Apple and Walnut Risotto with Gorgonzola
2008-09-04 23:36:00 Who isn't a Jamie Oliver fan, right? Well, if you're not for some crazy reason, I promise you will be after you see this recipe. In case you haven't noticed, I make quite a lot of risotto. It's one of my all-time favorite foods for many reasons: 1) There are SO many things you can do with it and an incredible amount of different ways you can make it, 2) It makes an awesome one-dish meal, and 3) It can last you all week. I feel like I make it too often, so lately I've been trying to avoid it. But it always seems to find me and taunt me, basically begging me to make it. I saw Jamie's website. Pear, Smoked Cheddar and Walnut Salad
2008-01-17 20:08:00 Lay seasonal salad leaves on a plate.Slice some smoked cheddar cheese and place on the leaves.Cut a pear into slices, core and halve each slice and soak in lemon juice to prevent browning. Place the slices over the salad.Scatter over a handful of roughly chopped walnuts.Mix lemon juice and olive oil in equal parts and drizzle over the salad.This is my entry for this month?s In the Bag event. 2008-01-17 03:29:00 Hard to believe that in spite of the amount of bread I bake every week, from simple baguettes to brioche or my now well known love affair with cinnamon rolls, I have not participated in one single Bread Baking Day event, created by Zorra. Something had to change! When Eva announced this month's theme, I knew I could not pass on it: shaped bread. I love messing with decoratively shaped breads such as Sunflower rolls, Dulce de Leche Rolls, Apricot Couronne and others. There is one that I love to make on an almost weekly basis: the Tea Ring. Over the past years, I have tried so many different recipes that I have come up with a basic dough that is light and soft yet sturdy enough to accommodate many different spices, nuts and fillings. This one has my beloved cardamom in the dough, as well as cinnamon and walnuts inside. The crumb is perfectly tight to hold it own dunked in coffee and yet soft enough to melt in your mouth.
