What In The World???
2009-01-02 02:42:00
I was pretty excited to hear that the family pet, Zeus, would have a fellow friend once more. My dad told me that Desmond was successful in finding a newborn female puppy (I forgot the type of breed).Well... I called home last night just to find out how things were going...Let's just say things didn't go too well. The moment the puppy (it was only 2 months old) was brought home and placed on the floor, Zeus attacked her. Needless to say, my Dad and brother were shocked. The puppy ended up staying in the house for 2 days (which included several tries to get Zeus to be nice)... Zeus just didn't want to be friends and keeps on attacking her (or tried to) whenever she was within reach.Eventually, it was decided that they couldn't keep her.Sigh... What else is there to say? Zeus no baka!!!

What In The World Is Forex Training?
2008-05-04 11:17:00
Forex trading is an abbreviation for Foreign Exchange Trading. At times, it is also known as “FX” however that particular nickname frequently gets people confused, because FX is also shorthand for “special effects”. It is also the name of a cable channel. With the introduction of the Internet Forex trading has exploded in popularity. You would be unable to do forex trading without Internet access. What Is an Over-The-Counter Market? One of the benefits of educating yourself in Forex training that you do not have to do it through a broker. You have the ability to accomplish this yourself via the almighty Internet. Because of this reason, professional stockbrokers as well as the business press frequently refer to any stock play that you can accomplish yourself as “over-the-counter markets”, or OTC markets. This is a not so subtle tongue in cheek type of nickname as a comparison of Forex to over-the-counter medication in place of the frequently more...

What In The World Does It Mean?
2008-03-08 00:44:00
Hello all! Today’s phrase is Consumer Culture! While this may be true of advertising and society, it is also relevant to film studies. Here’s why: This refers to the society in which consumption of goods is the major theme. In this idea, culture is commodified as an object of trade. Entrepreneurs bank on low self-esteem and make products which are associated with social dimensions such as relationships, socio-economic status and identity. In film and television, we can relate this to how television is advertising and every program is filled with ads (be it product placement, or during commercial breaks). Television becomes a vehicle for mass consumption, each show being targeted to a specific audience, such as talk shows geared towards the female, and then advertising products related to them such as hygiene-related, food-related products: products for the household. In the article, “Answering Advertisers’ Prayers,” the author Cashmore talks about how television au...

I apologize for having taken so long for this post. I’ve been tied up with university stuff. On the plus side, here’s an interesting topic: Persistence of vision. What In The World? Albert Pujols Injury Talks Grow

Say it ain’t so… Let me first preface this blog post by saying that neither the St. Louis Cardinals nor Albert Pujols himself have verified these rumors. I’m doing my best right now to get a definite answer, but any fantasy GM who is going into a draft soon with an early to middle pick in ...

Former child star Gary Coleman ? who's now 40 ? married Shannon Price, whom he'd met on a movie set, last Aug. 28, her 22nd birthday, Coleman reveals to Inside Edition. The onetime Diff'rent Strokes star also admits that this is his first-time-ever romantic relationship."I never got the opportunity to be romantic or feel romantic with anyone," he says. "I wasn't saving myself, she just happened to be the one."The couple's nuptials happened, "on a mountaintop," according to Coleman. "Nobody was around but the minister, preacher, the videographers, the photographer, the helicopter pilot and us. That was all that was there. There was nobody else.?SOURCEWOW! This is a doozy right here. No comment.

What in the World Happened to Pink???
2008-01-18 15:46:00
I'm sitting here looking at this photo of Pink and I really can't believe what I'm seeing. I mean, really, I'm having a major case of deja-vu here. I keep repeating to myself "this is a multi-million dollar singer, this is one of the world's top pop performers" and yet all I manage to see is someone who looks just like my middle-age primary school teacher on her way home after attending her grandma's funeral. I'm not sure if it's the short dark hair, the fringe, the haircut, the clothes or the overall attitude – but this photo leaves me sad and slightly worried. What in the world happened to the flamboyant, energetic woman we used to know? What happened to her smile, her eyes, her positive and catching optimism? I mean yes, of course I understand she may have been having a bad day, or maybe she was simply tired, but still – something's not right, and my instinct tells me we'll be hearing about it soon enough. The fact is, we all know the artist hasn't been having the b...

