Wendy Alexander should GO ?now.
2008-02-04 12:42:00
Wendy Alexander, the dead duck leader of the opposition Labour Party in Scotland, said she wouldn’t quit her post following reports that prosecutors are looking into evidence she failed to disclose donations to her office. More than a dead duck she looks like a dead frog run over by a 18Tons lorry and now on ...
Breaking wind with dignity V breaking the law without shame.

I found a story today that sums up the way I was left feeling after watching yesterday's debate on party political funding:77-year-old Maurice Fox received a letter from Kirkham Street Sports and Social Club in Paignton, complaining about him breaking wind loudly in the public bar. Maurice may be a man of with a bad habit, but he is a man with a sense of decency. When Maurice received the letter did he complain? no. This is what Maurice said: "I am happy to oblige them, there is no problem. I do get a bit windy - I am an old fart now. "I think someone has complained about the noise. I am a loud farter, but there is no smell. "I do not think it [the letter] is unreasonable, you get ladies in there." Maurice now goes outside to fart.Compare this to the Labour party's behaviour at the commons debate for political party funding yesterday: If certain members of the cabinet had received a letter complaining about their party breaking wind in the bar, this would have been Labour's reply...
Wendy Alexander once again refuses to resign.

Talking to the media just before going into a meeting with Labour MSPs Wendy Alexander once again defied calls for her resignation. Wendy said: "I have never sought to mislead. I am not dishonest in any way and I have always believed that politicians should have the highest standards of integrity. "My campaign did not set out to intentionally mislead or brake the rules (LAW). Mistakes have been made. "It would be easy to quit, but also wrong. To give up this job in these circumstances would be also to give up my reputation for integrity and honesty and I am not prepared to do that." I think that Wendy has given up her "reputation for integrity and honesty" by not resigning.
Labour MSP Charlie Gordon resigns over dodgy donation.
2007-11-29 16:13:00
A donation for £950 accepted Wendy Alexander's campaign team for the Scottish Labour leadership broke the law by accepting money from a Jersey-based businessman. A cheque for £950 was accepted from developer Paul Green. The MSP who sought the donation, Charlie Gordon, has quit as Labour's transport spokesman at Holyrood. The matter has been reported the Electoral Commission.Mr Gordon said: "I asked for a donation from Mr Green, and he asked me to ensure that it was in line with the rules. "I handed the donation on to the campaign team and conveyed to them that it was a donation under the auspices of Combined Property Services and that Mr Green had a controlling interest in the company. "Unfortunately I was wrong in both these assumptions. "I acted in good faith and I deeply regret the fact that this has happened and that Wendy Alexander has been in any way been implicated."Whoops.
Wendy Alexander MSP - Keep the money coming England

Councillor Tony Sharp, of the Waendel Journal has posted an excellent article on his blog entitled: Scots Labour leader tells English to pay up and shut up. Tony highlights some of the imbalance in the way our taxes are distributed across the UK. Please pop over the Waendel Journal it is well worth a visit.I left the following comment on the post:How much wailing and screaming would we hear if the boot was on the other foot?. We'd be hearing cries off "England?s poor cousins" and "Second class citizens." I still cannot believe that MPs of a different country's parliament can vote in ours. No other country in the world would put up with this. A recent survey showed that cancer survival rates in Wales are now higher than those in England. The reason is that the NHS in Wales is better funded than in England, and Welsh patients have access to drugs denied to the English. What the hell is going on?
