Why No Love For Wade Phillips?
2007-11-30 20:38:00 If coaches are going to be ripped and fired for failure, they sure ought to get some credit for success. The best team in the NFC gets tons of publicity (Romo, T.O.), but none of it is directed at its coach. Let me be the first to say it - Wade Phillips is doing as good of a job as any coach in the

Wade Phillips, Dave Campo. Same guy?
2007-08-20 19:42:00 time, when Dave Campo was coaching the Cowboys, I remember watching a game. At the end of the game, as customary now for the NFL, the coaches and the players come together in a homosexual embrace of whispering sweet nothings into each others ears, hugging, and patting bottoms. Coaches usually stick

New Coach Preview - Wade Phillips
2007-06-13 22:19:00 Wade Phillips - Dallas Cowboys Résumé Highlights: 1989 - Def Coord, Denver Broncos 1993 - Head Coach, Denver Broncos 1995 - Def Coord, Buffalo Bills 1998 - Head Coach, Buffalo Bills 2002 - Def Coord, Atlanta Falcons 2003 - Head Coach, Atlanta Falcons 2004 - Def Coord, San Diego Chargers 2007 - Head Coach, Dallas Cowboys Impact: Phillips sure knows how to get himself a head coaching job. Maybe it's telling that the Chargers didn't offer him their head coaching job though. While Phillips has proven himself as a defensive expert in the NFL, he's equally proven himself as being unable to successfully handle the duties of a head coach in the NFL. But I think that Phillips probably has done all the growing and changing he's likely to do. He now has to take over a...

Wade Phillips Named Cowboys Coach
2007-02-09 06:00:00 Jerry Jones decided to take everyone a little bit by surprise today and introduced former Chargers defensive coordinator and erstwhile Broncos and Bills head coach Wade Phillips as the new Dallas head coach. In hindsight, this is probably the logical ending to an illogical search. After hiring Jason Garrett as the offensive coordinator before the head coach was hired, it wouldn't have made sense to bring in Norv Turner to be the head coach, like most expected was going to happen. Norv's biggest strength as everyone knows, is his mind for offense. That's why he's always been a great offensive coordinator. But he's not exactly Bill Parcells when it comes to the intangibles of getting a team ready to play as a head coach. So why bring in Garrett if you'd just be better off having Turner call the plays? That would make Garrett a wasted hire, and from what everyone seems to be saying about him, he's a bright guy with quite a future ahead of him as a coach in the league. In the end,...
