Water Cooler Moment: Gossip Girl
2008-05-20 16:58:00 Wow. What a pointless season finale. I did notice how they called it a season finale, when the fate of the network and it's show is steadily dying. And while they called it a season finale, they did wrap the loose ends that, if it were axed tomorrow, could be considered the series finale. Which brings me to my point: they set up the next season to be the world's most boring conception ever. Dan and Vanessa? Oooo. Nate and Serena? Been there. Blair being a bitch and Chuck being a man whore? Same old.The only redeeming moment of the show was when Blair and Dan worked together and got back at Georgina aka "Whore-gina". Now Georgina will be sent to a boot camp for naughty kids called...get this..."Penance". Oooo. Clever. Is Carrie Bradshaw a writer for this show? Blair has really sealed my love for her over the season as the Upper East Side's resident, self-appointed, "psycho bitch". If the show gets canceled, I demand Blair gets a spin off. Like every other episode, Serena maintains...
Water Cooler Moment: Brothers & Sisters
2008-05-12 21:20:00 Well the gay wedding finally happened. In a network TV first, Scotty and Kevin finally got hitched in a civil ceremony led by....republican sister, Kitty. Interesting choice. We all know she's cool with the lifestyle of the 'mo's, but it was kind of odd seeing a member of the "party of inclusion (if you're white and straight)" preside over a gay marriage.Rebecca finally got to fulfill her two year desire to get it on with her brother. Well...former brother. I haven't felt this awkward about sexual tension on a show since Step By Step when cousin Cody had a thing for Dana (aka The Danaburger). Well we all know they're going to date...and there's no real drama there, yet. Having just been kicked out of her home by her slutty mom, I have no doubt that her life with somewhat thrive under Nora's wing and aware from her mom's shadow.Which brings me to Holly. What. A. Cunt. It's basically stated that Holly knew that Rebecca wasn't the old Mr. Walker's illegitimate child. I comp...

Water Cooler Moment: Gossip Girl
2008-05-06 03:44:00 Well this was the episode we've all been waiting for: the dropping of "the gay bomb". I actually really liked tonight's episode and even the standard boring sub plots of the parental units couldn't bore me. We all knew Serena's brother was the gay one...it was kind of an anti-climactic bomb, but it was a nice twist that Jenny was un-wittingly playing Upper East Side Hag with a boy named "Asher". 'I'm glad the war between Blair and Jenny ended. Jenny had been snowballing towards being the most annoying, bratty, c*nt on television. I don't believe in hitting your kids, but if i had to listen to her whip out the world's tinniest violin and sing the world's saddest song with her harpy voice, I would've killed myself. This whole war had me siding with Blair and I've actually grown to like her character a lot. She's a lot more interesting and cut throat than the pouty-lipped, baby-talking Serena. Also, we finally see the confrontation between Serena and Georgina. For some reaso...
Water Cooler Moment: Gossip Girl
2008-04-22 18:16:00 OK...against my better judgment of promising never to watch the show again, I found myself sitting through last night's entire episode of post-writer's strike, Gossip Girl. I couldn't help it. I watch the CW11 a lot for the morning news and late night syndicated TV shows...so I'm subject to their incessant advertising for the show. Also, the popular OMG and the later banned OMFG viral promotion is everywhere on the blogs I read. So I cracked.First off...where the hell is the big gay announcement? Did I, along with the rest of the world, fall victim to clever gossip dropping just to boost a shows ratings? I have no doubt there will be a gay reveal, but the producers definitely wanted to string out the interest in the reveal a little longer. I have no doubt that it's Serena's gay-faced brother Eric...and I will bet ever further that the reveal happens as he tries to make a pass at Chuck...his new best friend/ likely future unrequited love interest.Jenny finally got bit in the as...
Water Cooler Moment: Brothers & Sisters
2008-04-21 17:15:00 "Kitty and Robert make a life altering decision when the Presidential race takes a dramatic turn. Meanwhile, the Walker siblings are shocked by Nora's reaction to a surprise proposal from Isaac, and Rebecca further investigates the identity of her father." [SOURCE]Well Brothers & Sisters is back. Finally. I missed having Sally Field in my life. Overall I enjoyed last night's return even though it was a tad predictable. I always have a problem when series try to write one of the main character's out of the story's setting. I didn't believe for a second that Rachel would move to France at the end of Friends. I didn't believe for a second that Carrie would stay in France for a couple weeks, and I didn't believe for a second they'd take Nora out of her California home and throw her in D.C. with a tired look Danny Glover. That being said, I know that Danny is happy to take a break from not getting cabs to stop for him and bitching about it, but his character Issac had as much pers...
How A Water Cooler Unit Will Benefit Your Health
2008-04-09 07:00:00 Throughout the UK water cooler units are installed in offices, hospitals, gyms and schools. Having drinking water readily available has become a necessity and one, which people take for, granted. There are, unfortunately, a high number of people who are grossly dehydrated and do not realise this until it is too late. Often, people forget ...

