McCain breaks with economic adviser over *whiners* remark
2008-07-11 15:26:00 WASHINGTON — Republican John McCain rebuked his friend and adviser Phil Gramm on Thursday for saying the U.S. has become a “nation of whiners” about the economy and that the nation is in a “mental recession.” “Phil Gramm does not speak for me,” the presumptive GOP presidential nominee said. “I speak for me.” Gramm, a former Texas senator and economics professor, told The Washington Times that “we have sort of become a nation of whiners. You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness.” He went on to say the U.S. is not in a recession, which is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth, but many people seem to think so. “You’ve heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession.” Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama jumped on Gramm’s comments. “America already has one Dr. Phil,” Obama said in Virginia, referring to TV ...

McCain Advisor Phil Gramm "We're A Nation Of Whiners" - Video
2008-07-10 20:19:00 Senator John McCain's campaign will look back on this as a terrible day and a major one in what seems to be an incredible one-week meltdown that will certainly lead to a bump in the polls for the already leading Democratic Senator Barack Obama. Former Senator and McCain Advisor Phil Gramm made a comment that's caught fire. Everyone's having a field day with what Phil Gramm said. Former Senator Gramm seems to think that Americans should just shut up and take the fact of the worstening economy without comment: ?You?ve heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession,? Gramm, a former Texas senator, told the newspaper, adding that the presumptive Republican nominee will face an uphill battle fighting those perceptions.?We have sort of become a nation of whiners,? he said. ?You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in ?decline? despite a major export boom that is the primary reason that growth continues in the economy.?This di...
Whiners, Poor Losers and Why Hillary Shouldn't Be Barack's VP
2008-06-07 23:05:00 by Dave Lindorff It’s kind of bizarre reading about supposed “feminists” who are reportedly claiming they’ll vote for McCain rather than Obama, now that “their” candidate, Hillary Clinton, is out of the running for the presidential nomination. First of all, John McCain is clearly the candidate of the anti-abortion crowd, but that’s not the half of it. He’s also the candidate who says Anthony Scalia, John Roberts and Sam Alito are his kind of judges. We’re talking here about guys (yeah, guys) who think a woman’s place is in the home, and who only recently ruled that if she’s discriminated against on the job, and doesn’t learn about it for a decade or more, a woman can’t do anything about it, because the original offense of underpaying her happened more than 180 days ago. McCain is also the guy who, after his wife suffered a serious car crash and became disabled, dumped her for a younger, richer woman. A feminist’s dream, this guy. And how about Hillary Clinton? When she was suppos...

2008-04-09 18:45:00 Heinous gasbag Marty Davis continues her envy-fueled denigration of FNC's Courtney Friel for the third time in four days (and the sixth time in the past nine!) on her painfully wretched blog. Marty, we know your best days are far behind you. We know Courtney has reached heights in this business that you only approached in your misguided dreams. We know that while she spends her days working for the most powerful name in news, you are relegated to blogging in your "adorable" pink bathrobe. How could you not be envious? Why would you not lash out on a daily basis? Can we expect more poison from you the higher she climbs, which seems to be in direct relation to the lower you sink? 'Tis a bitter pill, Ms. Davis, but you best swallow anyway, though it never seemed to help your career advancement. For once the day comes that your little blog no longer spreads hate across the world, our planet will only be all the better for it. And I say all of this not out of hate, but out of sadness, ...

You heard this conservative guy who was introducing John McCain yesterday saying somebody's got to pull the bark off of Barack Obama. And now all of a sudden Hillary is saying the same thing." One Dead In O-hi-o
2008-02-27 15:06:00 Tim Russert wondered which Hillary Clinton would show up last night? NYDN Answer: The Victim. Hillary took a shot at the media right out of the gate whining about ALWAYS getting the first question and media bias against her after commandeering the debate for 16 interminable minutes on health insurance. NBC's Tim Russert painted The Victim into a coffin last night on Iraq - the death rattle heard 'round the world signaling a gasping Hillary's final moments. NYP Wash Post NYDN NYTPerhaps finally sensing that she was, in stand-up comedy parlance, dying and not killing, Clinton tried to lighten the tone by quoting a lame, one-joke sketch from the recent return of "Saturday Night Live." TV Newser vid The one joke, perhaps less than one, was that the news media have been openly and lavishly biased in favor of Obama, a hugely arguable premise in the first place. Clinton made a reference to lines from the sketch about running off to get Obama a pillow so he'd be comfy in his chair and s...

Will The Global Whiners Please Get Their Act Together
2008-01-23 21:34:00 This is just fantastic. Apparently global warming is now dependant on a Monday morning quarter backing of the past seasons whether analysis. We've been pummeled for ages it seems by the Goracle and his mentally unstable entourage about how terrible the effects of global warming would be. We heard about how monstrously gigantic super-storms, bringing wave after wave of mega hurricanes, would batter the coastal regions of America and the world. But where did they go?In actuality, depending on which reference you use, 2007 was the weakest hurricane season the U.S. (and the world) has seen in anywhere between five and twenty years. Like I said, depending on which reference you go by.But "let us not alloweth that to standeth in our way," sayeth the prophets of Earthly warmth. "We shall overcometh. We shall now reverseth our words, confuseth and confoundeth thy terms, and thereby claimeth righteousness and victory in the coming age."In other words, they got their butt's whooped by, as w...

