It turns out that you can't do shit at banks when they can't read the fucking chip on the card. And when you want to open a new account at the bank, they need to be able to read the chip so that they can validate that you are who you are against the National Registration Department's (NRD) database. Ain't that a bitch? Well, went in, paid RM10, took a picture and came out within 30 minutes. The only problem is, both the NRD staff I spoke to with (sounds weird), told me two 2 different ETA on when I was able to pick up my new card.
