Dueling Views on Housing: Jim Rogers Sees More Pain to Come While Warren Bu
2008-05-12 17:28:00 When asked about their outlook for the crisis-ridden U.S. housing and financial-services markets, two U.S. financial experts provided outlooks that completely contradicted one another - once again underscoring how tough it is for investors to predict when the U.S. economy will turn around. Jim Rogers, a best-selling author who co-founded the famed Quantum Fund with George Soros back in 1970, told Bloomberg News Thursday that the global credit crisis caused by the subprime mortgage meltdown is nowhere near over. “I doubt that we?re half way through the financial crisis,” Rogers stated at a Barclays PLC (BCS) news conference Thursday in Singapore, where he…SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Dueling Views on Housing: Jim Rogers Sees More Pain to Come While Warren Buffett?s Housing Expert Sees Rebound Under Way", url: "http://jutiagroup.com/2008/05/-12/dueling-views-on-housing-jim--rogers-sees-more-pain-to-come--while-warren-buffett%e2%80%99s--housing-expert-sees-rebound-und-er-w...

Warren Buffet replaces Bill Gates as world's richest person
2008-03-06 05:19:00 US financier Warren Buffett has overtaken Bill Gates as the world's richest man, according to Forbes annual billionaire's list, which this year saw Russia, China and India making increasing inroads. Buffett, the 77-year-old chief of the Berkshire Hathaway holding company, saw his wealth jump from 52 billion dollars last year to 62 billion, pushing Microsoft co-founder Gates into third position after 13 years at the top. Mexico's telecom mogul Carlos Slim Helu grabbed second place with a tidy nest egg of 60 billion dollars, up from 49 billion last year. Buffett, who announced in 2006 he was giving the majority of his fortune to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, saw his wealth spike mostly due to the rising value of his Berkshire Hathaway stock. In total, this year's list sees 1,125 people around the world making the billionaire's list, up from 946 last year. Their total net worth stands at 4.4 trillion dollars, up from 3.5 trillion dollars in 2007. By na...

Warren Buffet on Housing
2008-03-04 02:19:00 Today on CNBC Warren Buffet held forth his thoughts on the government messing around with housing:LIESMAN: One of the most striking things in this poll is for the first time--we've done this for four quarters now--Americans now look for a decline in their home values. What's the significance of that from an economic point of view, Mr. Buffett?BUFFETT: Well, it has a huge effect because, you know, with 60 percent-plus of the American people being homeowners, as being a huge asset--and in many cases it's a leverage asset--it obviously is going to be on their mind big time. And I get the figures every month. We have a number of real estate brokerage operations around the country, and I get the--I get the figures from many markets on listings and sales, and I've seen something like Dade and Broward County go from 6,000 listings and 3600 sales a month to where they're now, I think, 82,000 listings and about 1500 sales a month. So unless there's some major intervention by the govern...

Warren Buffett Quotes I always knew I was going to be rich. I don't think I ever doubted it for a minute. Warren Buffett Quotes I am quite serious when I say that I do not believe there are, on the whole earth besides, so many intensified bores as in these United States. No man can form an adequate idea of the real meaning of the word, without coming here. Warren Buffett Quotes I buy expensive suits. They just look cheap on me.
Warren Buffet to the Rescue
2008-02-13 21:25:00 You have to admire Warren Buffett. He’s offered to relieve the ailing monoline bond insurers of their very best assets, leaving them with all the subprime rubbish that got them into trouble in the first place. It’s a viciously cut-throat offer to a group of crippled opponents, kicking them when they’re down and defenceless. He cheerfully admits ...

Warren Buffet Invest in Re Insurance Company…
2008-01-28 17:43:00 Some interesting news I read on Warren Buffet recently. Prehaps the direction favours the insurance industry? ————&md-ash;———&mdash-;———– “Warren Buffett has confounded analysts by again investing in the ailing insurance world. According to reports released earlier this week, Buffett snatched up 3% of Swiss Re, the world’s largest reinsurer, at an estimated value of 859 million Swiss francs, or approximately $783 million US (although terms of the deal were not disclosed). Berkshire Hathaway’s purchase of Swiss Re is interesting for another reason as well – it is a major competitor of General Re, another Berkshire Hathaway-owned company. Regardless, the move is further evidence that Buffett has managed to avoid being hit by the current credit crisis, and he is actually profiting from it.” Source Cocktail Investor
How to think like Warren Buffet
2008-01-28 16:11:00 Back in 1999, Robert G. Hagstrom wrote a book about the legendary investor Warren Buffett, entitled “The Warren Buffett Portfolio”. What’s so great about the book, and what makes it different from the countless other books and articles written about the “Oracle of Omaha” is that it offers the reader valuable insight into how Buffett actually thinks about investments. In other words, the book delves into the psychological mindset that has made Buffett so fabulously wealthy. Although investors could benefit from reading the entire book, we’ve selected a bite-sized sampling of the tips and suggestions regarding the investor mindset and ways that an investor can improve their stock selection that will help you get inside Buffett’s head. 1. Think of Stocks as a Business Many investors think of stocks and the stock market in general as nothing more than little pieces of paper being traded back and forth among investors, which might help prevent in...

Favorite Quotes from Warren Buffet
