Garnish Wages or Bank Account?????
2008-05-03 22:30:00
To get to the point I evicted some tenants and went to court in which they did not show up. The Judge gaves us the judgement in what we were asking for (back rent, current damages, court costs etc.) They moved out on the day of the court hearing. I do not know where they moved to nor have they contacted me except to say they moved and their belongings have been taken out. I do know their employer at the time they moved and I have the bank information. I can go through the process to have the wages garnished (25% each pay period) or lump sum from the bank providing they have the money in there I assume. The judgement is a little under $2000.00. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Raising wages to address rising costs not the right solution - Singapore
2008-04-26 08:34:00
Raising wages to address rising costs not the right solution - Singapore By S Ramesh SINGAPORE: Raising wages to address the issue of rising costs may be an enticing option but that is not the right solution, said Acting Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong. He said adjusting wages upwards to meet rising prices would only result in a “price-wage spiral” and Singaporeans should look at the bigger picture. “What is more important is for us to have a realistic expectation of wages that reflect the underlying economic strength of our industries and also of our productivity. That will allow us to ensure that our economy will be able to sustain its growth momentum,” said Mr Gan. Since the last two recessions, tripartite partners – the government, unions and employers – have been working hard to encourage companies to restructure their wage systems to make them more flexible. This would allow companies to respond quickly when there is an economic downturn. One compone...
Everything You Want To Know About China Wages. Jumbled Government Style.

Xinhua article just out on rapidly (I think) increasing salaries in China. This article, entitled, "Average salary increase of urban workers rises to six-year high," contains many salary numbers and statistics, but it is so vague both with the numbers and with the writing that I cannot parse out its highlights. Yet, because I am so often asked about wages in China, I am linking to this article in the hopes others out there can figure out what it says. May he or she with better numbers or real analysis, throw the first comment.

The language of numbers: The wages and salaries in Egypt
2008-03-12 20:26:00
I think that the wages and Salaries laws in Egypt should be changed , it is the right time now , why I am speaking that well check with me these numbers :The minimum Salary in Egypt according to law no.53 for year 1984 is L.E 35 "US$ 7" !!! The national council for salaries made a study and found that the current minimum wages and salaries should be raised to the following : - Those who did not complete their education should take L.E 250 - Those who have secondary certificate should take L.E 275 - Those who have university certificate should take L.E 300This was published in Daily Nahda Misr from couple of days ago, I wrote down the number because they are shocking to me , because if these were the suggestions of that Council after a study to the current wages and salaries then how much is the current minimum wage or Salary for the three now ?? These numbers can't secure anyone one at least they should raise them to L.E 500The Salary of the Prime min...

The worker's wages
2008-03-08 16:48:00
For some reason the question of clergy compensation - especially the motivation behind such compensation - has been floating in my head for the last few days (and let me say at the outset that I am quite happy with the compensation provided by my current congregation, this is just an intellectual wandering, not a complaint). With most church budgets being occupied 50-70% by pastoral compensation, it is no shocker that the pastor's pay (and attending costs) are subject to more discussion every year than any other single element of the budget. Indeed, I would argue that the pastor's compensation is the most consistently contentious issue in church life.Part of the reason, I think, is that we have different understandings of what should be the determinative factor when setting pastoral compensation. In fact, there is a whole list of issues that could be, are, or should be factors in determining such compensation (to name a few):Amount of educationAmount of ordained experienceQuality o...

ARCH ENEMY - Wages of Sin (2001)
2008-02-27 06:22:00

I was wondering how Senator Clinton was planning to make sure that every American had health care and now I know. According to this Yahoo.com account, Clinton plans to garnish wages to make sure a health care plan is adapted for that family. This brings the Clinton plan into full focus and defines how it's different from the plan Senator Barack Obama has developed which is focused on reducing Health Care costs. The Clinton plan reads as if it's going to force a high health care cost on the American public and place money into the pockets of the drug companies.