What In the World Is With the Spears Family?
2008-01-05 03:54:00
Well, I am going to step away from the world of baseball and delve into entertainment. Can someone explain to me in a simple fashion what the hell is going on the Spears family? You have a 16-year old girl pregnant, and yes, the train-wreck known as Britney. You can't escape the coverage of TV, the net and wherever else.Is it the money, fame, lack of supervision, no perspective, or having it all too fast? Where are the parents in all of this? Are they being role models or chasing after the bucks and the bright lights of the big city.I usually think all the celebrities are jokers and self-absorbed; however, is there someone who thinks enough of these people to get in the way to stop these girls from destroying their lives? Honestly, if things don't get better, Britney may end up as a statistic, whether it be from suicide or drug overdose.I usually don't care for multi-millionaires whose stupid decisions get themselves into trouble, but I think the family Spears is in dire straits.
What in the World is Blogging?
2007-12-02 20:10:00
I’ve been blogging now for a little less than a year. When I try to explain blogging to my clients, family members and friends, their eyes usually glaze over. I have to admit that mine probably did as well just a couple of years ago. So, what in the world is blogging? Commoncraft has come up with a fabulous video that puts the concept of blogging into plain English. Their video productions are a definite must see. Check it out. Special thanks to Jim Duncan who featured this video on his Real Central VA blog, one of my favorite reads. Enjoy! Share This
What In The World Are They Doing?!

Has the pastor and his congregation lost their minds? Listen up, Mr. Fred Phelps, our Lord Jesus Christ came to save the lost, not condemn them! And you are there with your daughters and the congregation that you lead doing exactly the opposite — condemning those who actually needs His forgiveness, comfort, and love most. Did you ...
What in the world has happened in Kampung Rimba Jaya?
2007-10-31 12:55:00
Folks!I?m not at all happy with what have been reported about the incident in Kampung Rimba Jaya today. :-(I have received numerous emails bringing rumors of all kinds. I do know through MalaysiaKini and HarakahDaily that some of the rumors were true. We do have people being bashed after all. There was ?bloodshed? over in Kampung Rimba Jaya. Some residents and even concerned lawyers who went there to help were detained by the police too! What the heck!?I had anticipated that such unfortunate event would happen one day in Kampung Rimba Jaya. PAS had highlighted the problems faced by the residents there for quite some time. I?m only surprised to hear that the authorities have the audacity to force such aggression and violence against those poor residents where some of them were actually senior citizens and pensioners! :-(So, this is what Khir Toyo?s ?Zero Squatters? program is really all about, eh.. Simply marvelous!Khir Toyo, you are really damn good. If the government ever decides to...

Just a side note because this is just amazing. Boring old unemployed me, with absolutely no proper retail experience, have been called in for a group interview at David Jones (one of the two dept stores which dominate Australia. Personally, I see DJs as more of an upper class thing than Myer) this Thursday. A miracle I tell you. A pure miracle. That and my friend's genius CV which I used as a template for my own.I'm hoping against hope that I'll get the casual SA position that I want- I want that discount!Oh... and it's Christmas, my summer holiday, so I can practically work FT! Here's to more money, because 1. one can never be too rich or too thin and hence 2. I am an absolute casholic:Photo cred: TFS

WHAT IN THE WORLD DO PEOPLE DO AFTER ?RETIREMENT?
2007-09-16 11:45:00
Some years ago, I wrote an article predicting that the word ?Retirement? would vanish from our vocabulary. While that has not yet happened, our approach to the word has surely changed. Gone are the days when grandpa could sit fishing, his gold watch in his pocket from many years of service to one, and only one, ...