Water Cooler Moment: Brothers & Sisters
2007-12-04 17:38:00 "BROTHERS & SISTERS - "Holy Matrimony!," - A political scandal and a severe case of cold feet threaten Kitty and Robert's highly anticipated wedding day. Meanwhile, Isaac distracts Nora from her romance with Stan and Holly gets a surprise visit from an old friend , on "Brothers & Sisters," SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2 , on the ABC Television Network. ROB LOWE, STEVEN ANDERSON, CALISTA FLOCKHART" [Source]Well they actually went through with it. I actually bought into the previews that the wedding would possibly be canceled. I was wrong.Overall it was a good episode...but I can't say I give a crap about Robert's "Hero Conspiracy"....something about a helicopter..blah blah. Don't care. So the whole sub plot with Danny Glover coming in and shaking things up with Kitty and then Kitty confessing...and even Robert was like "I don't care..let's just get married". Move on.Nora had a relatively bit part in the episode...she spent most of it with guest stars Danny Glover or Chevy Chase, her hemp s...
Water Cooler Moment: Project Runway
2007-11-29 16:24:00 Wow. Last nights episode was a huge ol' sloppy mess, but we're actually getting into eliminations where you actually care about who's going to go. Out of all the seasons, this is the first official all men's line challenge. There have been a couple of episodes (I think) where they had to design clothes for one another (which would sometimes pit them with a male)...but this was the official all male challenge. "Gracing" the runway was ex-jock and Today Show correspondent Tiki Barber, who would wear the winners design on tv.I loved how, when they met Tiki...the only one who knew who he was, was the only hetero male on the show. All of the gays were just "I don't know who he is, but he's really good looking". I admit I would've been the same way too. I don't watch the Today Show and I'm not into "the sports". This was also the first episode where Jack mentions being HIV +....which led me to believe that this would also be the episode where he regretfully has to take himself ou...

