Case Study Monday: eROI and Wacom
2008-04-21 18:37:00 Welcome to another edition of Case Study Monday. This Case Study comes to us from a conference up in Portland, Oregon, that Suzanne attended last week. The conference was an e-marketing summit called Innotech. eROI was one of the many companies who presented at the conference. They are a leading e-mail and interactive agency. They presented this case study at the conference, and we found it so compelling we thought we'd share it with you. We hope you enjoy this great example of using creativity to create a community -- and how eROI helped their client, Wacom, effectively utilize social marketing.Wacom -- Power of the Pens, Building a Community Wacom products have become such an essential tool to digital artists. The company bridges the gap between fine arts and today’s digital workflow. So much so, in fact, that even those who have never used a Wacom product know the brand by name. For this campaign, we wanted to share that connection of experienced and new artists. We wante...

Wacom Cintiq 12WX
2008-04-07 14:38:00 Wacom Cintiq 12WXWacom's new high-end tablet, the Cintiq 12WX is one interesting tablet as you will be able to use it as a dual monitor and a tablet simultaneously, adding a previously unthought of dimension to a peripheral which we take for granted. All you need to do is press an express button on the top left hand corner of the 12WX, and the tablet automatically springs to life, being activated by turns. The users will then be free to work on a PC or the tablet, depending on their preference. It tips the scales at 1.8kg, making it suitable to work on the 12.1' LCD panel wherever one goes. No idea on how much it costs nor when will it be released to the masses though. (Via UberGizmo, the Gadgets News Blog.)

Wacom Bamboo Tablet First Impression
2007-12-21 18:40:00 I thought I'd post my first impressions on the Wacom Bamboo tablet that arrived this morning. The box it comes in, is very nice, one downside, for a Mac user is that there's no software bundled with it, except drivers, unlike for windows you get JustWrite Office. The tablet is a nice size for my desk, nice and solidly built. The pen is light, and just about the right size for me.Then stand for the pen, isn't too big, but isn't to small, just about the right size, to sit on one corner of the tablet. The only thing that would be nice is a mouse, yeah I know the pen replaces that, but there are times when I don't need that level of precision. But I've still got my normal mouse plugged in... So I'll use that for when less accuracy is needed.I'll post a more in depth review after I've used this for a few days.

Wacom Cintiq 21UX: Touch a Screen for Instant Creativity
2007-12-01 02:27:00 The flashiest upgrade for any computer is a big, beautiful LCD monitor. It’s something everyone will notice. But not everyone will catch on that the Wacom Cintiq is so much more than just a 21.3-inch looker-at least, not until they see that cordless stylus next to it. Then you can reveal the truth: It’s, an interactive, pressure-sensitive (to 1,024 levels), pen-driven display that you need for your art.Upgrading is easy. Just plug the Cintiq into your DVI (Digital Visual Interface) port (or VGA port with the included adapter) and into an open USB port - it uses the latter for data communication with the computer. The stand lets you orient the Cintiq like any monitor, or place it almost flat on the desk for some serious work by hand, whether you’re using it as a tablet for writing or illustrating the next great Web comic. As with any drawing tablet, the harder you push with the stylus in a paint program like Adobe Illustrator, the darker the line. But with the Chitiq, your line...

One week left: Aniboom/Shapeshifter WACOM contest
2007-09-03 22:51:00 There's only about a week left to enter the Aniboom contest to design a simple (or elaborate) birthday greeting animation. The grand prize is a brand new Wacom tablet. Flip through the entires to see that you REALLY HAVE A CHANCE at this one.It should be noted that the online software used to create these animations isn't easy, nor intuitive to use. Also, the creation software uses the browser. The shape shifter software is vector based animation software. While it's interesting to see that there is a way to create flash animation online, the resulting animations leave quite a bit to be desired. It may not be a fault of the software, but two of the 4 top animations are created by someone who has remarked that it is a long and painful animation process. If the wacom tablet is worth the pain, check it out @ aniboom:http://www.aniboom.com/-Competition/

Tutorial: Choosing the right Wacom Tablet
2007-06-19 04:01:00 In this tutorial I will introduce you to the benefits and features of a Wacom Tablet. You will find this tutorial especially useful if you are planning to get a Wacom Intuos or Wacom Graphire in the near future. Following is my graphic tablet wisdom, as collected through my 15 years as a professional illustrator: Choosing the right Wacom tablet model and size: Choosing a tablet model and size that best fits your needs should be your first priority. Fortunately, it’s fairly easy to figure out which one will get you the most bang for the money. If you are a home user interested in retouching photos and creating simple graphics for personal projects, I’d go for a Graphire 4 6×8. Very affordable and it comes with great bundled software : Photoshop Elements 3 and Corel Painter Essentials 2 to mention the most useful ones. The Graphire is available is 4×5, 6×8 sizes and three colors: white, silver and metallic blue. If you are not a professional in the world o...