What in the World Was the Bush Administration Thinking?
2007-09-06 09:01:00
One of the joys of the internet is the ability to jump in the old Wayback Machine and see what was being said a few years back on current issues.  What I recently found interesting was seeing how much the housing industry was being pumped by the Bush Administration, starting with President Bush’s promotion of ...
Let Them Eat Bologna
2007-08-29 04:19:00
102. Not a number I function well at when applied to average body temperature. I have finally managed to scavenge the remnants of my over-nuked brain through unsupervised (and in all likelihood, completely irrational and quite possibly even toxic) doses of tylenol and iburofen. At the moment, I am percolating at a slightly addled 101.1... The most clear-headed I have been all day. Might as well type a post since I most definitely do not feel like doing anything about the load of laundry that has been sitting in the washer since Saturday evening. I probably have strep throat, although at this point I have avoided any attempt at medically confirming that diagnosis. The thought of carting my little entourage with me to a doctor appointment is enough to push me past the boundaries of anything remotely resembling a rational cognitive state. I'm walking a fine line here as it is.All things considered, I think I did OK for the day. The kids are still breathing. The house didn't b...

Toof-Faiwy Twap!
2007-08-26 06:34:00
Jacqui is tooth-fairy obsessed. Much of her world these days revolves around a make-believe place - a sort of alternate reality that she has created out of an unlikely assortment of Backyardigans and Max and Ruby episodes (pre-school TV shows), Charlie and Lola books (especially this one), and her own tuity fruity imagination. The current tooth fairy fixation has become a bit problematic of late. Primarily because Jacqui thinks it is taking too long for her teeth to fall out. She's four, mind you. She's actually made me a little paranoid with all her attempted tooth wriggling and I'm worried that her Tuesday dentist appointment will only fuel her unfettered imagination to new cuckoo-nut heights. She still hasn't given up on the possibility of yanking out one of her own teeth, but she has hatched a hair-brained alternative plan: Lure the tooth-fairy in by cramming all kinds of crazy junk under her pillow and then... "TWAP HER!!"This evening when I got home for work, I went to ...
Footie the Alien
2007-08-08 21:07:00
Did you know that you can buy happiness? Yep. Costs a quarter. At least if you're Jacqui it does.Last night I forgot to call and ask Ken to pick up milk on his way home for Kyle. He was almost to our driveway when I remembered - too late. I think Ken was secretly amused because it meant that I would have to 'stop by' the grocery store on our way home from Jacqui's swimming lesson. Both kids, a shopping cart and aisle after aisle of floor-to-ceiling distractions. One doesn't just 'stop by' such places.Jacqui had been driving me nuts with questions all morning and she started up her rapid-fire feature during the two block drive from the pool to the grocery store:"Why do bees hab wings and legs? Why bowf? How many is dis (holding up random numbers of fingers)? What color is dat car? When's da light gonna be green? Why are dere no pink lights? What's a pink light mean? Why's Kyle need milk? How come milk is white? Milk builds bones, right? Does blue milk build...
Of Bananas and 911 Calls...
2007-08-03 07:34:00
"EAT YOUR BANANAS".I don't know how many times I said that particular phrase today. Jacqui seems to have a love/hate relationship with bananas at the moment. They are one of a very short list of foods that she usually eats exceptionally well. She prefers them cut into neat, round slices and makes a huge deal of demanding them at every meal. However, all of the sudden, she's not particularly interested in eating them. They are fun to smoosh... Or to stack like blocks... They make excellent finger puppets... But eat them? Why? Especially when there are so many other brilliant uses for them.We got through the Breakfast Banana Battle. It raged from 8:12 am to 10:57 am this morning. I put lunch off because breakfast had gone so long. We sat down to eat lunch shortly after 1:30 pm. At about 3:15 pm, Kyle was taking a nap and Jacqui still had a pile of banana slices on her plate. She had tried sneaking one to the cat, but when I heard the cat hacking under the dining r...
It's Only Fourteen Hours (...But It Seems More Like 48)
2007-07-31 06:58:00
So. What exactly do Stay-At-Home-Moms do all day? I thought I would present a detailed chronicle, transcribed from an actual memo pad I carried with me throughout the day, so that those of you who feel that the only work done in a day happens in an office might feel thoroughly ashamed of yourselves:6:45 a.m Alarm goes off. I was up until 1:30 am cleaning up the previous day's mess so I don't get up immediately. Mostly cause I know Ken will smack the snooze until I smack him.7:02 a.m. I get up on snooze alarm #3. I thump Ken and he flops out of bed looking as confused as a flash flood victim. I am startled by crunching when my feet touch the floor. Crayons. A whole box. I know I didn't leave them there.7:04 a.m. I start getting Jacqui's breakfast together. We need to leave the house at 9:45 to get to swimming lessons on time, then gymnastics class. We will probably be late, even though we have nearly three hours to get there and I got everything ready the night be...
What In The World Is 'Infopreneuring'?
2007-07-20 17:01:00
Infopreneuring is the new buzzword on the Internet. It's an exciting combination of an entrepreneur and information creator. The term 'infopreneuring' refers to the actions of creating (or having created) valuable information resources which are then monetized in entrepreneurial ways. Think of an expert writing a book. A specialist delivering a lecture. An artisan developing a documentary

