There Is A Bad Reading But The System Should Be Mature
2011-06-01 16:46:00 Relating to marine aquariums what is meant by ?mature?? It means that the aquarium system is ready to support life. In fact there are two levels of maturity: the first is the initial level which is achieved after the system has been set up and the biological filter (some call it life support) has been activated. The second is when the system is truly mature, this is when the livestock is present in entirety and the biological filter has fully settled down to the task it faces, this could take many months. The first level could take many days to weeks. Water Quality And Pollution - The Raison D'etre For Wastewater Treatment
2008-04-26 17:20:00 Water as a chemical:Pure water is a compound of hydrogen and oxygen. It is colorless, odorless and tasteless. It exists as liquid at ambient temperature.Water - what it contains:Water has both living and non-living organisms and substances in it. The living organisms can be further subdivided into macro- and micro- organisms. Macro organisms, which are biological, are those that are visible to the naked eye or can be seen through a microscope. In contrast, microbiological micro-organisms are not visible even through a microscope.Water quality criteria:The quality of water is a function of several factors. These include its source, location, geological conditions, depth of water level, seasonal changes, domestic activity, agricultural activity, industrial activity, etc.Excessive exploitation of natural resources and the use of technological advances with no concern for the ecology adversely affect air, water and land, alike. The substances present in water can be classified as floating...

WATER QUALITY 3
2007-12-03 13:25:00 PHThe PH source waters used for irrigation are normally within a range of 6.5 to 8.5, and seldom present a problem in and of it. However, since PH plays a major role in a variety of chemical reactions in the water and in the soil, it is an important factor to be considered. The pH of the source water may determine whether or not various dissolved solids present in the water, such as iron or calcium carbonate, will precipitate out to cause emitter clogging. The water PH may help or hinder the action of chlorine used to control of biological growth, and it may play a role in the availability of various soil nutrients.CALCIUMCalcium (Ca) id found to some extent in all natural waters. A predominantly saturated with calcium is friable and easily worked, usually permits water to penetrate easily and does not puddle or run together when wet. For this reason calcium, in the form of gypsum, is often applied to “tight” soils to improve their physical properties. Generally, irrigation wate...
WATER QUALITY 2
2007-12-02 12:41:00 Interpretation of water quality analysisSuspended solids in the water supply include soil particles ranging in size from coarse to fine clays, living organism including algae and bacteria, and a wide variety of miscellaneous waterborne matter, suspended solids loads will often vary considerably from day to day and season to season, particularly when the water source is a river, lake, or reservoir. Since suspended solids above a certain size must be filteredout of the water prior to its entering the system, it is a good idea to obtain a reliable estimate of the total quantity of material to be removed.SALANITYPlant roots take up water from the soil primarily as a result of osmotic pressure, which exists because plant cells contain a higher concentration of dissolved salts than is present in the soil water. This difference in salt concentration forces water to move from the area of lower to higher salt concentration, though the semi-permeable cell walls of the plant, in a process call...

2007-12-02 12:38:00 Taking a water sample for analysisThe preliminary study for micro-irrigation system will require a careful analysis of the source of water. A micro-irrigation system requires good quality water free of all but the finest suspended solids and free of those dissolved solids, such as iron, which may precipitate out and cause problems in the system. Neglecting to analyze the quality of water source and provide adequate treatment is one of the most common reasons for the failure of micro-irrigation system to function properly. It is important that a representative water sample be taken. If the source is a well, the sample should be collected after the pump has run for half an hour or so. For a tap on a domestic supply line, the supply should be run for several minutes before taking the sample. When collecting samples from a surface water source such as a ditch, river or reservoir, the sample should be taken near the center and below the water surface. Where surface water sources are subje...
DIY Hang-On Aquarium Filtration To Assist Water Quality
2007-09-15 22:59:00 Water quality is at the top of reef aquarium requirements, and also important for fish only aquariums. In any text, emphasis is always given to the need for excellent water parameters. Aquarists take care to ensure that this quality is as high as it can be and the level is maintained. At the same time one of the fears of the marine aquarist is the appearance of algae. Certain algae are welcome, they enhance the appearance of the reef considerably. Others are certainly not welcome, such as green hair algae, or dark algae creeping over rocks and sand suffocating life if allowed to continue.

Four popular bathing spots fail water quality tests!
2007-05-12 13:35:00 Four of the Ireland?s leading bathing spots have failed to meet the minimum EU standards for water quality, with high levels of faecal coliforms detected by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tests. Swimming areas at Balbrigan and Malahide in Fingal, north Dublin, Clifden, Co Galway and Dunmore East Main Strand, Co Waterford, all failed the minimum cleanliness standards, with Clifden failing for the second year in a row. The presence of the faecal coliforms at the four sites indicated that inadequately treated (or worst, not treated at all!) was spilling into the bathing areas.Overall water quality levels were high with 127 out 131 sites tested reaching the required EU standards.

Flow Switch and Cooling Water Quality
2006-11-26 21:15:03 Cooling water services cooling needs for a compressor. Cooling water keeps cylinder temperature, discharge gas temperature at an allowable temperature ranges. In a recriprocal compressor, cooling water flow is controlled by a flow switch. Flow switch sets up minimum cooling water flow for the compressor. Flow switch will work if required minimum cooling water flow rate is not supplied, and stop the compressor operation in order to prevent the compressor from mechanical failure. Keeping cooling water quality becomes an important factor. Sludge, slime, dirt and other foreign matters come into cooling water during plant operation and accumulate in piping line. For a small pipe size such as 1/2 or 3/4 inch, such contamination may reduced cooling water flow high enough. If cooling water quality goes bad, discharge temperature of gas will build up day by day. Another visual indication that show bad quality of cooling water is sight glass that attached to cooling water line. Slime growth ... |