The Big O
2007-12-07 23:39:00 I was listening to Rush Limbaugh on the way back here and heard him outline a plot to sabotage Obama's Saturday Oprah event. Rush claims Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (the same scum who tried to get Clear Channel to fire him) has put the Senate on notice of a vote tomorrow on an bill affecting Iowa farmers. Ethanol. That would put Obama between a rock and a hard place. O & O's big event will be screwed. Rush put on his Bill Clinton voice and pretended to call Harry Reid to arm-twist him into effing Obama. Rush gives good Bill Clinton. Her Imperial Heinous Hillary is dispatching shill Bill to steal thunder from O & O's South Carolina love feast in an 80,000 capacity stadium. The $400 blow dry boy John Edwards is blasting Oprah. As someone with years of political experience I can tell you that celebrity endorsements mean zip. Gets some media attention but jaded voters don't buy it. Having said that, Oprah is an anomaly among celebrities. Her endorsement will have an imp...

Jennifer Love Screw It
2007-12-06 20:07:00 So Jennifer Love Hewitt is steamed at vicious bloggers ripping her a new one over this bikini shot. Sounds like the 28-year-old actress is taking a page out of Britney's publicity playbook. Let's accentuate the positive, shall we? You people forget that Miz Jennifer is coveted for her amazing boobs. She doesn't have to worry now about catching a man with cellulite-free legs. Miz J is engaged. Boxing Bill
2007-11-28 15:10:00 When Bill Clinton usurps Hillary's media spotlight it is time to box him in. The headline: "Bill Clinton Tells Iowans He Opposed Iraq From Start." Wash Post YouTube video It appears that his brain is not getting enough blood from his failing heart. Here he is in TIME mag: "I supported the Iraq thing." Yesterday Shill Bill opined that electing Hillary is "Back To The Future." Going back in time and blindly handing the WH to another Clinton, I presume. Biff was the high school bully in BTTF preying on little Marty McFly. Biff, Bubba, same diff. The future was not kind to Biff. What goes around comes around. Oh, and the Clintons have learned their lesson about stiffing waitresses. Bill left a $45 tip on a $47 bill at Hamburg 2 in Iowa. Overkill, Bill.

Off The Beaten Tracht
2007-11-25 11:54:00 I have zero sympathy for the whining former DC shock jock Greaseman. The Wash Post's radio czar Marc Fisher (whom I like) pitches how guys like Imus and Stern get second chances and Doug "Greaseman" Tracht is terminally stuck in the dugout for his sins. Here's what Dougie did. On DC-101 Martin Luther King Jr. Day 1986: "Kill four more and we can take the whole week off." Week suspension.Thirteen years later. Greaseman: "No wonder people drag them behind trucks." Grisly comment after a Lauryn Hill tune. Fired. He's about as employable as K-Fed. The 57-year-old victim of his own tongue sighs that if he ruled the world: "...and we had people raising hell about the morning man's antics, we'd raise our glass and bring him free doughnuts every day. But until we get that station, well, I have no idea. I'll be out here on the boat, getting premature aging of my skin, holding a light gin and tonic and feeling like a million bucks." Hockey arena whiners need to find hobby
2007-11-17 02:40:00 Sheesh, these must be slow news days indeed in Rochester, N.Y.How else to explain an in-depth report on a decrepit hockey rink that seems to be falling apart at the seams, all the while racking up millions of dollars of debt? When I first read the report of the ESL Sports Centre, I was impressed. ESL? English as a Second Language, right? Cool. Nothing like teaching newcomers to the good ol' U S of A the language while performing triple salchows.Only in America.Only then did I realize that ESL is actually some credit union that owns naming rights to the joint. So much for reaching out to immigrants.Anyway, some old Betty decides to stick her nose in the air at the rink, saying it is turning into a rathole. According to the report, Ms. Too-Much-Time-On-Her-Hands is concerned that "the pipes are coming down out of the ceiling and the bleachers in Rink One are broken in places and dangerous. She also says the roof leaks, the ladies room is beat up, and the locker rooms ne...

The NY Guardian Angels' founder's on-air partner Ron Kuby has been dispatched to the beach. "It's like [Imus] died and went to radio heaven, and it's me and Ron who got punished," said Sliwa. NY Daily News WABC's website already jettisoned the on-air duo's show that proclaimed Sliwa & Kuby "now one of the top-rated morning news/talk radio shows in the country."

Can The Chronic Whiners Stand The Truth About Life In general?
2007-09-24 02:20:00 Seeing that most if not all of the whiners that contribute to the Leftinistra rag, suitable only for recycled toilet paper, Huffington Postal have severe BDS and, support groups such as MoveOn, ANSWER and Code Pinko for Skanks, wouldn't know truth if it was shoved up their anal aperture, here is a hint.Get your heads up out of your ass.As soon as the mutants from the left figure out what this war is really about, the better off they will be. Unless, naturally, they intend to force their "progressive", read socialist, agendas down our throats and continue to offer aid and comfort to our enemies through their ignorance and stupidity.Catch the wave
Whiners or Winners?
2007-07-13 11:56:00 At the school where I teach we have a fairly strict dress and behavior code. Its purpose is to teach our students the graces they will need in the workplace and to make an impact on society. Frequently I hear a student say, "I hate all these rules. I can't wait to get out of here." In a former children's home school setting one of the students was a chronic complainer about rules and authorities. Then he graduated and promptly joined the marines. This condition of whining is not restricted to students in schools. In our town's online version of the newspaper each article has a place for the readers to make comments. It is amazing that no matter what the story certain readers whine about the police, the news reporter, the government leaders, parents and anything or anyone else that was featured in the story. They never seem to see anything positive.People who are whiners are never winners. Their outlook is always negative. On the other hand, people who are winners have a positive o...
