NINO BROWN AKA WESLEY SNIPES CATCHES A BREAK!!! (FOR NOW)
2008-05-23 06:13:00
Punk Ass just got a get out of jail free card well at least for now. Wesley Snipes gets to have a little more fun in the sun after all. A day after a court ordered him to surrender by June 3 to begin serving a three-year prison sentence for failing to file income tax returns, the actor was begrudgingly granted bail that will keep him a free man until his pending appeal is settled. U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges wrote in his decision he was "dubious" of the merit of Snipes' appeal, but that the Blade star could end up serving his entire sentence before the next chapter of this saga is addressed. In arguing for bail, Snipes' attorneys wrote their client is already "actively engaged in resolving his liabilities with the IRS civilly." When they showed up for court on the day of his sentencing, Snipe's legal team brought $5 million worth of checks to give to IRS agents on the scene. Like I said before If I have to pay taxes so does BLADE...(TO BE CONTINUED) **********...

Wesley Snipes Gets 3 Years In JailActor off to pokey for tax evasion Wesley Snipes has been sentenced to three years jail time. The actor, who was once firmly in the Hollywood A-list, was given the maximum sentence for charges related to unpaid taxes. He was previously acquitted of more serious charges of tax fraud which could have landed him in prison for a much longer term.Snipes was found to have avoided paying some $15 million in tax over several years and indulged in frivolous and threatening correspondence with the Internal Revenue Service. His two tax advisers Eddie Ray Kahn (who already has convictions for tax crimes) and Douglas Rosile were also jailed for 10 years and 54 months respectively. So, let this be a lesson to you. Fill in your tax forms, no matter how confusing they may be. And take previous tax convictions as a sign that your tax adviser might not be the best in his field.Source: EmpireOnline

Wesley Snipes Sentenced To Three Years For Tax Evasion
2008-04-26 01:11:00
3 years. That?s the number of years that Wesley Snipes will be sent to prison for not paying his taxes. This is another example that lends credibility to the truism that one cannot escape death and taxes, unless you live in the Philippines. If my memory serves me right, tax evasion was also Al Capone?s downfall. But the question really is-- why the heck am I talking about Wesley Snipes in this blog? The obvious reason (though I will never own up to it) is that this is going to be fodder for search engines in the next few days or weeks and I?ll be damned if I?m going to let this opportunity pass by without me getting a piece of the action. Let?s see if I do get my hands dirty on this one.My official pronouncement however as to why I am including Wesley Snipes? sorry fate in this space is to warn those folks who are earning a lot from blogging that if you are not careful, you may be sharing Wesley Snipes' fate. Whatever you earn from blogging will always be covered by your own country...

Wow. This is shocking. Nicholas Cage, take heed! After battling the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for years, Wesley Snipes was given the maximum sentence yesterday by US Federal Judge William Terell Hodges for willfully failing to file tax returns: he was given three years in prison. Had he been found guilty of the other counts that were pending against him - felony tax fraud and conspiracy - he could have gotten up to 13 additional years in the pen. The AP reports that hours before his sentencing, Snipes wrote three checks to the feds for $5 million, but it was too little, too late.

2008-04-25 15:45:00
Wesley Snipes has been sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion. The actor was given the maximum sentence after prosecutors described him as a ?truly notorious offender."He was acquitted of fraud in February but convicted on three misdemeanour counts of willfully failing to file federal tax returns from 1999 to 2001. Prosecutors said he had escaped paying more than $15 million in income tax to the IRS since 1999.His lawyers read out character references from family members and friends, including actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington. Snipes also surprised the court by handing over more than $5 million in cheques, which prosecutors branded a "grandstanding move".His attorneys recommended that he be given probation, saying he was not a dangerous man and had led an otherwise "lawful life".However, US District Judge William Terrell Hodges accused Snipes of exhibiting a "history of contempt over a period of time" for US laws. Snipes told the judge, "I am very sorry for my...

Wesley Snipes Sentenced to Three Years in Jail
2008-04-25 08:42:00
Actor Wesley Snipes was sentenced Thursday to three years in jail for tax fraud, CNN reported. Snipes was charged with failing to file taxes for six years, but the jury only found evidence for a three-year period. The total sum earned in that period was $13 million. Snipes' non-payment of taxes was a protest against taxes, based on his belief that the Internal Revenue Service was not a properly established government agency, ABC news reported. Snipes was convicted in February on three misdemeanor counts of wilfully failing to file federal tax returns for 1999-2001. Each count carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison. He was acquitted on two felony charges of filing false claims and fraud in seeking millions of dollars of refunds in other tax years.