Life's a Gregorian Opera
2007-07-12 02:04:00
Lately, Jacqui's chosen form of communication has been through singing. Everything. All day. That would be odd enough in and of itself, however, for reasons that I fail to understand, everything is sung to to tune of something sounding for all the world like an ancient Gregorian chant:"Mahhh-ha-ha-ha-mie, I cleee-hee-heend my roooooom...""Ky-hi-hi-hi-elle,- don't tuh-uh-uhhhch my stuff...""Da caaa-ha-ha-ha-haaaaat is stuu-huh-huh-huhh-uck in da claw-haw-haw-hawset..."Every 'verse' compells me against my will to answer, "Ahhhhh-ha-ha-ha-mennnnn..."I'v-e tried interesting her in alternate music genres, but no, the Gregorian chant suits her just fine, thank you.Did I miss something somewhere? Is there a Gregorian Backyardigans episode somewhere that I'm not aware of? Have the Wiggles gone completely off the deep end when I wasn't looking?Oh well, I suppose I should go get "Diiii-iiii-iiii-iiin-nerrrr rehh-heh-heh-heh-deeeee." I can hardly wait for "behh-heh-heh-hed timmmmmm...
Temporary Insanity
2007-07-03 23:00:00
Today while I was feeding Kyle his lunch, Jacqui was sleeping soundly on the couch, still struggling to overcome her recent run-in with a stomach flu bug. Kyle had almost finished when Jacqui suddenly jumped up off the couch and began running laps through the dining room, living room and kitchen. Our home contains the unfortunate design element of a circuitous path through the three rooms. As she ran, she repeatedly yelled, "Di-di-di-di-Dah-Doh!"I managed to stop her on about the fifth pass and asked her, "Jacqui, what are you saying?""Di-di-di-di-Dah-Doh.""-What is that supposed to mean?"She gave me a confused look. "It means I'm silly."She immediately resumed running laps and yelling at the top of her lungs. Then, after three laps she stopped just as suddenly as she started, curled back up on the couch, and went right back to sleep.I guess she's starting to feel a little better. Silly as she is, I've missed her nonsense. It's good to know she's still in there somewhere and tha...

What is happening in Golden State right now? The Dallas Mavericks look like a helpless 8 seed against a much more talented Warriors team. Everything is going right for the Golden State Warriors. Watching this game J. Mark English and myself, were saying how the Warriors have no fear of the Mavs, and are controlling the tempo of the game. An 8th seeded team should not dictate the tempo to a 1 seed in a playoff game. But that is exactly what is happening. Also, Baron Davis his having the game and series of his life. Nobody on the Mavs can stop him. He looks like the best player on the court and to be honest, he very well may be. If he stays healthy the Warriors can be good; very good for a long time. One final thought on the first half:Where in the world is Dirk Nowitzki? Every time he gets the ball he looks lost, and his odds of winning the MVP fall lower and lower. I know playoff performance doesn't count for the MVP voting, but we all know the voters are watching these games.Dirk if...

2007-02-13 18:18:02
Download Episode 9 In past shows, we have discussed wikis, blogging and podcasting. This time we tackle the buzz-laden topic of “WEB 2.0.” It seems that just about everyone has at least heard the term, but it’s difficult to find anyone who can really tell you conclusively what WEB 2.0 really is. We hope to shed some light with today’s discussion. Brigid Barnacle from Trenton New Jersey writes in: I keep hearing the term ?Web 2.0? thrown around, but I can?t seem to figure out what it is. Is it a language? Is it a piece of software? If it?s so popular, why can?t anyone explain exactly what it is?
