachmen. Courting Hispanics And Faith Voters Without The Press Noticing
2008-07-04 09:16:00
Obama’s been in the news courting faith voters, talking to evangelical leaders. McCain? He’s been visiting Colombia and Mexico. Ho hum. Yawn. I was bemused when one political writer wondered if the hostage rescue in Colombia had been “timed” for his benefit. Tres estupido.  What if the rescue had gone wrong? But of course, the rescue merely ...
Attempts to Con Jewish Voters About Obama
2008-06-07 22:43:00
Although Jewish voters represent only a very small percent of the population, there certainly seems to be considerable effort to scare Jewish voters away from voting for Obama. Obama Reaches Out to Clinton Voters
2008-06-07 20:17:00
In an attempt to bridge the gap he has with uneducated white voters, Barack Obama went into a West Virginia Wall mart and bought his very first Billie Joel CD. Billie Joel's Greatest Hits. "Wow this is really awesome, Barack said after only 40 seconds of listening to it." Barack also bought the first five seasons of Friends and some new ammo for all the deer hunting he plans on doing in the next week. "Barack really is loving his new white lifestyle," said a senior Obama staff member. "He even did the tomahawk chop at the Washington National game yesterday, and the braves weren't even playing!" Ignorant whites everywhere are taking a second look at Barack.  "I thought he was too much like that  bad Ni#^ER  Malcolm X, but I think he might be more like that nice colored boy Will Smith," said an ignorant non college educated white women, who still loves Hillary.  (Blackdog fact #79, Hillary Clinton actually gets her race ...

Barack Obama courts Cuban voters in Miami
2008-05-24 03:09:00
Some points: 1. How is Bush responsible for Chavez if Chavez was elected in 1999? Don't many Obama supporters like Danny Glover and Sean Penn support Chavez. The two I mentioned visited Chavez! Hello! Earth to Obama! 2. Mentioning Bush in every sentence with McCain is an effective tactic for wooing stupid people, one of his major constituencies, I guess. 3. Obama voted against a trade agreement with our best (only?) ally in South America, Colombia, but it's Bush (and McCain who is Bush) who is alienating them. His solution, like his solution to everything else, is to give away my money; this time, in aid. 4. He did say he'd meet without pre-conditions but then changed. Who cares? He doesn't know what he's saying. 5. I suspect that the main reason Cubans are Republicans is their more entrepreneurial attitude and firm grip on the middle and upper rungs on the economic ladder, not because of Cuba policy. Article below. MIAMI — Sen. Barack Obama, who once said he w...

Chance to update state constitution will be in voters hands
2008-05-23 00:00:00
By Kathleen Haughney SPRINGFIELD — Illinois voters in November will get to decide whether to have a constitutional convention and revamp the state?s governing document. The question of whether to rewrite the state constitution is automatically put to voters every 20 years, and Illinoisans rejected the idea in 1988. But some veteran political observers and activists ...
Arizona Voters to Recall Senator McCain?
2008-05-22 21:12:00
Most amusing concept ever? Here's a plea to the Arizona voters to Recall John McCain, which would be just down right funny, but... it might also give a phenomenal long shot chance for Dr. Ron Paul to be tapped for the Republican nomination for US President. The Revolution is heating up and Senator John McCain now finds himself at war with his own party. In particular, the Ron Paul r3volution! It is my idea to start a recall petition drive against McCain, within his home state of Arizona; as a RINO (republican in name only) McCain cannot, should not, and will not be the standard barer for the Republican Party. Please Start the Recall Petition process to remove McCain as Arizona's US Senator... read more

Senator Hllary Clinton won a decisive victory in the West Virginia primary by gaining over 60% of the votes including nearly 75% of white voters. Hip Hop 4 Prez: What the Hell?! Clinton Claims White Voters!!
2008-05-08 22:41:00
I said this in a post earlier today, but I really think the Clintons are trying to destroy the Democratic party. The New York Times is reporting that Hillary Clinton is making comments that are not only racially divisive, but are meant to undermine Obama's ability to reach out to white working class voters. Check out the quote: I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,? she said in the interview, citing an article by The Associated Press. It ?found how Senator Obama?s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.? ?There?s a pattern emerging here,? she said....These are the people you have to win if you?re a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election. Quarter of IN, NC Primary Voters Vote Against McCain
2008-05-07 14:55:00
McCain already has the Republican candidacy wrapped up as far as delegates go. But in yesterday’s primary, a quater of Republican voters voted against McCain. In Indiana, Mike Huckabee pulled down 12% of the vote, followed by Ron Paul with 8%. In North Carolina, Huckabee nabbed 10%, and Paul received another 8%. What does this all mean? At least a quarter of the Republican base is still not accepting John McCain. And Johnny Mac isn’t doing anything to endear himself to those voters. If he continues rejecting them, they will stay home and he will lose to Barack Obama. Is This the Year for Third Party Candidates?
Voters turn out for what could be Democrats' final round
2008-05-06 19:33:00
Well, here we are again. "It would be a game changer if Clinton wins both North Carolina and Indiana by double-digit margins," said Bill Schneider, CNN senior political correspondent. "That would signal to the superdelegates that Democratic voters are having serious doubts about Obama. She needs big victories because it's so late in the game." In all, only 404 pledged delegates remain to be chosen, and Tuesday's total of 187 makes it the biggest single primary day left. Clinton would need to win 70 percent of the remaining pledged delegates to catch up with Obama. "That's very unlikely," Schneider said. "She stands a better chance of catching up in the total popular vote." With neither candidate expected to win the 2,025 delegates needed to clinch the Democratic nomination by June 3, the end of the primary season, the final decision will most likely fall to the 796 so-called superdelegates: Democratic governors, members of Congress and party officials.   Today's not going ...

Hillary Clinton To "Stick It" To Black Voters With "Nuclear Option"
2008-05-05 21:31:00
Well, it's not like she's got the Black vote, so Senator Hillary Clinton - in a desparate attempt to gain delegates over Senator Barack Obama, is going to use what she calls "a nuclear option" which would certainly detroy the Democratic Party. Clinton wants Florida and Michigan delegates to be counted. Which is fine -- but Clinton herself signed a contract not to count or campaign in those states because they broke the DNC rules. Even Clinton said a few months ago, that Florida and Michigan don't count. But now here's this nuclear option -- it's all about Clinton and to hell with the party. These are the scenarios to watch for according to the Huffington Post:Using the Rules and Bylaws Committee to force the seating of two pro-Hillary delegations would provoke a massive outcry from Obama forces. Such a strategy would, additionally, face at least two other major hurdles, and could only be attempted, according to sources in the Clinton camp, under specific circumstances:Firs...
