2008-02-04 12:34:00 Last winter, I went to Alaska at the last minute. Upon landing, I looked out my plane window and thought, "gee, snow. Guess I should have brought my coat." This same thing happened to me once when I went to Chicago. Weather bores the hell out of me, particularly weather in a place where I am not. Today, I realized China's weather problems are more than local. China's snowy weather is already impacting China business and prices and the longer it continues, the greater the impact. When China gets a cold, the whole world sneezes. Managing the Dragon has two excellent posts up explaining the impact of China's snow. The first is entitled, "Extreme Weather Affecting Operations in China," and it describes how China's weather is slowing factory production: Highway, rail and air service are being impacted, with shipments of coal, fuel and other raw materials to power plants and manufacturing plants being seriously delayed. CHIEF FEATURES (Based on 0830 hours IST observations) A western disturbance as an upper air system is likely to affect northwest & adjoining central India from tomorrow night onwards. Under its influence, the following weather events are likely to occur: Light to moderate snowfall at many places over Western Himalayan region from the night of 2nd to 6th. Isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over the northern plains from 2nd night to 4th morning. Rise in night temperatures by 4-5° C from 2nd onwards over plains of northwest & central India and Maharashtra leading to abatement of prevailing cold wave conditions. 2007-11-05 22:14:00 Friday evening on the news, they announced a flash flood warning for the entire state through late Tuesday night. We haven't had that much "weather" in Kona, but it poured on Sunday. Apparently they had real rain troubles on Oahu. It's gorgeous today so far, but I won't be surprised if we see a few more downpours later today or tomorrow.I've been working on the boat getting it ready for charter. I just have to finish the main cabin door and hang it, along with a few other little things. Tomorrow we start chartering again. So far I have charters lined up for Tuesday, Wednesday evening, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. November in the past has typically been my slowest month, so it's not looking too bad from here on.Here's a couple of shots of the cockpit of the boat. Joe Zawinul, Weather Report founder, dies at 75
2007-09-11 16:21:00 Joe Zawinul, legendary jazz keyboardist, founder of pioneering fusion band Weather Report, and composer of one of my all time favorite tunes (Birdland) died today in an Austrian hospital. He was 75. During his career, Zawinul played on a number of seminal recordings, including the Miles Davis classics In A Silent Way and Bitches Brew.His last performing band was the Zawinul Syndicate, with whom he had been on tour this year in Europe before seeking treatment for an undisclosed medical condition.

Dom Um Romao seems to be the main performing using several weird instruments, including a tamanco or clog in English, which is a type of shoe or sandal made out of wood. This is probably the most stunning color phase. Older adults will develop a more greenish-turquoise hue.