Water Cooler Moment: Brothers & Sisters
2007-11-26 16:42:00 "Robert enlists the help of a musical icon (guest starring Lyle Lovett as himself) to fend off Kitty's bout with cold feet. Nora reconnects with a man from her past and Sarah has mixed emotions about agreeing to have dinner with a new business consultant.Meanwhile, Tommy is overwhelmed by guilt when Sarah and Lizzie return home, and Justin pursues a new romance with someone with questionable intentions." [Source]I think I watch too much tv. Everything is becoming way too predictable to me. I need a tv show to shock me...not run the same recycled typical story lines. Maybe I should start watching soap operas....the shit gets turned upside down on a regular basis....but it also takes about 2 weeks worth of episodes to progress the story 5 minutes. Anyway...I digress...Last night's episode was ok. Sarah annoyed the crap out of me in how she handles Rebecca. Yes, she kissed Joe...but it takes two to tango and Sarah kept pulling the bullshit card of "what? I'm not mad at you" lying cr...
Water Cooler Moment: Project Runway
2007-11-23 18:24:00 Overall I was really satisfied with the second episode of the season. The challenge was nothing terribly exciting...the standard "design an outfit in a team and it will be reproduced for a certain fashion company"....only this time it was for Sarah Jessica Parker's clothing line. I really liked Rami and Jillian's purple/magenta dress with the sick black belt. Kit and Chris's outfit was really....plain....I was kind of let down that Chris wasn't part of some gorgeous outfit...but also...SJP's line is supposed to be affordable..so I guess they did what they should've. Marion and Steven's outfit was hideous. It looked like they took a potato sack and put the model's head through a hole in the bottom. I once again, did not like Christian's outfit. The jacket was waaaay off the mark for me....and he needs to cut that east village lesbian haircut.I love the show and will continue to watch it...but it's become almost completely predictable in it's eliminations. Elisa on the chop...
Water Cooler Moment: Project Runway
2007-11-15 21:31:00 Soooo...last night was the long awaited season premiere of Project Runway and I ate up every little second of it. I missed Heidi and Tim...but above all...I missed Nina Garcia.Let me just say one thing. I am not a violent person....but given the chance, I would kick the crap out of Christian. The 21 year-old walking stereotype pisses me off just by looking at him. "Oh...whatever, I like went to London and studied with McQueen and Westwood...and I like...jerk off to the idea of me designing clothes causes I'm so much better than everyone else here". And his design? Hello 'crapped out Burberry reject'. I hated it. It made the girl look like a hideous birthday present. The East Village is full of his kind. The 'my shit don't stink' 20-something-year-olds who sip Amstel Lights and discuss Fiona Apple.....sorry.....just puts me in a rage.Anyway. My favorites of the season are Chris, whom I have nicknamed "Phatty". I love him. He designs clothes for drag queens....and since he's so...
Water Cooler Moment: Brothers & Sisters
2007-11-12 19:13:00 "36 Hours" - The Walker family pulls together for better or worse when Justin reaches a critical new low point with his addiction, while Kitty and Robert move toward their future together with a renewed perspective. So the big intervention happened last night. We all saw it coming from the episode where Nora shoved the pain killers in her addict son's face. I wouldn't put all the blame on her...it's a parents reaction to want to help their child in pain...but, as was demonstrated last night, Nora has spent too much time "baby-ing" Justin and as a result of the intervention she finally woke up to the fake that he needs to grow up.Kitty and Robert's story line is shaky to me. I'm not sure when he's going to tell Kitty he just promised his little girl that they wouldn't be trying for another baby in a really long time. Then Kitty wants to up the wedding date and start popping out babies (as we see for the next episode...in two weeks). I still say the relationship is doomed...even...
The Water Cooler: Brothers & Sisters
2007-10-22 17:34:00 "With Nora along for the ride, Kitty and Sarah's attempt at a spa escape quickly becomes an entangled mess. Meanwhile, Tommy crosses a dangerous line in search of companionship, Rebecca grows concerned with Justin's impossibly speedy recovery, and Kevin presses Saul to make a confession about his past." [source]Last night's episode was OK. I wouldn't say...enthralling, but I was glad when the writers decided to play on the "is Saul gay?" storyline a bit more. As far as that one goes, I get a feeling it's going to die out kind of soon and that Saul probably just experimented or something boring like that.Nora was getting on my nerves. I loves me some Sally, but when they were at the spa and she just wouldn't shut the fuck up in the 'quiet room' I wanted to smack her. I wanted to smack all three of the women when they were at the spa. I really wish Sarah had slept with that dude she picked up at the wedding....and I did love that they crashed a wedding for free booze and food....
The Water Cooler: Brothers & Sisters
2007-10-08 16:22:00 "While Kevin, Kitty and Nora take a road trip to pick up Justin, Kitty balances personal and political issues with her future husband. Meanwhile, Tommy can't seem to get fatherhood right, and the truth finally comes out between Sarah and Rebecca." [source]Last night's episode was good....not great...but good. Like I called it, they didn't kill off Justin and all those previews of a funeral scene were merely a soldier's funeral attended by Kitty and Senator McCallister. I gotta say, after last night's ep, that McCallister (Lowe) is starting to grow on me....took a while...but I liked his speech on the conservative radio show, cheesy as it might have been, I felt it rang true, about what America is looking for in a president.I love that Rebecca's friend totally wanted to set Saul up with a dude and Saul openly admitted to not being gay. I'm not sure I believe him yet....I want to see what's the story with him and 'The O.C.'s' Doc Roberts. I smell a separation in Tommy's fu...

The Water Cooler: Brothers & Sisters
2007-10-01 16:53:00 So, who all saw last night's episode of Brothers & Sisters?"A year after losing their larger than life family patriarch and three weeks since hearing from Justin in the Middle East, the Walker family struggle to find cheer in celebrating Kitty's birthday.Sarah fights to salvage what's left of her failing marriage; Kevin learns the hard way about the sacrifices that true love brings; Tommy is at a loss as to how to provide the emotional support needed by his overwhelmed wife, Julia, after the death of their newborn son, while Kitty gets a first hand look at the challenges of being engaged to a U.S. senator (Rob Lowe as Senator Robert McCallister).Meanwhile, Saul questions his identity after a visit from an old friend, and the family's newest member, Rebecca, tries desperately to find her place in this very complex family puzzle."First of all, I would like to say that I don't think they'll kill Justin off. Even with the preview for next week (a military funeral and Nora getting ...
Business Tips: Have A Water Cooler In The Office
2007-09-11 21:05:00 Ever visited an office, like the doctor of dentist, and was thirsty but there was no water to drink anywhere? Been there, done that. This situation can be quite uncomfortable for the person who needs the water. I think it is only common courtesy for offices to have water coolers, even if not for visitors but at least for the staff. From a logical point of view, having one would save time as employees would not have to go across the road or down to the canteen to buy water. They would simply go over to the cooler in the hallway or wherever it is placed, pull out a cup, fill it with water, and drink. Then back to their desks in seconds.Visitors to an office should be as comfortable as possible. This will make them want to return at a later date. Just think about it. If your business place or office does not have a water cooler, even a simple one, you may just be losing customers and don't even realize it. They will more readily go where they know that they can be refreshed. You do no...