Singapore NTUC aims to improve job skills, wages for 35,000 workers in 2008
2008-01-29 19:41:00
Singapore NTUC aims to improve job skills, wages for 35,000 workers in 2008 By Julia Ng SINGAPORE: The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) wants to focus on three areas this year - raising the employment rate, lowering unemployment, and bringing down underemployment. Some 35,000 unionised workers are expected to get help to improve their skills and wages, and the ultimate aim is to help workers weather any turmoil in the global economy. The NTUC also wants to get some 100,000 low-wage workers, including contract and part-time workers, onto the CPF scheme, so that they would not miss out on help schemes such as the Workfare Income Supplement scheme. The International Labour Organisation estimates that the world will see a five per cent GDP growth. Unemployment, however, will outstrip that growth at over 6.1 per cent, which means five million more people could go jobless around the globe. Speaking to unionists and workers at the annual Labour Movement Workplan Seminar, labour chief ...
China wages a cool war
2007-12-22 06:17:00
From Asia Times OnlineHONG KONG - The Chinese government, which spent 2007 trying to prevent the country's economy overheating, caught investors on the hop this week with the sixth interest rate rise of the year, adding to indications that it will intensify its efforts to cool the economy in the coming 12 months. With effect from December 21, the one-year deposit rate was raised by 27 basis points to 4.14% , while the one-year lending rate was raised by 18 basis points to a nine-year high of 7.47%. These and other interest rate adjustments came as a surprise as previous rate increases were revealed on Fridays after the stock markets had closed or during weekends. In another move to encourage depositors to keep their money in banks and not invest them in stock and the property markets, the People's Bank of China, the central bank, lowered the rate paid on money held in current accounts to 0.72% from 0.81%. A PBoC spokesperson said that the move was meant to encourage depositors to pu...

Wages keeping pace with household debt - Singapore
2007-12-04 01:23:00
Wages keeping pace with household debt - Singapore Household balance sheet strengthened by rising property, equity prices By SIOW LI SEN SINGAPOREANS are a conservative lot. Despite strong wage growth, they are careful about borrowing too much. And with strong appreciation in property prices, the negative housing equity situation continues to improve. Household debt of $157.9 billion as a share of wages has continued to fall, from 195 per cent in 2005 to 181 per cent in 2006, according to the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s 2007 Financial Stability Review. Households play an important role in the banking system as depositors and borrowers. Household deposits make up around half of domestic non-bank deposits and loans to households account for about half of domestic non-bank loans. Rising property and equity prices have strengthened the household balance sheet, it said. In addition, wage growth has kept pace with growth in household debt. Household debt grew in Q2 2007, but a...

Pay As You Earn Wages And Salaries Tax Scheme Explained Posted By : Terry C

The PAYE system is a payroll administration system whereby employers deduct on a weekly or monthly basis income tax and national insurance contributions from employees wages and salaries. The PAYE administration involves the calculation of deductions, often performed by payroll software, and the tax returns and forms required by the tax authority which in the UK is the Inland Revenue. The tax laws can be incredibly complicated to understand, especially for the Small Business Owner like yourself. How can you be expected to run your business AND keep up with all the tax rules and regulations? That's why over the years I've discovered many tax-saving strategies that will reduce your tax bill each and every year. Good News for Americans — Your Wages Are Flat!
2007-11-22 21:47:00
by Norman Solomon The economic coverage was fairly typical on a recent broadcast of the radio program “Day to Day,” airing nationwide from NPR News. “There’s actually some good news out today about the American economy,” host Madeleine Brand announced. Then she introduced a reporter from the widely heard “Marketplace” show, Jill Barshay, who proceeded to offer the type of explanation that’s all too common in media accounts of economic trends. “Well, just to be clear, we’re talking about worker productivity, which is how much stuff we make every hour,” Barshay replied. “And the Labor Department reported this morning that the hourly output per worker increased 4.9 percent in the third quarter. That’s the biggest jump in labor productivity we’ve seen since 2003. Another part of the report also says that labor costs fell a bit, so we’ve got employees being more productive and costing companies less. And this is important because it shows that the economy might be able to grow withou...
