Come To Understand (An Inspirational Poem To Begin The Week)
2008-07-07 16:08:00
Author unknownLife grows brighter when you come to understand. Live with a love and thankfulness for life, and your understanding of it will become more valuable.Come to understand that the other people in your world have perspectives, purposes and priorities that are different than yours. It will save you from a lot of needless frustration and anger.Come to understand that loss is a part of life. And you always have every reason and ability to heal.Come to understand that giving and receiving are always inseparable. The level of abundance you experience is equal to the value and goodness flowing out from you.Come to understand that sometimes the most powerful response is patience. There are many battles you do not really need to fight.Come to understand that whatever may have been or wherever you may find yourself, you always have a choice. Choose to live each moment with positive purpose, and you will truly come to understand.Related PostsMotivation Boost To Keep You Strong-It Wil...

Islam In Europe Week In Review
2008-07-06 12:56:00
Visit Islam In Europe for the full stories. Here are the highlights.* Tahira Bibi, a Danish-Pakistani woman living in Pakistan, was shot dead by her brother in law. The woman's family accuses the husband, who lives in Denmark, of instigating the murder. A close friend, however, says the couple had a good relationship and spoke several times a day. She also says Tahira kept up with Danish news on the net The police in Pakistan concur and say that they don't believe the brother in law's 'excuse' of honor murder. They would like to interrogate the father, but he is currently not planning to travel there. Tahira had taken her two daughters to Pakistan in order to get to know their family there. They will now be returned to the father. (see more here in Danish: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)Danish right-wingers as well as the Muslim Council of Denmark want the government to research the problem of 'honor' murders and see what can be done.'Honor' murders were discusses extensively on the n...

I have some food things I want to share this week, but life, as usual, is a bit crazy here.Today is my Ian's birthday, he is 4! He shares his birthday with my grandma, she would have been 100 today. We'll celebrate for her with extra cake. His cake and a snippet of him with his favorite gift are HERE.*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*I lost a step-brother on Sunday evening. He lost his fight with leukemia at 51 years old. His wife and two young-adult daughters are devastated as is my step-father. White Sox Jermaine Dye Named Player of the Week
2008-06-24 20:29:00
A veteran of 13 big league seasons, Jermaine Dye has seen it all. That's why the White Sox slugger is not at all surprised by the way he's been swinging the bat lately. During last week's Interleague Play, Dye terrorized National League pitchers by hitting .417 (10-for-24) while launching five home runs and 13 RBIs. The 34-year-old right fielder, who also clubbed three doubles and scored 10 runs

This weeks choice is again a hard choice. This week my decision is between "Ice Road Truckers on & off the ice, Futurama beast with a million backs, and Chris Angels's Mind Freak" Best of Season 1 & 2. This weeks choice in my opinion is "Ice Road Truckers". This show is amazing, and still going unlike another show thanks to FOX. Season 2 of Ice Road Truckers is already airing, but you can still pick up season 1, and the new DVD.

Sf Chronicle Losing $1 Million A Week - Newspapers In Trouble
2008-06-23 08:28:00
According to today's NY Times, the newspaper industry is in trouble, as papers suffer from competition from the Internet. The SF Chron has been losing $1 million a week since last year. As Time O'Reily wrote last year, he reads the online version of the SF Chron 95 percent of the time, and the "offline" version about 5 percent of the time. That's probably true for me, as well, but Tim and I are both in the Internet business. What can be done? Well, my answer is "nothing" -- the offline news people have to adjust to this New Media world, as do institutions and PR people who have been oriented toward using offline newspapers to get the news out. This also includes sports leagues like the NFL, which has a long standing relationship with such organizations as The Associated Press, but not the Huffington Post, which draws 14 million visitors a month. The SF Chron seems to be trying to find its way on The Internet, where it gets about 5 million visitors per month. That's still f...

This weeks choice is hard. I had to make a choice on a show that I like that is coming back for another season. My second choice would be "Jericho" Season 2 if the show wasn't killed by the network. So this weeks choice is Showtime's "Californication" season one. This show is freaking sweet on so many levels. I can't wait for season 2 to start. If you haven't seen season one go out Tuesday, and get caught up with the first season.

Bad start to the week: Penampang floods for second time in 3 days
2008-06-10 16:49:00
Oh no, not again! Talk about Monday blues and the the amazing speed at which Penampang gets flooded these days. I was at the office when my son called around 4pm saying water from the river has reached downstairs. Never mind I thought - relatively, it’s usually a mere puddle the 2nd time. How wrong I was. When I finally left the office at 5.20pm after receiving a frantic phonecall from the wife a few minutes earlier saying the flood has returned, it was already raining … you guessed it right … cats and dogs. It was a big mistake leaving the office at that time - I should left the office much earlier - it took me 90 minutes to reach my wife’s office on the other side of the city, where it should’ve taken 30 minutes at most, and during the best of times, less than 10 minutes. Another tip is to switch on the radio to the local channel - they usually give updates on flood situations - I was in front of Sutera Harbour when the police went on the radio sayi...

Jokes of the week with my funny and beautiful picture 2008
2008-06-09 17:28:00
Jokes of the week with my funny and beautiful picture 2008 An 80 year old couple were having problems remembering things, so they decided to go to their doctor to get checked out to make sure nothing was wrong with them. When they arrived at the doctors, they explained to the doctor about the problems they were having with their memory. After checking the couple out, the doctor told them that they were physically okay but might want to start writing things down and make notes to help them remember things. The couple thanked the doctor and left. Later that night while watching TV, the man got up from his chair and his wife asked, Where are you going? He replied, To the kitchen. She asked, Will you get me a bowl of ice cream? He replied, Sure. She then asked him, Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it? He said, No, I can remember that. She then said, Well I would also like some strawberries on top. You had better write that down because I...

Strategic Spot Starting - Week Edition
2008-06-09 11:26:00
We had some good picks last week and some not so good, but we are still performing better than chance. Looking ahead through Thursday? Monday: Mike Mussina against KC and Jesse Litsch against Seattle are both good matchups. Litsch actually has pretty poor career numbers against the team but I'm writing the 8+ ERA off as small sample size.Tuesday: Greg Maddux against the Dodgers is a solid spot start. He has a sub-3.00 ERA against the team and shut them out earlier this season. Aaron Cook against San Francisco would be better if it weren't at Colorado, and for that reason doesn't warrant the pick up. Tim Redding dominated the Pirates in their last meeting and is a solid option in deeper leagues despite his recent struggles. Millwood, like Cook, looks to have a good matchup but the career numbers against Kansas City suggest otherwise. I would start Eveland against New York, but I'm not sure I'd pick him up to do it.Wednesday: Jimenez also faces SF at home, but he shut them out in...

Best Dressed Of The Week - Victoria Beckham
2008-06-08 18:29:00
I did adore this heart-shaped chiffon one-shouldered Marc Jacobs Resort 2009 dress Victoria Beckham wore to the CFDA Awards this week. Even that back was incredibly cute. For someone as stylist as Victoria, this was the first time I liked what she wore on the red carpet. As usual Victoria's off the red carpet attire was chic and sophisticated.I love her two tiered grey skirt - and yes that is yet another new Birkin - which she wore to lunch with her gorgeous husband. When Victoria step out for her meeting at Conde Nast, everything, excluding the Alexander McQueen shoes and the Hermes Lydie, is Prada. I guess she was hoping to bump into Anna Wintour in reception, so they could wax lyrical about their love for the brand.Sourcehttp://www.redcarpe-t-fashionawards.com/feeds/posts-/default?alt=rss