The Web 2.0 Water Cooler
2007-06-22 08:33:00 Xerox Parc, Microsoft, Apple, Google - are not only tech pioneers but renowned incubators of talented business builders... Zillow's founders can trace their genetics back to Microsoft via Expedia. On a macro level, the "best and brightest" (an idiom I try to avoid using) have tended to congregate together in close proximity - creative film makers in LA, deal makers on Wall Street, VCs on Sand Hill Road. On a micro level, congregation once happened exclusively on a physical level - inside office buildings, on golf courses and at tradeshows. Today's social networking tools add a third dimension... face to face remains important but the initiation of introduction can be made online in various ways. MySpace, Linkedin, Facebook, Active Rain, blogs - all disclose enough information about an individual and their networks to warrant a "warm, receptive" cold call or referral. I myself always feel honored to get a cold call... it should be a commonplace occurrence. The new "virtual" netwo...

2007-03-01 17:05:01 The Fish dropped a tough one today against the Cardinals up in Roger Dean. Again, let me remind everyone how excited I am for baseball season. REAL EXCITED! Let’s take a look what we missed today at the water cooler… Marlins left-handed reliever Taylor Tankersley has tendinitis in his throwing shoulder and said he does not expect to be ready for the start of the regular season April 2. Tankersley, who was considered a candidate to serve as the team’s closer, had an MRI performed Monday and had the shoulder re-examined Wednesday. He said tests revealed no structural damage. The Dolphins are expected to re-sign safety Yeremiah Bell, receiver Wes Welker, punter Donnie Jones, and quarterback Cleo Lemon. Bell, the team’s starting strong safety under Nick Saban, is the only unrestricted free agent here. Miami will certainly need to tender Welker at higher than the minimum level to prevent teams from trying to sign him. The Dolphins have reportedly informed...

2007-02-28 05:03:01 SporTech was on fire today. Lots of good juice going around the South Florida Sports scene. The most important bit of info wasn’t divulged today, Dwyane Wade’s decision. Ira Winderman reported in his Sun-Sentinel column today that Wade is scheduled to join the team today in Washington for its visit to the White House to commemorate its 2006 NBA championship. The fourth-year guard then will return to South Florida, where Riley said Wade is scheduled to receive a second opinion Wednesday on the injury suffered Feb. 21 in Houston. So basically be patient, and we should receive word by Wednesday night at the earliest. Let’s check out the water cooler… Heat forward Wayne Simien has been cleared for physical activity again after suffering a setback with his salmonella infection. The second-year pro worked out at Madison Square Garden before Monday’s game. Kevin Carter will be released by the end of the week if he doesn’t restructure his contra...

Matter Around the Water Cooler
2007-02-27 11:01:01 Picture Courtesy of DDOI Still no word out of Heat camp on Dwyane Wade’s decision regarding whether or not he is going to rehab for 4-6 weeks or shut things down for the season and get surgery. We should find out in the next day or so. One thing I was thinking about is whether or not he is basing his decision on how the Heat perform in this upcoming week. One would think he wouldn’t waste his time and possibly career to help a mediocre team barely make the playoffs. Wait it out a week, see what the Heat’s status in the standings is and if we have the opportunity to make a push like last year, rehab like a madman and get back for the playoffs. The fact Wade needs a second opinion has me thinking something rather serious is wrong and season ending surgery will be necessary. He has a much brighter future beyond this season and might choose to take care of himself before the team. Might sound selfish, but not when you have your whole career ahead of you. Let...

Matter Around the Water Cooler
2007-02-25 22:59:01 Picture courtesy of DDOI Sorry for the slow day guys. Work is a priority and it just happened to work out that it was a very slow day in the world of South Florida sports. Hope you enjoyed the good old fashioned hockey brawl courtesy of HockeyFights.com. We are still awaiting a decision on Dwyane Wade. According to the Herald it could take a couple of days before Wade decides on whether to go with immediate surgery, which would end his season, or a six-week rehabilitation period and a possible return in time for the playoffs. In my opinion it would be smart for Wade to shut it down for the season to allow his shoulder to heal in the offseason and be ready to go next year. As you stroll out of the office today, take a stop by the half empty water cooler and chat with some friends. Here is what you missed while grabbing the morning paper in the snow… The Dolphins are expected to release G/C Seth McKinney. This according to the Miami Herald; the Palm Beach Post says McK...
